musiwa24: Look at it this way. If the north get power. they will never allow the south ever to get power. When mean never.. I mean never. will lead to civil war. and if they get power too. they will the same Jonathan just did to their people down south.

So it is better to be wise.. at this point to break it..

Look anyone who want unity by force should be ready to pay with his or her life. people will be ready to kill those people who want that.. they deserve to die. when you look at the fact that millions of people may die.

this are your fellow citizen killed. If you have any human blood in you.. you most support break up to save millions of lifes. anything less than break up of nigeria. means millions of people will die.. People who want unity by force should be ready to die first..

It is better you save millions.. even mike adenuga refuse to eat his own birthday cake.. He is not ready to die.

the case of nigeria is like a case of a bad feotus and the mother life.

Mr Musiwa, this your call for seccession can we say it truly represents the agitations of the people of the south western Nigeria (where I believe you come from and claim to speak for)?

berem: Just wait for sunny_ bobo to come spew his usual trash about Buhari killed the corpers. grin
Indeed, Berem, it may be extrapolative to say Buhari killed the Corps members. I think when people mention him in that crime they mean his incendiary, vitriolic and inciting comments before the election was the remote cause of the actions of the murderers. Also, eyewitness reports have it that the boys that perpetrated these dastardly acts were chanting 'Sai Buhari' (I dont know what that translates in English) while performing their evil act.
But a question would be, 'why did we not notice such incident in 2007 when Yar'adua won against the same Buhari in the most massively riggged election of our time', most Southerners believe that it was because of the north-south political divide. I dont have any bad blood against that man Buhari and I feel that most of the things I read against him are politically knitted to discredit him and scheme him out. But we cant take the huge unfavourable interpretations of all that against the man by the southern electorates out of the picture.
Again, I watched the Supreme Court judgement in the case brought by Buhari against the election that brought in Yaradua. The evidence submissions were so strong that I felt if the case wasnt decided in favour of Buhari he had all the reason in the world to set the nation ablaze. But what happened? It was decided against him, he wept "for Nigeria", not even a pyrotechnique (banger/knockout) was shot and he accepted it in good fate. But since his inciting statements, and those of his henchmen before and after the 2011 elections you and I know what has become of Nigeria in terms of peace and security.

PoliticsRe: What Will Happen If Jonathan Wins 2015 Presidential Election? by 1MCN(op): 5:45pm On Jun 27, 2013
Abagworo: If Nigerians vote him, nobody can stop him but the poster meant if he rigs again. If 2015 elections is free and fair, the outcome will be good no matter who wins. However going by the current failure of leadership, PDP is likely to lose in any free and fair election. Let us be real and not tribalistic and sentimental. Jonathan can only win if we see results by October 2014 like completion of 2nd Niger bridge, stable power supply, functional refineries, completed East-West road, prosecution of some thieves in Government and reduction of poverty. .

Here's the state of the good part of East-West road in Port Harcourt our oil capital.
My brother, Abagworo I never meant 'if he rigs (again)'. But the question I ask is, if he wins can I and you ever accept that he has won and the election was not rigged? Can we?! If he rigs then we all must come against it. Infact, we must not allow it happen in the first place. Nigeria should employ the Imo state 2011 example of voting and protecting our votes. See something. Say something. Do something. If that is done and Jonathan wins, even if he's not perfect, Abagworo support and help him. If the man Buhari, Fashola, Oshomole, any man that runs and wins, let's join hands and lift him, and indeed, our self up cos our people if you must keep a man on the mud you must remain there with him. Onye ji nmadu n'ala ji onwe ya.
PoliticsRe: What Will Happen If Jonathan Wins 2015 Presidential Election? by 1MCN(op): 5:19pm On Jun 27, 2013
mandarin: Just as an analyst lets look at all possibilities and permutations. The Northwest and Northeast will NOT vote for Jonathan whether he perform or not, its a tribal thing about the Presidency returning to the North and that will persist till then. With the President's support for the Southeast developmental programs(i like it though) he will win massively in the southeast and south south(a strong possibility).
The President is left with two regions that can make or mar his ambition the southwest and the middle belt regions. He certainly needs the southwest to win, honestly and honestly being the second largest voting bloc in Nigeria and unlike in 2011 that the President was always in Lagos virtually every evening to make up with the likes of Tinubu and ACN,that may not work in 2015.
The greatest threat to the President is any alliance that can pull 80% of votes in the Northwest/Northeast/Southwest in favor of opposition candidate. That will give the opposition an easy majority votes. The middle Belt is another problem that can be either way for the President for instance Niger, Adamawa and Nasarawa are not likely to be won by the President and with ACN performance in Kwara and Benue the last election, its not looking rosy except anyone just wish to brag in his/her sitting room. This is not a chest thumbing stuff but the wisdom of opposition to put all their eggs in a basket so as to ensure there is no votes division.
I do not really believe the current merger will solve Nigeria's problem but its geared at dislodging the ruling party and its power base in the west which would have been a help for the President does not exist anymore because people love their governors across the region and even with Fasheun's UPN, it still will not work may be except the President do extra ordinary things.
I think the President made the mistake of sidelining the Yoruba people and hiring one of them to tongue lash them! These were the same people that advocated resource control for Niger Deltans and I don't think there is much he can do to persuade them.
The ensuing political clime will do Nigeria good because it will break all the politicians asunder.JUST MY OPINION
Your analysis makes for a good academic piece. From that, we can at least and best expect a tie and then there'll be a re-run. That then will sure give more headache than a grandslam. Maybe with a few projects like the Lagos-Ibadan express, and many more the Presdient may win my hearts of oradinary people especially the undecided. There's a huge population of Igbos in Lagos, Ibadan, Abeokuta, Sango, Nassarawa, abuja, Jos, Kano, Kaduna, and also the Ijaws in Lagos, and Ondo there could be a swing. Mind you also, if the electronic voting becomes real it could also make room for internal gerrymanderring. Politicians will cash can hire registered voters from one state to another just to make up for the 2/3 states victory required by law. Whatever happens, 2015 is a year to await.
PoliticsRe: What Will Happen If Jonathan Wins 2015 Presidential Election? by 1MCN(op): 4:39pm On Jun 27, 2013
Abagworo: He cannot win 2015. He can only rig but there will be mass action if he does. PDP killed corpers and innocent people in 2011 in order to discredit the uprising but 2015 won't be that easy.
That's exactly the question. If Jonathan wins, then he rigged. Mind you that am not galvinzing support for Jonathan. In 2010, he said what politicians around the world dare not say-- he said, 'let no one rig any eleection for me. If I win I'd have set the record as a President who conducted an election without manipulating the results and won, if I fail I'll set the record for other leaders that a sitting President can run in an election and still fail'. He also said, ' my election is not worth the life of any Nigerian...'
So the question remain, if GEJ runs and wins would as a person ever believe he won?
PoliticsRe: What Will Happen If Jonathan Wins 2015 Presidential Election? by 1MCN(op): 3:27pm On Jun 27, 2013
duality: @OP, people voice what they want to believe not necessarily because they are really sure of it. Let me be very honest with you, I may not vote for GEJ in 2015 because for now I'm not sure of what will happen. besides, I did not vote for him in 2011 and that did't stop him from winning. I have done a serious consultation and the honest fact is that; if GEJ runs for the presidency in 2015, he will win no matter who runs against him. This may be hard to believe but look, its the hard truth. People can thereafter analyse it scientifically or politically or in whatever way they like. This man's rating will suddenly skyrocket prior to the 2015 election.

The only thing that can stop GEJ, is if he does not run. let me say it better (The only thing that can stop GEJ is GEJ)

I challenge any one to go find out from seers or whatever way the feel like.

forget all we say on the media human beings are so weak. only those who separate themselves become strong and immune to the forces that want to control them; but this requires sacrifices many are not willing to make.
My good friend, your candour is uncommon. Thanks.
But you said you wont vote for GEJ. Maybe not because you dont think he has performed or he's the right person. But you said, ' because you dont know what will happen'. While am not gonna campaign for him, I think it's best for you to put down some trivial mundane sentiments and cast to your conscience. You cant afford to sit on the fence against your convictions just cos of tribe, party affiliation, religion or the other irrelevant opinion of others.
Personally, I feel your same view that GEJ's rating may skyrocket. Most of all, I think our merger Opposition is over rating their strength or trying to massage the ego of their disciples by over laundering the image of the proposed merger. If things continue to go the way they go now, or even improve more, it might be overwhelming the amount of voices that will rise in support of GEJ in 2015, even far more than that in 2011. I have also sampled causual opinions, a lot of media houses and practitioners are solidly behind this GEJ man, even a lot of industrialists and youths and business people. If he keeps his head up and continues to work, he may not need to even bother with so much campaign cos he'd have so much to show for his spent years.
Maybe only time will tell.

slimghost: The animals in the North will as usual destroy lives and properties. So i advise all my Igbo and ND brothers to head home because its so so so obvious GEJ is winning the 2015 election.
My brother, I dont think they're animals anyway. They, too, have right to their own political convictions. Only that they must not foist it on others cos this is what makes them destroy lives and property after they have lost. If GEJ runs and eventually wins then one lesson must be learned, namely, that all this loud noise we're hearing actually comes from a very few loquacious hollow heads who think they can infuse their confusion against onto the convictions of others. However, only time will tell who's right or wrong. When the chips are down.
PoliticsWhat Will Happen If Jonathan Wins 2015 Presidential Election? by 1MCN(op): 1:13pm On Jun 27, 2013
Often times when I read comments by some people here on NL and in some newspapers in Nigeria like The Nation etc, about how dead sure some people opine that Jonathan will be defeated in the 2015 Presidential election and the way they swear almost with their life I begin to wonder what will happen if Jonathan gets to eventually run and win in that election.
Last time Gen. M. Buhari was reported as saying that dog and baboon will mingle in blood if the next general elections are rigged. It is my hope and prayer that the elections should be free and fair. But the question is, 'what is the definition of a free and fair election?' Is it one in which the opposition wins? Is it only one in which Jonathan looses? Is that the definition of a free and fair election? Because, I doubt if our Opposition with all it's loqaucity can afford to honourably conceed to defeat.
Some Yoruba folks here seem to be so sure (whatever energizes their faith) that they, with the APC apparatus, will most definitely oust the president. They say this with the most dogmatic believe in the merger party that one would wonder if for any reason in life Jonathan returns in 2015 what will happen? Will this noise stop? Will people keep quiet and hide their head in shame? Or will it birth a much loudy noise and madness? Will they sue for seccession?
What will happen to Nigeria and Nigerians if Jonathan wins 2015 Presidential election?
PoliticsRe: Julius Berger Begins Work On 2nd Niger Bridge. by 1MCN: 3:17pm On Jun 25, 2013
Build the Niger bridge, dredge the lower River Niger and make it capable of berthing high volume ships, build electricity. Then see the SE transform itself into the most industrialized region in sub-saharan Africa without making any noise. Igbos dont care who becomes the President of Nigeria then. They'd be the least to cry to govt to create jobs. They'd make the world beg them for human and material assistance.

When the FG withdrew that case there seemed to be great jubilations and shouts of victory especially among opposition members. But then my apprehension grew so red cos I know that this particular issue wasnt a one the govt could take with a pinch of salt.
The FG seems to have a good case here cos if that document LN published was not forged I believe it must not be a public document ( an A-Classified document) and therefore it'd be illegal for them to have possession of it. If they actually forged it! Eh, na loooonnnngggg thing dem don enter so. And that's why Falana did not go into defending them but rather started by challenging the competence of the earlier court to handle the case. Now we wait for the battle that will either bring the PDP down for good or the opposition. But the trial judge am sure must always be putting Ayo Salami in mind when making his decisions.

pro2010: All this talk about protecting the interest of Nigerians by the minister of foreign affairs is BULLSHIT! How about focusing on making Nigeria a better place, creating a hospitable and business friendly environment where infrastructures really work and Nigerians are in no hurry to leave? it doesn't matter if the proposed policy is political, the British are tackling their problems headlong and they do not owe us any apology. If you must go to Britain, make sure you have business being in Britain. I wish other western countries would take cue and adopt this same immigration policy as Britain, its high time we stop being weaklings and fight for our right in our country. Nigeria is for all of us, though that is a proposition we are yet to assert.
My brother, you're right about making Nigeria a better place to live in and providing functional infrastructure and good jobs for Nigerians. But permit me to say also that you're wrong about saying the foreign policy is bullshit. It's not in the purview of the office of Dr Ashiru to create those jobs and build those infrastructure. And he wouldn't need to wait until those are done before he acts on issues concerning his core mandate. Afterall, there's no country whose citizens dont migrate to other countries no matter how good the country is. I assume you're Yoruba. That other Yoruba guy Ashiru is doing well in his office. So are those other two Yoruba guys who are supposed to create jobs in Trade and Investments & in Agriculture, Aganga and Adesina also doing very well. In a nation of over 40million unemployed people even if govt creates 4million jobs in 2yrs one can hardly notice it cos of the fractional difference between 4 and 40million!-- am not holding forth for the govt at that though. Just been objective.
PoliticsRe: £3,000 Visa Bond: FG Summons British Highcommissioner by 1MCN: 9:29am On Jun 25, 2013
I must commend this present govt for its foreign policy. Eversince this govt started there's been a litany of cases of maltreatment of Nigeria and Nigerians by other countries and they've all been fiercely fought against and won by the Nigerian govt. Something that'd just come and go in the past with victims only licking their wounds.
From the SA yellow fever card to the BA saga to the Ethopian execution, the Chinese jailing, and the Kenyan deportation. And now this poke in our eyes by the UK.
I know that the (corrupt) elite politicians and their cohorts are not even the targets of this policy but that poor Chinedu importer who takes a trip to the UK for business only to overstay his schedule. The business partners dont repay him for the overtime and delay and yet their home govt charges him close to a million naira for the faults of the people!
Let's pray Nigeria wins this battle again. Heroes are made by the number of battles they win and not the number of supporters they have.

I'd be risking a ban for telling this truth, or at least hiding this post. But am compelled by my convictions to tell it.
The Yoruba man is always destroying himself and his people by himself. Most of those who signed the Annulment document against MKO were Yorubas and their Hausa-Fulani-Kanuri friends. The Yorubas were the greatest saboteurs of the Shonekan administration both at the executive, judiciary and legislature- it took a Chuba Okadigbo to raise a support for the poor president. And today, a Yorubaman want to sale the remaining soul of his people to the same Hausa-Fulan-Kanuri matrimony and the people are in high elation and frenz for it. I only wish them goodluck in their struggles.

I do not intent to drag partisan politics into this matter of monumental importance but I'd like to expalin what I saw at the state General Hospital Ota, Ogun state about last 2wks when I visited a friend's sister who had put to bed. Although the premises wasnt large enough most part of the unbuilt spaces were field with bush capable of sustaining dangerous snakes. The hospital didnt have a cordinated power source as almost every department was using small generators a little bigger than the ones we call "I pass my nebo" here. That created too much noise in the compound. The nursing staff were badly irrascible as they'd talk to you like they're coaxed into the job. There was no public dispensary and we had to get all prescribed drugs from pharmacies in the town at Sango. The general condition of the General hospital was worse than anyone I've seen in the East even though I had thought the one in Ebonyi was so bad before I met this one.
On the lighter mood, I discovered they called that Amosun guy AMUSU. If only you know what amusu means in Igbo!
PoliticsRe: *2015 ELECTION!** APC Allocates Offices by 1MCN: 3:39am On Jun 24, 2013
A Buhari ticket in 2015-no matter his running mate- is like what they call in Philosophy Argumentum ad popullum/misericordiae (fallacy of the appeal to public mercy). You dont win an election with such an effervescent appeal. Not with an intelligent and educated electorate. Not in a diverse nation like Nigeria. The largest suppporters of Buhari are the illiterate "ordinaries" in the north mainly cos they lack the intellectual sagacity to critically analyze the bases of their stance, a few educated ones mainly for what they hope to gain--namely, power and influence. The South west supports the man not cos they dont have reservations about him but cos they're overzealously ambitious to boot out the govt at the centre, and that's the reason for their continued emphasis and obsession on that. Maybe cos victory is always difficult to handle. Their ability to over power the PDP in most parts of their region may have given them some kind of false sense of omnipotence. Well, I wish them luck still, as a neautral observer with just one vote.

Meanwhile I think 2015 is the only time we will witness a truly democratic election contrary to the unsavoury predictions of enemies of our nationhood from accross and abroad. I dont see Jonathan as a desperate politician. If he could say in 2011 that his ambition was not worth the blood of any Nigerian then I feel he'll re-affirm that in 2015 if he re-contests. My prayer is that the opposition party(ies) will come up with candiddates whose credentials are worth looking at a second time. This will greatly enrich our electioneering and make it more an intellectual competition that the brigandry it has been since 1999.

Olaolufred: YOU ARE SEEING THE BIGGER PICTURE THAT IS HIDDEN FROM MOST NIGERIANS.
SOME DUE TO ILLITERACY
SOME DUE TO SENTIMENTS
SOME DUE TO WHAT TO EAT.
BUT OPPOSITION IS WHAT MAKES ROOM FOR COMPETITION AND BETTER SERVICE.
NIGERIANS WILL BE THE BETTER OF IT.
THANKS.
My bro, although am not a political science scholar, we dont need so much expertise to know that a vibrant political ambience is what Nigeria needs. Most supporters of our ruling party think that all Nigeria needs is to 'rally round' the present govt and help it to succeed. Of course, I dont think we shouldnt. I dont think we should pull it down-as some mischievious people are also attempting to. I think we can support the govt to succeed by disagreeing with it in a way that is of course not disagreeable whenever it steps away from the track of reason. Any ruling party at any level whether PDP, ACN, ANPP, LP, APGA, CPC, APC, etc knows that there's a party strong enough to take over from it at the slighest mistake then it would no longer be a matter of choice or special kind of Godliness to perform. It will now be an obligation. And you know, Nigerians will be better for it. That's more like a free market system where competition is the only weapon of the customer.
PoliticsRe: Whatever Happens, Come 2015 Opposition Will Win by 1MCN(op): 2:48pm On Jun 21, 2013
In the face of a plethora of challenges facing our corporate existence as a nation and our collective destiny, one can only but agree that Nigeria deserves not just an opposition that barks, menaces and makes loud noisy but one that is made sufficiently formidable to take over from the ruling party given any slight opportunity. With this, the party in power will know that it's destiny lies in its appeal to the people based on no other sentiment than performance.

PoliticsRe: List Of Candidates For Anambra 2014 Governorship Election by 1MCN: 3:26pm On Jun 18, 2013
The list has been slimmed down this time around. In the last election it was 63 for a single ticket. But this does not show confusion. One thing is, Anambra politics is the biggest state politics in Nigeria. Bigger than some countries in Africa. And Anambra is the state with the highest number of resourceful people in Nigeria (dont just argue it, am not from there. If you doubt it just name 10 most popular Igbomen, Nigerians, you know in every field of life and I tell you, you may just be naming 6 Anambra indigenes!)
The real contestants there are Ngige and Charles, and maybe Ekwunife. Although Ngige was good, but I just wish Charles Soludo will emerge. He needs to come build the commerce potential in Onitsha and Nnewi. And repatriate Igbo traders billowing the economy of Lagos and Kano. Ngige will develop Anambra but Charles will develop not just Anambra but the East.
PoliticsWhatever Happens, Come 2015 Opposition Will Win by 1MCN(op): 10:38am On Jun 17, 2013
Whatever happens to Nigeria and Nigerians between now and 2015, it will be a victory for the Opposition parties. By this victory I dont mean just winning elections. Never in Nigerian history have we experienced such vibrant opposition and press freedom and people involvement as we now have it in this present administration.
It is my prayer, and perhaps, the prayer of most Nigerians that the country becomes a better place to live in and work and school and enjoy life. Presently that doesnt seem to have taken flesh. But however there seems to be hope and faith.
In my opinion, if the present govt at the centre fails to make this hope real, opposition parties will say they've always known it that this govt was inept. And that will win them so much disciples on their side.
If, on the other hand this govt succeeds to fix the nation substantially, opposition will definitely also win cos they'd say it was their close marking and very coarsely aggressive critiquing and refereeing that has lead to the success been experienced. If the later happens Jonathan will be happy about it and feel fulfilled and Nigerians will be better for it.

I dont find the source of this news as a reliable one. Looks like the too many sensational e-huts that are brewing out news without license.
@Topic, although they might choose to cede party positions and avoid the emcumberances and embarassments of elections in Nigeria but they cant afford to take this risk of openly zoning public elective positions cos that will tell the electorate that they're not a better option. And that means nail on their coffin.
I suppose they cant be so un-intelligent.
Meanwhile, am insisting that both the Ruling and the Opposition parties should know that no matter how hard they work one can also lose the election. So we dont want any dog and baboon blood story if they eventually lose. In Political Science the definition of a credible election is not one in which opposition wins ruling party nor the other way round.

The most attractive part of this elder's speech is his sincerity in acknowledging the achievements of his governor whom he's in opposition with. Without prejudice he could say it the way it is. Again was his sincerity in saying it was his party that went for Adams' friendship and not the other way round. If only all our opposition everywhere in this country could tell us all the simple truth like this one, maybe, and just maybe we'd have a much better society.

First of all, this source (OluFamous.com) is something less than a reliable authority.
I personally listened to a live interview granted by Ike Ekweremadu on Thursday on Raypower's Political Platform radio programme and this question about targeted individual(s) and date of kick off was asked and he responded by saying the committee never made any recommendations about date of kick off or mentioned who benefits.
It was Jonathan that made this proposal of single tenure 1st, so if it would exclude him and he's interested he'll simply thwart it. How can he do that? When all is said and done at NASS and he couldnt have his way, he'll wait for them to submit it to his table for assenting. By the 1999 constitution he must do this not later than 30 working days from the day of submission otherwise the Assembly automatically overrides it. But if he makes just one single suggestion or correction they start all over again from 1st reading.
So what does he need to do? He'll wait till the 29th day and then send them an amendment or objection. Hopefully by this time it's already mid-2014. With the old constitution already functional. Then you know what that means.
But mind you, this noise about when the clause takes effect and who benefits from it is just been beaten by desperate opposition seeking every possible means to oust Jonathan from office. Most members of this Review Committee are PDP members so am not sure a sane man will be so highly hopeful that they would want to take that RISK of putting themselves at mercy.
I repeat, the recommendation as presented has no suggestion on take off date or who benefits.

I have personally craved for a very vibrant and daring opposition political party in this country for years. But my fear with this APC is their lauqacity and whinning and their rather too much emphasis on wrestling power as if it's just a game of who grabs the biggest share no matter how. And I feel this APC is just using the head of their supporters just to get there. I hope and pray they dissapoint my fears anyway.
In the 1st month this merger was announced this same senate benchwarmer Oluremi in an interview said she was the next Senate President in the waiting. I wondered how that was gonna be cos at least her party has to be majority 1st of all and then the senate election. But meanwhile, she'd re-contest for her mandate back in Lagos Central. Is it that she's been assured of express mandate? Does there exist anything like internal democracy? Maybe we're just dealing with same commodities with different product labels.

I have repeatedly said it that if GEJ by any means wins this fight against the BH insurgents then those agitating for northern president and those who plan to wrestle power from GEJ come 2015 can as well forget it entirely cos GEJ would massively win the love, support and votes of the local people in the north who have seen the eye of the BH storm face to face. If peace ever returns to the north, which I personally pray it does, then those illwill politicians are swimming against the current in their 2015 ambition.
