My brother scored 277. Never been so proud. Had many candidates checking theirs where I checked for my brother. People even scored as low as 67. @JAMB, wetin happen nah?

Gosh, too much of badly-written English on this thread. This is more worrisome than the topic of this thread.

The truth is that high school students all over the world are becoming lazier by the year. This syndrome isn't limited to Nigeria alone, the social distractions (and temptations) are too numerous to ignore. Evidently, I believe bulk of the blame should be apportioned to the candidates, many of whom are obscurely unperturbed about their future. Instead of them to study hard, they would rather search endlessly for shortcuts to success. Well, as a matter-of-fact, I attempted JAMB exams thrice myself in time past, so failing JAMB exams shouldn't be the end of the world.

yeah I did, scored 192

In my humble opinion i think a big part of the problem is not JAMB purposely failing students or the educational system being poor. JAMB is now more I.T savvy than in my days so there are even less mistakes. And for the educational system it is even better now as there are many foreign trained and experienced teachers plus millions of dollars worth more investment in both public and private schools(primary+secondary+uni) coupled with the proliferation I.T systems you can say the educational system has actually improved.

I wrote my own JAMB in 1997. In those days if you scored less than 210 you are almost certainly guaranteed not to enter university that year!! What i think is the problem is the culture of the youth today. They are too distracted with the media,celebrity lifestyles,social networks and a serious love for quick and easy gratification. Don't get me wrong we had those things to a lesser degree in those days but a lot of my generation knew how to work hard.

In my time if you are preparing for exams(as opposed to just ordinary reading) you would leave your house in the morning and come back in the evening when the library closes. Even in Uni i can't count how many times i went to read around 8pm and went back to my hostel around 4am. And i wasn't even amongst the people you could call an efiko(hard studier) in my time. That was just a basic requirment if you expected to do ok(not fantastic) in your exams. I guess times have changed.

What difference will it make if about 90% passed the exam and post-ume only for the minister of education to tell them that just 500,000 candidates can be admitted due to inadquate space in the university system ?

I believe the minister is aware of the nonchalant attitude of youths theses days in regards to academic matters hence her approval for such an amount of forms to be sold out despite being aware of the challenges of inadequate spaces in our tertiary institutions.

You would agree with me that last saturday, jambites were given us live updates with their devices from their various centers across the nation.

How would you rate a student who takes his handheld device into a examination hall and begin to post live updates on Nairaland, facebook, twitter, bbm...etc as the exam progresses.

Would you rate him/her as the serious type?

Is he/she pursuing a career in journalism hence his/her actions?

I can categorically tell you that apart from confirming their paper type with the one they have on their device, about 60% of candidates didn't bother to go through the questions. They just shaded what they had in their device.

I wouldn't hold jamb responsible for the massive failure, rather I would blame it on the unseriousness of the candidates.

Its obvious JAMB gave random scores. I am dead sure! He is taking Jamb to court soon. I just wish many cheated students could get together and take JAMB to court!

If you know you did the exam independently yet you scored below 200, this is one thing you must know that might be the reason.

The first question in each of the four subjects is always about the subject.
For example, if you offer English, Maths, Econs and Govt.
The first question in your English will be WHICH QUESTION PAPER TYPE OF USE OF ENGLISH IS GIVEN TO YOU?
If the paper type at the top right corner of the English question paper is Question paper type:B and the options given are;

A. TYPE D
B. TYPE I
C. TYPE B
D. TYPE U

If you unfortunately choose option B which is TYPE I, that means you have chosen the wrong answer and it will negatively affect every other answer you choose even though they are correct because you have ignorantly change your paper type.
The correct answer is option C.

Also if in Mathematics, If the paper type at the top right corner of the Mathematics question paper is Question paper type D and the options given are;

A. TYPE D
B. TYPE I
C. TYPE B
D. TYPE U

u are not alone on dis my two younger sis who sat for d exam also have been crying dier eyes out since yesterday,d way dey prepared for dis exam is like dey are gonna score 300 dey read frm morning till night even up to d extent of waking up at d middle of d night to read but dey where dissapointed wit d result.dis was d same kids who scored 260 last year jamb nd 70 on post ume but where nt giving admission to study in d school of dier choice which is uniben..

Haven gone through the comments above mine nobody mentioned prayer(the candidates closeness with God).Quite alright we can blame candidates poor preparation and stuffs we feel we should put the blame on.but remember that no matter how hard u prepare for something in life(100%) if their is no 1% of God involved your outcome would be zero like they say "man proposes God disposes" although some people just get lucky at times but remember luck would run out of u 1day.As for those that said they prepared well maybe you weren't just prayerful,as for me i can't say i was lucky i would say God favoured me because he answered my prayers because my preparation towards the exam was fair(due to some issues.i wish i was well prepared Maybe I could have performed better)well I still give thanks God.On Saturday night my brother called and told me I scored 219 (Alamdulilah)and i said to myself #POST JAMB#GAME ON
