A have a friend that applied for SA visa in 2018/19 (can't remember for sure). After 7months of trying hard to get response, he had to withdraw his application (now if you withdraw your application, the passport is collectable within 72hrs).

Who does that? The embassy can return passports within 72hrs if the user forfeits the entire funds expended on the application but won't deal the application in months.

If there is a legal, moral and acceptable way to fast-track your application, I'd suggest you take it seriously else you might have to wait for so long that you'd recall your passport.

Anyone can sponsor you (a letter will be written by the person) but transferring a lumpsum to your account may not be good for your application. The embassy is usually suspicious of such transactions and may deny you visa.

If it's VFS, I'd implore you not to waste your time, they can't help you unless you want to withdraw your passport.

The embassy is at Molade Okoya Thomas or so but be rest assured that they might not be helpful either (infact, they might not allow you in) which is really unfortunate.
