I was not surprise too. They have the right, and they should exercise it. When I heard of the appeal something came to my mind, and it's like this: 1st Person- Now, he's been released a lot is at stake. We cant deny we definitely have some (our) interests to cover. We cant deny the political angle to this whole drama. We have to act now or loss the loyalty of some supporters and the support of some benefactors. 2nd Person- I think, rather, we should let it be and give it up for God. Let's concentrate on prosecuting the 2015 elections. 3rd Person- But this judgement has obvious grave implications for 2015. 2nd Person- We can handle them as they come. We have an impasse here. 1st Person- But what harm are we standing if we appeal, at least to make a political statement? 4th Person- Are we thinking about getting a judgement before 2015 when it took 14yrs to arrive here? When all of this is already for 2015? When the same people pay the pipers and can pluck the string at will? 5th Person- Let's appeal even if we dont get judgement. At least for political reasons; for our loyalists and our benefactors. We have to work doubly hard to collate harder facts and we have to engage the media propaganda. Do anything and everything to make sure these beasts dont achieve their heinous aims. |
I have no doubt that Jonathan is brilliantly calculative, calm and tactful. A man that never says too much word when he's working must have special a concentration and focus gene. Well, he actually told Nigerians that it'll take them 2013-2014 to begin to praise and appreciate his administration. I insist that if Jonathan contests again, then opposition has an almost impossible uphill task and noise and slander woudn't save them. |
MaximusDMeridux: And after 4 years of the Otuekwe retardeen, this is what the ND still get? Well they deserve it! I was one of the people a few years ago, agitating, writing on behalf of the ND but it is now clear they love this kind of suffering especially if their retardeenic daftluck is well fed and his 1 Billion Naira hippopotamus wife is feeding fat on their destiny. Good riddance! When the retardeen is eventually shoved aside, you people can only suffer even more because now that there is great opportunity for a change, clean up and sanitizing of Nigeria and your life, he is more interested in remaining in Aso Rock than make change! Thunder fire all of una sef! It's in my habit to ignore people who go about using foul languages on people just to prove an idea. It disturbes me how most Yorubas (am really sorry I have to mention a people, but that's what I've continued to see here on NL) just believe that they're living in paradise. Some people have discribed it as 'fools paradise'. Even those of them you think are educated just disappoint you when they speak/write! @Topic, I hope Nigerians remember that oil wasn't discovered in the ND just last year. After several years of patience with the government, the ND people have been forced into 'criminality' just to survive. I work in the creeks of the ND (most of you guys expressing your views have not, and perhaps would never, visit these places and their people) I have seen the 'gbofire' refineries and their operators. While I dont support their activity I tell you, these people need to grant the government amnesty for the crimes they (the govt) have committed against them. Nature placed a highly priced mineral in their soil, but gave them a terrible soil also! It takes more than 100 times more to construct 1K of road in most of these areas than in the upland, and then govt will give them a paltry 13% and begin to jump up and down. Man, take a trip to the heart of these inner creeks, these people are suffering. And the govt is guilty. The President and his sister, Deziani can only perform with the existing 13 per cent law, but are trying to push the PIB. Why cant it pass, Nigeria?! |
I do not intend to either clear Jonathan of any corruption charges or allege that he's corrupt. But let me remind mr Dino. The problem with Dino and Bankole started when in 2010 while he was a member of an ad hoc committee in House of Rep, at Bankole's Asokoro residence, he, Dino, felt that the sharing formular for the fallouts of that committee was inequittable. He refused his share of the deal and went to the streets and started shouting 'corruption' everywhere (there are video evidence too). He pitched intransigiently against the leadership of the House, which led to his suspension. He turned an 'activist'. Before his election into the House he had only his utility car but as he left the House he had fleet of exotic luxury SUVs with the least selling at N9M! When recently he was questioned by one of his followers on facebook about this all he could say was that it takes the rich to save the poor, the poor can not save themselves by themselves. During the fuel subsidy crisis in 2012 he rode on a bicycle to Daar Communications Complex saying he could no longer buy petrol to fuel his CARS. Dino, or Gino, is one man I can never take as an activist in whatever way. |
Onlytruth: Anambra guber: How the candidates ’ll emerge |
D'Banj was unarguably a fever in those days but eversince he left Don Jazzy he seems to have lost aura and the rudder. Giving the impression that his fame was gold plated by his producer/marketer and the team. Even the beautiful 'All Over The World' song he released couldnt appeal to people as before. Sometimes I wonder if he's still in the music industry. He should do something now, and fast too, before he goes into oblivion. When Tuface left Kennis, he was still able to lift his head above the waters. |
But, truth be told, Mr Jonathan and his team are working. |
Is that not the General Theophilus Danjuma that killed Aguiyi Ironsi?! I think these northern political strategists are in a pitiably hopeless desperation for the presidency that they forget that the Constitution and other extant Laws say the candidate must win in every geopolitical region. I wonder how they want to convince the SE about a man they're wishing to catch in the hand and give his flesh to scavengers! |
This man is a man of very few words. We all know the Nigerian state had hit the bottom under the hands of his political kinsmen, the PDP. But it does appear we're resurfacing. If he's been commissioned by divinity to salvage this moribund nation state then we can only but pray God to strengthen his resolve. And direct his course aright for God's glory and the blessing of humankind. Amen |
Could there be a better news! Am not exactly from Anambra, but as Nwa'fo I know that this is not just good for Anambra. It's good for Nd'Igbo. Cant wait for him to fulfill the promise of making Onitsha and Nnewi that world trade centre he promised in his 2010 campaign and Aba that Technology hub of Africa. This is my personal vision for the East, proposed according to each's comparative advantage: 1. Make Anambra Africa's largest commercial centre 2. Abia, our home for technology and manufacturing. 3. Imo, centre of education and research and oil and gas. 4. Enugu, the tourism and entertainment home. 5. Ebonyi, our source of Agricultural produce both crops and livestock. Of course, every state will have the presence of each of those sectors but a state must perfect at leat one to global landmark. Meanwhile, I've developed a comprehesive development strategy for Southeast awaiting publication. Chukwu gozie Alaigbo ebem si bia ma ndi ya nile. Ise! |
I'd simply humbly apoligize to my modem for burning the MBs in it to listen to this. how best can I describe this: So much lightening, to much thunder, little or no rain! |
Sometime ago, some people said here on NL that they were going to stage a protest in Abuja on a particular Thursday to register their displeasure over the leadership style of Mr Jonathan. I never heard that the protest held. Now, another one. Is it now a Thursday, Thursday threat? But, how I wish I could see the children of Momoh, Tinubu, Buhari, Obla, Lai, Fashakin, etc on the forefront. Or, sorry, they're all on Summer holiday in Miami and Bahama beaches. Anyways, there'll always enough of "the ordinary Nigerians in defence of democracy" to do the protesting for them. |
Pro Anti: Tombia street, GRA phase 2 was blocked this afternoon. Policemen prevented people from entering Jevinik restaurant, Genesis centre and into Tombia street.I dont think you're correct, sir about 'prevented people from entering'. . . My office is in GRA 1. There is unusual prominent security presence especially around the Polo Club (Le Meridian Ogeyi) gates. @Abagworo, pls name where you saw roadblocks cos I didnt run into any today. If there's any at Kpaima Mortuary as someone has said I dont think it constitutes 'roadblocks every in PH'. (It's like you're hate for the President's family too obviously personal) Although I encountered the regular pockets traffic grids. None lasted over 10mins. The major road leading to PEJ's hometown from Aba Road is Eleme Jnxn. There's absolutely free. Am passing there now. |
Mr Yerima Sani Ahmed has brought himself up again in his infamous way. In the past few days, his ignoble cowing of fellow parliamentarians to retain a clause in the Law that supports his paedophilia has just added insult to injury to the sensitivity and sensibility of the Nigerian people. The shameless man whose voodoo only survives by the desecration of underaged virgin girls did not stop at his devilish incandescence in taking a 13-year old Egyptian minor as bride. After loosing the vote to retain the controversial Section 29 (4) (b), he realized he was about to be drown in mud. Then knowing the religious sentiments of our country and the religious distribution of the Senate clung to that only sentiment to save himself. Alas, he got "saved". But what are the lessons of this who saga?: 1. In an effort to "save" our religious tenets most Nigerians will lose their sense of reason and act or follow sheepishly. 2. Some people act before they think, e.g, Sen Ayo from Ondo. 3. A lot of people hide under Islam in Nigeria (and around the world) to commit many unthinkable crimes when most times these crimes are not directly supported by Islam. 4. Nigerians have clearly seen that most of their Lawmakers are not as celebral and analytical as they claim during electioneering. 5. Most Nigerian politicians would rather protect party, family, friends, person, religion than their country and its people. 6. A good number of our Lawmakers only sit their and wait for Aye and Nay votes (now to press the Yes or No button). They dont follow the proceedings and arguments in body and spirit. I keep wondering why that clause to a second vote when it had initially gotten the required 73 votes to be expunged? Why the sudden uncalculated spontaneity to vote NO to a clause one just voted YES to? |
It's simple: Hold mammoth mass protests in his constituency office(s) and home(s) in Edo and Abuja. Publish it in both print and electronic media to register your displeasure. Recall him or...just buy him a tin of coffee so he'd drink and stay awake during sessions for the mean time until his tenure elapses. |
I think the only sin the Nigerian people have against that woman is her leprose English grammar. And even though I possess a training in English Phonetics and Communication, I have absolutely no problem with her (improving) English cos I know that mastery of English (or any other foreign language for that matter) and fluence is not a test of intelligence. That woman, I think, is a very strong and articulate woman who knows what she wants of life and does not deter herself by any of her disadvantages. Most people who criticise her unfortunately do not have a mother who has helped her husband through thick and thin as that woman has! If we say, "That's what you get when you marry an illiterate woman." I begin to ask, 'is the definition of illiteracy simply ''lack of knowledge of spoken English?'' Oyiboman psychological conquest of the blackman! |
How I wish this protest would be real and even more massive than the Fuel Subsidy Removal protest of January last year. I feel basely dissappointed with our so-called Lawmakers. In sane societies Mr Yerima would be ostracised and stripped of all recognitions by his local people for his brazen and psychadelic paedophilia! |
But Nigeria is not the organizers nah. It's just the venue. Does the Silverbird Group have any right to refuse a village chief access to a wedding feast whose venue is at Occassions and Events just cos the "Human Rights" activists in the chief's village say the chief is a murders? Even when O&E is not liable to either the man, the case or the victims. I think people just mischievoulsy want to rope Nigeria in and disrepute it. A case of calling a dog a bad name just to hang it. And unfortunately some Nigerians will begin to curse their govt on this! The HR organizations should mention (or sanction) AU that writes and issues the invitations and not Nigeria. |
Lwkmd. Just a few hours after releasing Al-mustapha. Did they think that will win an election for GEJ? GEJ just released the 1st person capable of chasing him away with a coup. Fresh mess.
Swthrt, didnt actually want to join in this debate until I read your comment. Your argument, I think, is rather the reverse. If the man was a threat to GEJ's re-election I think it'd rather make more logical sense to keep him incarcerated where he has no access to men and materials to plot and execute a coup. Now, after about 15yrs in jail alot of water has passed under the bridge not to his favour. Most of his accolytes and comrades have changed levels and he's lost plenty of influence. I doubt if he was released cos of fear of coup. Maybe to come and spoil show for some who're canonized as saints today in a crime they too are complicit. Just my thinking though. Only time will tell. |
Self prophecy is highly effectual. I am a personal testimony of it's powers. But let me remind fellow Christians that that things never get to change just by chanting some prophesy canticles. You need knowledge--of the Word and Promises of God. Read the scriptures. Daily. Need I say pray constantly and trustfully. Ask God for directions in your challenge. Tell him to enable you make the changes in your life which you may require to break through your challenge. And be disposed to make any changes if he prescribes. Be charitable to other people. Wear a godly look. Smile (Dont tell it to the leaves of the bush part that your life is worse of. Never pretend either. Be real). Be patient with God! I say these, brethren, from a bitter experience. Today am a better person. Never be the type of Christian St Thomas Aquinas called Mercenary Christians-- who know God only when things are rosy. Or the types he described as Servile Christians--who come to Him when their ship is sinking. God bless His Church and its adherents thru Christ. Amen. |
I think from what's happening now, if GEJ does not return in 2015 Nigeria may be made more ungovernable by the SS and maybe parts of the SE cos the people will feel that the other guys in the northern hemisphere, and parts of the SW made the nation ungovernable for their "brother" as promised. You may not believe it but the "ungovernability" will be monumental and may split us apart (save this is exactly what we are working at). I can tell you that as the elections draw close consultations will be made by the power brokers and compromises will be reached at in a venue you and I dont have access to. But mind you, opposition and (largely the Yorubas) are making TDW and CRA super heroes not cos the duo are Mother Teresa but cos they're enemies to their enemy. |
I honestly dont know what to make of this. Not sure whether to call it triumph of Justice or its Trample cos I dont have comprehensive details of this Al-Mustapha saga as it unfolded over the past decade. But one thing sits stubbornly put in my mind: This judgement is going to have grand implication and impact in our polity and politics from now to 2015. Who's likely to benefit between the ruling party and opposition I can't really predict. I know that the videos he promised to release to Nigerians are certainly gonna butcher the political career of a few or many. We're certainly staying tunned on this one! Let the camera roll! (Nigerians have already filled the YouTube with several non-AGN movies). |
I watched the live proceeding of the session on the tv and I was shocked with the way the Senator made that allegation in a very reprehensibly irresponsible manner even when he hadn't substantive prove for his claim. But, anyway, our democracy is evolving (I still thank the administration in power for allowing so much public stakeholder participation and not attempting to muffle contrary views and opinions). Now our leaders are learning that things must be done transparently and that they're accountable to some people out there. Let the metamorphosis go on, with all the hysteria and endothermic effects it generates (apologies to Physics scholars for using their terms). |
What a verbose piece! I had to urge my spirit on cos justice demands you listen to each side of the divide. That said, I suggest that NASS in joint plenary should collect at least 10 of the different versions of this "movie" that people are bandiding about and take time to watch all in full and in public session (even if that's all they do for that day) in the interest of justice and national correction. The Asari copy should also be included. Anyone found culpable of complexit should be dealt with ruthlessly. Let's just get over this and focus on important national development. The noise of a few should not usurp the morality of majority. God bless Nigeria and Nigerians |
take dat: Oh! You were probably still a toddler when OBJ was called different unprintable names! |
But why is this supposed elder statesman still unrepentantly and unabately threatening this nation with violence and carnage and vitriols? Reinforcing the argument and believe that he's a major sponsor of the bloodletting in our country? What manner of anger could make a man sound so crass, cranky and ireesponsible? Have he not seen (had) enough blood? Someone pls tell him that the fire he's stoking may first consume him all and what are dearest and nearest to him! |
My sincere sympathy goes to the families and friends of these victims who're going to get the heavy side of the stick. But sometimes I read on this forum some very unimaginable things some Yoruba folks say when Igbo traders are killed in the north. Just 4 people in May and 10 in July (one death of course is big enough to make us weep) but Igbos have lost it in several scores and all they hear from their so-called One Nigerians would rather be to jeer them! May heavens save our nation from all of this deaths and pains and heal our land and it's injured peoples. God Bless Nigeria and Nigerians |
One thing got my interest in this (permit me to digress a little pls). If that Igirigi of a machine was built by an Igbo military engineer that engineer should be jailed for wrong brand naming of the equipment and premeditated deceit. Igirigi in Igbo means DEW and that's the direct opposite of the kind of things that precipitate from the muzzle of that machine! It's never cool like igirigi! It negates the name! |
@Ms(or Mrs) , please I'd want you to hastily make the clarification in the comment the other man made which you've acknowledged cos it's both contrary and contradictory as well critical. @Topic, I've listened to great debates about the person and persona of GMB. I think those who support him are being rather too fanatical about the man, and those who loathe him are being mischieviously scandalous knowing that their allegations are only but desperation to conquer their fear. But however, the man's two greatest discredits are his part and patrimony in the Shagari coup, and his recent ill-informed and ill-timed, unsensible and insensitive stance on the Boko Haram issue. For me as a person, what turns me off most is that in 2007 when he lost an election against his kinsman, Yar'adua in an election the whole world even the beneficiary said it was corrupt, he (GMB) took to court. I watched the live ruling on that case. The evidence presented were stupifying and mortifying but he accepted it in good faith (no pyrotechnique/banger knockouts sounded). But just when he lost against another man from the 'enemies' region' in another election that was adjudged fair and free (to a large extent) his supporters took to destruction of lives and property shouting 'Sai Buhari'--that which we still suffer uptill now as a nation. He might not have ordered that but his statements made him complicit. He definitely has a lot of image redeeming to do here. He might be a good man, but he needs to make the man in him good. |
I think this allegation deserves very serious investigations. Born 1979 and acquired a Dip at age 15 is a thing to cross check thoroughly! Nigerian youths with political awareness, this is the particular kind of issues we should all get mad at cos this man will be sitting on another man's legitimate mandate. I dont say any useless and distracting partisan mud throwing should suffice, pls. How I wish this can be taken more seriously than the "Oga at the top" saga. I want to wake up and hear that this man has been dismissed by the court like the other House member from somewhere in the north last time that came in with a forged O'Level cert. |
@OP, you asked the position of the new Electoral Law (as amended) on the issue of party formation. I do not belong to the Legal trade but I doubt if the Law states that executive office holders of a Political Party MUST be drawn from the three major religions in the country. It may say that its members must not ALL be from a single region (I dont know) but not religion. But however, does ones religion automatically confer leadership virtues on him/her? Havent we got good muslim political leaders in Nigeria and around the world? Or do you just intend to do a cheap discredit to the proposed merger party? That party may end up not posing so much threat as you imagine to your PDP in the general elections so relax your nerves. |
