Religion / Re: Who Is A Christian? by Ynot(m): 12:01am On Feb 06, 2009
A christian is yet another made up word like justice and patriotism that means absolutely NOTHING. The definitions posted so far are all from your point of view relative to someone else. It's just a question of numbers and collective interest. That is, how many people bought the story. I will explain:

Let me start with patriotism. The dictionary defined patriotism as the love of country and willingness to sacrifice for it. What will that lead to - endless WARS and more to come. Say two countries are fighting for whatever reason their individual government made up. Going by the definition of patriotism, each side will continue to fight forever (well, until one with more fire/weapon power defeats the other) because they both love their country and are willing to sacrifice. Hitler and his Nazi cohort from their point of view, believes Germany born citizens are superior race that must get rid of Jews and expand their territory. Germany soldiers bought the story and of course they have to be PATRIOTIC. Their first plan; invade Poland and go from there. The rest of the world (thinking their country could be next) teamed up for the love of their respective countries to fight Germany and before you can say jack: world war II kicked off. If both sides must be patriotic, who is right? As you well know, they can't both be right!!!

Next, what is justice. Well, its just another painted word for revenge. We have been told that revenge is against the law - the law of justice. But it all depend on who is dishing it out. The number of collective interest, that is. If i killed a man because he killed my father, the authority will probably give me lethal injection in the name of justice for committing murder. Then tell me, what's the difference between revenge and justice? On one hand i feel justified (one person), on the other hand the jury (in this case, 12 people) said i'm guilty and should be put to death. Numbers!!!

Same goes to Christianity. Your definition of what a christian is or should be is just your point of view. This point of view is shaped by your interest (going to better place - heaven), benefit (everlasting life) and what you believe to be right or should be right (Jesus died on the cross for your sins) and a host of others. If you're able to convince others then you all are Christians relative to some other group. If some other group of believers decides they will go to heaven but there is no everlasting life over there, are they not christian as well? Its just a level of what you choose to believe. That's why you have many sects of Christianity. Each believing on something just a little different from what others believe.

See, a christian does not exist. Its all different things from different points of view - NOTHING. But you don't believe that, do you?

Anyone that believe in the imaginary anti-christ should have his/her head seriously examined.
Foreign Affairs / Re: Palin's (McCain's Vice) Teenage Daughter Pregnant by Ynot(m): 5:47am On Sep 02, 2008
The GOP - gift that keep on giving. So much for "family values"!!! Can you imagine the outcry from the preachers and Limbaughs of this world if this happened to a Democrat!

No matter how you want to spin this, Palin is a poor choice for this ticket and a bad judgment on the part of McCain. He made this election about having experience and using good judgment but as we're beginning to find out he didn't vet this woman. He only met her once at some conference, spoke to her twice on the phone and now thinks she can be the VP and potentially the president of this country?

Here is my concern. I worry about a VP who doesn't know what her own children are doing. Was this teen given an education and means of preventing this apparently unplanned pregnancy? Was she comfortable about discussing the fact that she was sexually active with her mother so that this wouldn't happen? Yes, it can happen in any family but having your mother running as a potential VP doesn't. She apparently neglected her family while she pursued her political interest. Period. If you can't uphold and teach morals by example (especially by example) to your kids, how can you be a moral leader of the country?

Now, she has a pregnant daughter AND a challenged child to be concerned with. It's an awfully big bite to chew when you throw in running a country. She needs to be at home with that little boy, and now her 17 year old is pregnant. I believe she and her husband made a BIG mistake in accepting the VP nomination and she needs to rescind the invite.

The Dems has more - wait until you hear the role she played on firing her former brother in-law.

Get a bottle of champagne for your friend and both of you should get busy with it for he has finally opened his eyes to the greatest lie ever told - GOD.

Ooooh if only our fore-fathers had the courage, they would've joined together and maim all those early christ-peddlers that showed up in africa. Situation would've been positively different in africa right now.

Network the computers in your school computer lab to make beowulf-style supercomputer cluster and write a program (that need high performance computing) utilizing message passing to benchmark/test the performance. Note: each node (computer) in the cluster must participate in processing the given problem. You can develope a program that can find the largest prime number that has 10 million digits or more. You can even win $100,000 while you're at it if lucky.
