It's a general forum, cuts across all areas of interest. You just select the topic that interests you from the home page. |
vodutive:A 'Professor' signed the document |
Lovexme:I'm relieved to know I wasn't the only one that noticed. I take two major things from that press release: 1. The Professor and self-acclaimed Dame who is the commissioner for environment in Rivers either did not read the release before appending her signature, or does not realize that 'black soot' is tautology. 2. The state ministry of environment clearly admitted its cluelessness and helplessness over the situation in the second paragraph, refused to acknowledge the health hazards posed by the phenomenon and offered no precautionary advice to residents. There are so many other sad, heart-wrenching inferences and implications from that press release that are most probably not worth analysing here. Which way Nigeria? |
Nigeria has to be the only country in the world where parliament executes projects. |
"Tope Aluko is not my friend. I didn't collect money for election from anybody. No be Zenith sponsor again? Aisha Buhari is as guilty as me on corrupt charges. Oh, so you're guilty? Nobody can win any battle against me. You be God? My father had prayed for me that if I continue to be righteous, Ekiti people will serve me forever. I noticed too that they're serving you already, but at least give them their reward for being good subjects i.e. salaries! King Righteous Governor I was sent from heaven as a demi god.You dey crase? APC is a government of 'one chance'. Well, wetin you for talk na? [Everything I've predicted would happen in Nigeria are happening, some have happened. Looks like you're a prophet too sir ![]() I was Obasanjo's boy so I know he's not a saint. Bros shoe get size. Don't forget you went to beg him even after he had called you a baztard when you grossly disrespected him in public Dr. Goodluck Jonathan is a saint. Oh Lord ![]() Buhari can't take Nigeria out of the woods. And unfortunately, you are not helping the matter by mis-governing Ekiti State Food security is better than general security, hence my 'stomach Infrastructure' policy. Just don't say that near the farmers being terrorized by herdsmen Ekiti will be in economic bondages until 2036 because of debts collected by former Governor Kayode Fayemi, so my hands are tied". But why did you bother to contest for the office, Mr Governor? Oga please just return to your motor park business, or at least try to run a transport company with the loot from your nose-diving political career. Shebi you get motor park experience? ![]() |
When it's not a corruption related index |

uc4uandc:If your career ambition is to work in a government job; good luck to you, but do not discourage those who have higher ambitions and wish to acquire skills to help them achieve them through the N-Power program. |
Mubz:I read the original post and shook my head as it presented another perspective to what employers say about many Nigerian graduates being unemployable. |

Tbells91:Which true business owner withholds their number from clients?? It looks like you've been cheated. Sorry about that. |
AgroPro:What would be the point of this? The candidate holds a BSc, PGd and will be on track to acquire a PhD. What would be the point of running a part-time MSc on top of it? OP, please go for the PhD without hesitation. A reason why your supervisor suggested so is because he believes you can achieve it based on your academic record. Turning down the offer would be letting him down, and indirectly saying you don't believe in yourself enough. It's a challenge and opportunity for you to step up and I think you should grab it boldly and prove your mettle. |
Add Celebrities to the list |
psalmuelwater:There is competition in those areas just like in most fields but it's far less than the more common trades because of its specialized nature and the level of training required. You can start by doing an extensive Internet search on "specialized roofing systems" and/or "specialized roofing techniques" to learn more about these things. The most common to my knowledge is the standing seam technique and there are various implementations of it depending on the sheet manufacturer. Check them out and if you have any questions please ask. |
It seems to me that now is the time you'll be required to make sacrifices necessary to achieve your dream of owning your own fashion house. My advise to you is to accept the job first while you remain on the lookout for something with a more favorable schedule - a bird in hand they say is worth a dozen in the bush. You already have basic knowledge of fashion design so continue by offering to sew for your friends and family - I expect they should be able to condone any errors due to your lack of experience at this stage. Also, look for experienced/established fashion designers around you that you can collaborate with on such sewing projects. The benefit is that they can help you if you are pressed for time, and you can rub minds with them about your designs and learn a few things from them too. Once you feel confident enough you should offer your services to your work colleagues too, but be mindful that they may not be as tolerant of mistakes as friends/family. Apply this approach over the next 6 months and see how much progress you make. Once you are grounded enough to deliver good quality jobs I expect your work to speak for you to the point where the decision between your job and passion will be a easy one for you to make. Good luck! |
Being a graduate of Building Tech I wouldn't advise that you acquire the general construction trades skills like aluminium windows, tiling, plumbing etc as you would be competing directly with the crowd of artisans out there. If you do, I of course expect that over time you would set yourself apart based on your educational background, but that will take time and you will have to deal the challenge of customers who prefer the cheaper labour from 'Baba Taju' than your own expertise which is likely to cost more. My advice would be to look for a specialized area of construction where you can easily set yourself apart (due to less competition) to learn about and acquire skills in. The following areas readily come to mind: - Building insulation - Building cladding - Specialized roofing systems and their installation techniques I also suggest you go into whatever area you decide with a motivation to learn new skills, grow your expertise and develop a career as opposed to just making money. This is so that you are not discouraged along the way because; as you know, there are bound to be challenges on the way to the top. However I admire your pro-active approach to your career and wish to encourage you to carry on with hard work, persistence and determination as you expand your skill and knowledge base. And if you have any questions about those specialized areas mentioned above do not hesitate to ask. |
It's just another demonstration of the widespread failure of leadership in Nigeria and although it looks good in the news, I'm not impressed. We need welfare schemes for everyone with clearly defined criteria for citizens' eligibility, not the random, selective handouts they give to boost their image and publicity like this one. Can Anambra government build a house for every widow in the state? Is she the only widow in Anambra state? |
Both their posts are further proof that money can't buy class. |
kaeforum:Finally someone reads the situation accurately. I believe it's one reason the rogues in the NFF prefer to hire a foreign manager. |
439 views and still no response - wonderful! Anyway I recently found abokifx.com as a good resource for what I was looking for - hopefully this info is also useful for someone out there |
nenergy:You had nearly 4 years to read the topic but from your response it appears you still managed to fail to comprehend the part of my comment where it advised you to do your findings. Again I say don't just rely on the effort of others, do your own research. |
