TravelRe: Air Nigeria Suspends Operations And Sacks Workers by 1forall: 1:29pm On Sep 05, 2012
It has finally happened. As a former employee I saw this coming which was why I quit 3 years ago, yes, I quit!

That was even before it was re-christened Air Nigeria, and before Jimoh brought his 'ori buruku' to cause more problems.
I just couldn't continue to work hard without knowing when I would receive my wages, which was just one of the several deteriorating and unwholesome work conditions that began to become the norm after Virgin Atlantic divested.

I feel for my old colleagues who decided to weather the storm most esp the 2 who just got married few months ago.

As much as I agree Jimoh is an agent of doom for business, the company had been heading downhill time before Jimoh got on board. I think that's what he looks for - vulnerable companies needing investment which he can take over, run aground and further into debt, and then blame it on an unhealthy business environment just like he's done now.

It is outrageous however for that quasi-evil man to make mention of staff disloyalty, without telling the whole world staff had been permanently owed 2-3 months salries since he took over, that staff travel benefits had been suspended, that several staff had been sacked without reason or replacement, that he moved the coy headquaters from Etiebet's, Ikeja to NICON house on the Island and making the coy pay rent to him, that the coy stopped contributing to staff pension accounts even though they were still making deductions from staff pay (when they eventually paid wages) among other acts of gross mismanagement they were committing eg falsifying tax clearence papers to evade tax.

Just a terrible story with a bad ending - as if the labour market wasnt over populated already angry

Foreign AffairsRe: Michelle Obama's Speech At DNC2012: Democratic National Convention by 1forall:
"As president, you can get all kinds of advice from all kinds of people. But at the end of the day, when it comes time to make that decision, as president, all you have to guide you are your values, and your vision, and the life experiences that make you who you are" ~ Barack Obama

Someone please tell that to those who expect anything great from GEJ.

gst101: more people are beign lifted out of poverty. More people are owning decent houses. Yes, these people owning decent houses are not all elite! In the estate where i live, its only the ordinary people you will find. Its not as if its simple, but people are doing it. No one wants to pay 250k-300k for just 3bedroom flat anymore. A rent which will expire just within 12months. We dont finish our houses befor packing into it and i a few years, you have a decent structure no one would believe wasnt complete when you packed in. People are owning decent cars today. More people are having satelite tvs to day. A walk down the street even in the suburb will help you confirm. Smart phones are as common as stone today. More people can power their genrators for more hours today than ever before
You, my friend, need to return to the zoo you came from angry
Oh Jeeedus!! Who writes these people's speeches for them?? They should be FIRED ASAP.

And If they don't have speech writers, they should get one STAT and stop with the verbal diarrhea!!

My God. . .what is this crap?

The Statistician General is out of the country??!!
(So you don't know for sure)

You have not double checked??!! (Basically, you don't know for sure)

The Last time you checked??!! (When sir? When? So bottomline. . .you don't know for sure)

. . . .Then what the hell are you doing giving freaking press conference??!! huh huh
I'm glad to read a critical, sensible response to the bullcrap said by that guy. A great majority of Nigerian public officials are a simple waste of space, talk less of the public resources they squander and loot!

IF he delivered this kind of speech in a place where people had their heads straight, he'll be out of a job before the week runs out angry
SportsRe: Nigeria Vs USA (0 - 2) U-20 Women's World Cup Semi-Final Full Time by 1forall: 11:47am On Sep 04, 2012
I personally thought they gave the US team a bit too much respect in their approach to the game today and allowed the US to 'shakara' them early on.

That said, the girls need to work to improve on their stamina. In each of the last 4 games they played it became obvious they got tired from around the 65-70th minute leading to a loss of concentration and careless play. The coach by now should know that and do something about it although I suppose it's why most substitutions were made during the last 20 mins.

They would also do well to learn/improve on their technical discipline, while Nigeria had more talented players and played better football today, the US was more solid and technically disciplined and it showed.

Overall, there's nothing to be ashamed of losing to the USA in a female world cup semi-final, the girls did their country proud and should benefit from the exposure and experience. Let's just hope it tranlates to a better future performance next time out.

Kudos girls!

If you believe Reuben then you will believe anything. This is the same way the Presidency denied reports of the late Yar'adua's health condition even after he was clinically dead.

It sickens me to hear the same stories from these guys in Aso Rock again - offending the sensibilities of reasonable citizens angry

BusinessRe: Conversation With Sanusi On "New" Currency Policy by 1forall: 1:29pm On Aug 27, 2012
Specious arguments! SLS as usual defending what is obviously not good for us, we never forget subsidy oh. No matter how excellent the grammar is, it cant obscure the plain fact that the political class would benefit from it. Was he trying to portray that he is not a part of the political class he referred to?

We havent forgot the ₦100bn SLS donated to his Kano State oh, nor the ₦25 billion he donated to the Church after the noise was too much.
Today the CBN announced that it would spend ₦40bn to produce this 'currency management' operation, what would he say again to that?

I dont know how long we're gonna wait as these guys abuse and insult us, we should just go ahead and treat them like scum they are!

I didnt understand that Ramires sub for Mata, the midfield flattened out a bit once Mata went off.
I expected Bertrand would make way - didnt understand what role he played in the first place.

This initiative to save a fellow Nigerian from a terrible health condition is a good one, and other similar efforts to do so for others like Oke, Funmi etc are also commendable.

A big thumbs up to us Nigerians looking out for each other.

But when are we going to save Nigeria?
(or are we happy to continue doing this forever?)
