it does! The simple truth here is just that none of them will have achieve the succes they've achieved without one of them being there. Bacause these guys always motivate each other to be the best. Messi wouldn't have been the same without ronaldo and also ronaldo wouldn't have been the same without messi. This is because if messi hits 2 or 3 goals in a match ronaldo would be looking forward to score the same or even higher likewise if ronaldo hits 2 or 3 goals in a match messi would be looking forward to score the same or even higher. Just look at their goal ratio before 2009 when ronaldo is at Man utd and look at their goal ratio afterwards when ronaldo arrived at madrid. You will see they are almost the same. They have not been performing at the top level until ronaldo arrives in spain, that's when they started performing at the top level. And as far as both of them are still in spain the rivalry continues and they keep motivating each other to be the best. Meanwhile no any other player (even neymar) have the chance to compete with them unless one leaves spain and the rivalry slows down.
