You know, that statement "idiots ruled by fools" apparently was a well thought out statement - it so aptly describes the Nigerian situation.

Massive shame sad

And they'll turn round and say this is not a FAILED state?

When government begins to negotiate with the groups of people who are making life hellish for its citizens you don't need a political scientist to tell you that such a government is failed, and its only a matter of time before these groups possess more power than the government itself.

I wonder what we Nigerians are still waiting for?

Another manifestation of the idiocy in our system.

Reptyle: Did I not just read in the papers today that the EFCC may be dropping charges against Peter Odili after about 5 years of legal rigmarole?
What have the authorities been doing before now with regards to prosecution? How long does it take to prosecute an individual? Did the police not say recently that the case was stalled because there was no evidence (how ridiculous)? . If the man is to be prosecuted what have they been waiting for? All of us know that most likely nothing is going to happen.

This looks to me like a case of zealous security/immigration officials wanting to appear busy, and happy to frustrate a seemingly 'powerful' man which may have given them a bigger kick in comparison to frustrating ordinary individuals.

"Nothing dey for town to give the youths good example
How our big people and traditional rulers dey do
They don spoil the tradition and corrupt all the town
They come make the youths look up to Europe and USA
In those place sef people don lose dem common sense
Na the number of nuclear and guns you get na im give you power pass

We Africa we must to start to think our own
In our tradition where human beings and nature grow
Where creativity and understanding must to be
Right now, think now, fight now, right now, suffer must to stop
... just like that!

Did you bother to read through the top threads at all? All you're asking for have been well discussed there already.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: How To Identify and Avoid FAKE Employment Agencies and Adverts by 1forall:
Well put by the OP, if only more users who visit this Jobs section could read and be informed, they would be better able to spot phony job vacancies and invitations.

There are many topics that discuss the increasingly widespread fake job phenomenon here but many people still fall for these tricksters, is it that they do not bother to read the postings here? And to think that those topics have been placed at the top of the Jobs page is even more baffling

Thanks for re-visiting the topic again.

Jobs/VacanciesAccountant With Auditing Experience Wanted In Lagos by 1forall(op): 8:56pm On Jul 30, 2012
A asset management company in Ikoyi is looking to recruit an accountant with experience of auditing into it's Financial Control unit.

The following are compulsory requirements:
* The right candidate should possess an accounting qualification or be at an advanced stage of gaining it
* The candidate MUST have gained some experience in accounting/auditing
* Male, unfortunately the company is unable to hire a female candidate for this role at this time

If you know that you meet the requirements above please send me a message through https://www.nairaland.com/sendmessage/1forall
to get the email address to send your CV to. Please be prepared to write an application cover letter as well.

Candidates who do not meet the compulsory requirements need not bother apply.
Only successful applicants would be contacted for the next stage of the recruitment process.
If you do not hear from them within 2 weeks of application then your application would have been unsuccessful.

Apply now, and good luck!
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Paying To Get A Job : How Reasonable? by 1forall:
For as much as we have screamed our throats hoarse advising and warning job seekers on this board about these phoney job arrangements it's disappointing to read this.

Why pay to get a job? What's his own employment status? Why does he need money to 'help' you, is he a broke ass man? Do you know who your eventual employer will be? Why does he want to help you? Doesn't he have immediate family he can 'help'?

Look, with so many questions springing to mind, you should be wary.

Do not be deceived further. Exit plan: Tell him to get you the job first and that you'll pay him as soon as you get paid. If he doesn't agree to that speak to your feet quick.
