luka1981 love, for you to ask those questions, it shows that you're corrupted, you just don't know it. it is sad that someone must be related to an ex governor to disagree with ribadu's stupidity.
Re: Mallam Ribadu Dismissed From The Police! by idiopathic: 6:45pm On Dec 23, 2008
Crea8tivity, you remind me of IBB calling for the immunity clause to be removed after he singlehandedly institutionalised corruption. Your reference to Ibori is ingenious and dishonest. Your postings on this board have generally supported those that ruined Nigeria. So, stop deceiving us by mentioning Ibori.

It is decisions like this that has set Africa back for decades. Some geneticists have started asking if we are as intelligent as other races (watson).
I personally, don't know of any country ruled by a black man that is progressing, it is assuming a frightening dimension.
People have taken to the streets in Thailand, Greece for suspected acts of corruption. However, in Africa,we will rather become like zimbabwe than stand up for what is right.

There was a coup in Mauritania recently, attempted coup in Guinea Bissau a few weeks ago and a successful coup in Mali today. I hope, this wakes up our armed forces from their slumber.

Ribadu, who was promoted twice in four months, with scant regard for the promotion rules of the police, was demoted, along with 139 others by a Police Service Commission, which thought it had the important duty of righting the wrong Ribadu’s promotion and those of the others brought into the system

His promotion was illegal. He of all people should have known that and a rule is a rule. People are feeling as if he is been victimised but a rule is a rule. Then he goes on and sue his employer against the policies in the Police, Nobody is above the law and |Ribadu was an obasanjo boy and in as much as i support his brave fight against corruption, you can never rule him out of  the political intimidation he carried on obasanjo opposers on behalf of obasanjo
Re: Mallam Ribadu Dismissed From The Police! by luka1981(m): 6:54pm On Dec 23, 2008
ILLEGAL PROMOTION, our yaradua was illegally and undemocratically promoted above his seniors in politics and government. our goodluck was also goodlucky in the illegal promotion by the same illegal promoter olusegun obasanjo. now all of them should be demoted back to either minister or senator or even governor
Re: Mallam Ribadu Dismissed From The Police! by YoungBrain: 6:55pm On Dec 23, 2008
, what goes around comes around

I feel Ribadu should have left the EFCC when it was being used to witch hunt political oponents of the last administration, then he would have received overwhelming support
from Nigerians.

However, we should not be deceived by all that is going on as none of it is in Nigeria's interest

The sad truth is that we are yet to get a government that would serve all Nigerians and not just a few selfish individuals at the top
Re: Mallam Ribadu Dismissed From The Police! by texazzpete(m): 6:57pm On Dec 23, 2008
When Gani and Chinua Achebe were offfered awards, they turned it down. That was the noble thing to do as far as they were concerned, and Nigerians hailed them for it.
Ribadu was offered unmerited promotion and he accepted it. So far so good. When it comes to returning to merit he started rebelling.
I weep for my fellow Nigerians, a country of people so used to poor standards that they trumpet it out when someone simply does his job. Ribadu was hired to lead an anti-corruption agency. That was simply the job he was to do and to all intent an purposes he was empowered enough to do a decent job. So what else did he do to merit the double promotion he received?

Ribadu was demoted along with almost 100 police officers. How many of them have headed to the law courts?

Look, the man is a police officer. As such he is subordinate to the IG of the Police. He was redeployed to Benin and was expected to resume in late November. Where does the issue of 'studies' come in?

Right or wrong, he has absconded his post/duty as a police officer and as such there's every reason to dismiss him from the force.

PS: I know the kind of replies i'm likely to get. But ask yourselves one question: can you bet your life that RIbadu isn't guilty of some form of corrupt practices while in office?
Re: Mallam Ribadu Dismissed From The Police! by Jerie(m): 6:58pm On Dec 23, 2008
the npf has just dismissed a man who has the legal and criminal history of the president before he came into power. a man who has the case files of ex governors, a man who has more info on this country than even mr president. a man who has the case files of nigeria's chief law officer, the security heads, and the true position of our economy. don't forget that he headed a body that the eu gave subventions. well, now he is out of the police and nigeria, the powers that be have exposed their paucity of reasoning, and their sickly administrative capabilities.  well, at least, we now know the presidency's stance on anti-corruption.

There are no preset ranks or career paths in Politics. The only qualifications needed are age and educational history as spelt out in the Nigerian constitution. Anyone with a brain knows this. Exactly how old are you?

What Yar'adua fails to realize is that the North is not going to rule this country forever. At some point, power will shift
back to the south. He can keep persecuting yoruba people all he wants; one day he will leave power.

Re: Mallam Ribadu Dismissed From The Police! by vicade(m): 7:02pm On Dec 23, 2008
Ribadu carried out political intimidation for obasanjo and broke the rules of the police-his employer by suing them without proper authorisation amongst other things

He messed up. He broke the law. He shot himself in the foot. He helped fight corruption but in this context of hiis dismissal he is  definitely not a Matyr nor a Victim. It is just law of Karma

RIbadu is definitely no DORA AKUNYILLI
Re: Mallam Ribadu Dismissed From The Police! by maxell(f): 7:04pm On Dec 23, 2008
Ribadu will rise again once Yar'adua leaves office. He is still well respected among Nigerians and even in the international community.

i don't care what the masses stand for but the truth is that the police took long in taking this action.
the big fool was becoming bigger than the institution that made him. he went as far as taking the nigerian police to court.
he was illegally promoted. he wore a plain cloth to the official police graduation against the police rules and regulations.
since he is a lawyer and an intelligent man, now has the right to go to court even with nigeria.
one stupid idiot in the name of mamajama is claiming to be in the usa and calling for protest. na you mama and papa go protest.
who protested when he picks and discharge people at will?
who protested when he parked in front of bayalsa house of assemble waiting for a planned impeachment of alams and arrested him without looking at the laws of the land?
who protested when mrs.etteh of house or rep was impeached on the same ground and was not arrested in the same manners till date.
go and watch a nite of a thousand laughs volume 13, basket mouth said tafa balogun formed operation fire for fire and it was the same fire for fire than picked him up, that obj formed efcc that we dey wait. so we are still waiting.
Re: Mallam Ribadu Dismissed From The Police! by McKren(m): 7:16pm On Dec 23, 2008
I honestly was wishing Ribadu gets sacked so as to stoke up the necessary emotions and see if Nigerians can be energised for once.

But guys for the records, in a Presidential system of Government, most of the actions of the President is law. If the PSC was not in existence when Ribadu was promoted, the mechanism for promotion becomes recomendation by the IG and subsequent implementation by the President after which the act becomes law. Ribadu's promotion was sanctioned by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces.

If the PSC or anybody is angry Ribadu was promoted by executive order, it will require an executive order for Ribadu to be demoted. otherwise he has to commit an offence to be demoted. I am waiting for the court verdict to suggest that the PSC has the power to undo the actions of the President.

If we live in a country where the "rule of law" works. This is meant to be contempt for court process because the court is yet to rule on this matter. Parry Osayande is meant to be committed to prison.

But in the mean time I wish Mike Okiro goodluck!!!

All men of goodwill will always love the man Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.
Re: Mallam Ribadu Dismissed From The Police! by idiopathic: 7:20pm On Dec 23, 2008
Nigerians have forgotten there are other agencies involved in the fight against corruption – Police, ICPC. Compare their achievement to that of Ribadu.
According to Madam Waziri, ECFF under Ribadu returned over 5.6 billion of stolen wealth back to the government coffers. If that doesn’t warrant double promotion, what does?
Were Tafa Balogun and Samuel Afolabi OBJ’s enemies? The corrupt class and their short-sighted and brain washed friends will always find an excuse to criticise Ribadu and trivialise his achievements.
Anyone with an iota of intelligence will know this is a well rehearsed script and they have been out to get Ribadu from the moment he started touching Yaradua’s friends.

Thank you so much. Please help me ask them.

By the way, Isn't Yar'adua using Mike Okiro and Farida Warizi for political persecution ? Just as he is planning on using Akunyili's good name ?

Once Yar'adua is out of office, we will see how he will fare.
Re: Mallam Ribadu Dismissed From The Police! by zomby(m): 7:26pm On Dec 23, 2008
Ribadu is a stupid man, who finds it impossible to say no to power. He will never in his life time come close to power ever again. 100 and something officers got demoted, the only noise maker is this fool. The man can go straight to hell.
If chief Gani and Achebe could say no, thanks, one should not feel bad for this fool. He is done.

the greatest rank is in politics because politics is a game of numbers, but it takes a sensible one to know that. political corruption is the worst coruption in any nation according to wole soyinka.all the executive actors in nigeria were ilegally promoted to their post exept adam oshomolow.

IT IS ALSO VERY PAINFULL TO KNOW THAT THE PRESENT INSPECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE WAS ILLEGALLY PROMOTED AGAINST OGBONAYA ONOVO WHO SUPPORSE TO BE THE PRESENT INSPETOR GENERAL. STILL HE IS NOT YET DEMOTED.
Re: Mallam Ribadu Dismissed From The Police! by inbox(m): 7:29pm On Dec 23, 2008
A just man is just and not selective in either investigations or execution of office duties.
The man in question was not just, although he went after some individuals that had in one way or the other involved in some light fingered activities as regards govt funds, these individuals he went after where only the ones that had fallen out of favour with the president emeritus. In very simple words the man was overwhelmed by the extent to which his then office confered certain powers on him 4getting that he'll someday become a free citizen like u and i.
I am not supprised cos what goes around comes around

Re: Mallam Ribadu Dismissed From The Police! by idiopathic: 7:32pm On Dec 23, 2008
zomby, are you suggesting that people should not have the courage to challenge unfair decisions of your employers. The fact the the other 100 demoted officers did not fight their demotion is the same attitude we have in Nigeria of resigning ourselves to our fate in the face of injustice.
That is why our leaders treat us with contempt, embezzle and rig elections because they know we are cowards and spinless.
We can all see what this defeatist attitude has done to Zimbabwe.
