Examination body, Joint Admission and Matriculation Board on Thursday states that the results of candidates identified in footages of Close Circuit Television (CCTV) to have indulged in unwholesome practices during the just-concluded Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) won't be released.

Registar of JAMB, Ishaq Oloyede, who spoke on Channels Television Sunrise Daily said the agency had been busy in the past days reviewing recorded footages of the examination across the country, and that a number of candidates had been marked out for sanction.


Oloyede, was responding to a question by one of the anchors of the programme on why some candidates were yet to receive their results despite promises by JAMB to release outcomes within 24 hours.

The registrar said, “Those who have not received (their results) are qualified not to receive for now. In all cases where there were no problems, we released results of the examination within 24 hours.

“But those who have not (received their results), they may not be culpable but we are investigating. Where we have reason to doubt anything or where we have report of anything that is not acceptable to us, we have withheld the results.

“And we will keep on releasing them as we clear them. For instance, this morning, we released another 15,000 results. But among those who sat in that centre, we have reasons, concrete evidence to say about 300 of them, their results will not be released because we know they were not in the hall where the examination took place.

“We are comparing those who sat for the examination, how long they sat in the hall, and how some of them took excuses that they were going to the toilet only to go to what they called VIP…

“All this we are now able to track. And we want to say that we will not hesitate to sanction anybody no matter how highly placed.”

Mr. Oloyede said the CCTV cameras deployed at every Computer Based Test (CBT) centres across the country helped JAMB to detect and arrest unwholesome practices.

He said some centre operators however tried to sabotage his agency’s plan to make the examination fraud-free, citing the example of a centre in Kubwa, Abuja, where operators blinded the cameras with sacks to frustrate remote detection of malpractices that happened there.

The JAMB registrar appealed to credible organisations and individuals to come forward to partner JAMB in the establishment of reputable CBT centres across the country.

“Crooks are now establishing CBT centres, and meeting our requirements only to misuse the opportunities,” he said.

Tragedy struck Saturday night in Benin City, Edo state when generator fume killed three people, two women and a man. It was gathered that the unnamed occupants of the apartment located at Agherase Adu street died after inhaling smoke from the generator set reportedly kept in the kitchen. The police have since taken away the bodies.

Nigerian singer, Oluwatobiloba Daniel Anidugbe popularly known as Kiss Daniel has in a recent chat revealed his relationship with his female fans noting that he takes caution against taking advantage of them.

The singer who revealed that some female fans throw themselves at him noted that he does all within his power to restrain himself from misbehaving around them.

Kiss Daniel whom a female fan went berserk on after he invited her on stage at a recent concert in Warri told Sunday Scoop, “I am an entertainer and it is inevitable that ladies would always come around me. However, I respect my fans a lot and I don’t take advantage of them.”

He continued: “Some ladies could act funny but I handle them maturely. Many of the things you see on stage end there; they are all part of the show. Many of these fans are in love with the idea of who they think you are; they don’t know the real you.”

Kiss Daniel when asked on what his most memorable performance was said: “That would be difficult for me to say because for every gig, I bring my ‘A’ game. No two shows are the same and I always want to give my fans different things every time I step on stage.”

Ex Presidential aide Reno Omokri has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to handover power to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

He was reacting to Buhari's absence at the Federal Executive Council meeting for the third time since his return from his medical trip to the UK on Wednesday.

Officials of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps Agency (LASECORPS) have arrested six motorists at the Ikeja Along end of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway for allegedly buying goods in the traffic.



The offenders’ vehicles, a Honda Accent, Hiace, Toyota Hilux, Toyota Sienna, taxi cab and commercial bus, were also impounded by the agency.

Punch reports that four passengers and nine hawkers were also apprehended during the operation, which was carried out on Thursday.

They were accused of breaching the environmental law and brought before a magistrate, Mr. Olayiwola Ogundare of the Ogba Magistrate’s Court, who sentenced them to three months’ imprisonment each.

Ogundare, however, gave the accused an option of N10, 000 fine each, adding that each of the motorists should pay additional N20,000 fine into the state coffers.

The Head of Public Affairs Unit for LASECORPS, Rahmat Alabi, said the arrest was in line with the Environmental Sanitation Law, 2015.

She said the Corps Marshal of the agency, CSP Bola Jimoh (retd.), stated that LASECORPS was determined to fight the menace of highway hawking.

“The corps marshal believes that the enforcement of the Environmental Sanitation Law, 2015 that makes both buyers and sellers liable, will send the expected signal and halt the prevalence of the illegal highway hawking and street trading in the metropolis. If there are no buyers, there will be no sellers,” she said.

The Federal Government has decribed as false the information being circulated on Social Media that a Ministry of Interior Regulation has been created to monitor and record all phone calls and Social Media posts made by Nigerians.



In a statement released in Abuja today, Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, described the story as another example of disinformation that has permeated the media space, especially the Social Media.

The Minister said the intention of those behind the false news is to give the impression that the Federal Government is working to stifle freedom of speech, which is not the case.

''There is no regulation, old or new, from the Ministry of Interior or any federal government agency requiring the recording of all calls or the monitoring of Social Media platforms like WhatsApp, Twitter or Facebook. We are therefore using this medium to inform all Nigerians that what is being circulated in this regard is totally false and should be disregarded.

‘'We thank all Nigerians who have reached out to us in an effort to confirm the authenticity or otherwise of this information, which is now being widely circulated on the Social Media. This is the best way to ensure that the purveyors of false news do not dominate our media space'' he said.

The Lagos State Government on Sunday justified the demolition of properties in Otodo Gbame and subsequent attack on the settlers by security operatives.


In a statement via its Twitter account, @LAGOSGMT1, the Lagos State government said, “The demolition of #OtodoGbame was carried out as a security measure in the overall interest of all Lagosians.

“Intelligence report has revealed that militants are using the illegal #OtodoGbame settlement as a base.

“Credible intelligence gathering shows that militants are living amongst the people in #OtodoGbame and are perfecting plans to attack Lekki and VI.

“LASG places a high premium on security and will not abdicate in its duty to protect the lives and property of all residents. #OtodoGbame.

Olaitan Shofolahan, 37, a man arrested by the operatives of Rapid Response Squad of the Lagos State Police Command for impersonating officials of the Lagos State Land Use Charge has blamed unemployment as the cause of his action.

Shofolahan, an Accounting graduate of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, Ogun State, was arrested on Thursday in Lekki Phase 1, in Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos. He was arrested while attempting to defraud a resident of the posh estate of several millions Land Use Charge dues.

The suspect, who was working in his brother’s audit firm in Sabo, Yaba area of Lagos, before abandoning the job in search of better offer. He stated that his moves to join the Lagos State Public Service were frustrated by lack of vacancy.

According to the suspect, “I was working with my brother in his audit firm in Sabo, Yaba, earning N45,000 monthly salary before I left the firm in search of employment…. I was at Lagos State Civil Service Commission several times to seek employment. It was during one of my visits that I learnt that payment for Land Use Charge in the state is through a code. The code is engraved on every metal sticker issued to every house.”

“It is with this code that you get an annual bill of the house and that you can get your charges printed out for you free with the bills. That was how I started moving round choice location to get their code and print their bills…. Any house that does not owe, I discard but those with huge bills, I work on them. But I noticed that some of them requested for my id–card. I forged a Lagos State Government identity card using a sample that I saw somewhere in Alausa Secretariat, Ikeja,” he stated.

He added, “I have being in the business since February, 2015. I have observed that owners of buildings in Lekki have capacity to settle their bills quickly, that was why I have focused there. Unfortunately for me, it was this location that I was caught…. I entered the building in Lekki Phase 1, unknown to me that the officials of the Lagos State Land Use Charge were there with the house owner. I saw the owner discussing with them but I didn’t know their identity. The owner of the building after sitting me down, invited RRS officials to arrest me.”

Shofolahan explained further; “since I have been impersonating, I have only realised N30,000 which I collected from an home owner in Alausa while pretending to be an official of the State. I have not collected any other money apart from that. Each and every time I visited these buildings, they ask me to come back later”.

Found with the suspect after his arrest were five land use bills with varied charges above N1 million and a forged identity card of The Lagos State Government.

Confirming the incident, the Police PPRO, ASP Olarinde Famous Cole, said that there would be no hiding place for criminals in Lagos State adding that officers of the command are at alert to nip crime in the bud.

The suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, for further investigations.

The United States department has ranked Nigeria as the fifth most dangerous place for Americans to visit.

The ranking comes as part of the State Department’s latest issue of advisories to keep Americans who travel abroad safe.



The rankings take into consideration what potential threats Americans may be faced with in countries they are visiting .



With data sourced from warnings and actual deaths recorded for Americans in other countries, Business Insider reported that “data from Priceonomics customer data.world, a platform that ties many different data sets together so it’s easy to analyze them” was used in analysing the rankings.

Wife of Zaria man, Muhammad Sirajo Musa, who got a penis transplant in Egypt, welcomed a baby girl a week ago, Daily Trust reports.

During the Eid-el-Fitr of 2009, Musa on his way to the prayer ground was involved in an accident in which his penis was severed.

He was first treated at the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH), Zaria before he was referred to an Egyptian hospital where a new penis was developed for him.


At the first surgery, the Egyptian doctors moulded the manhood by extracting muscles from Musa’s thigh and arm.


The manhood was planted beneath the position of the severed penis and was nursed for nine months before it was removed and planted in the original position.

Many residents of Zaria and other Nigerians doubted the possibility of Musa’s coming back to his normal sexual life with artificial manhood, but that doubt was cleared last week when Salamatu Maharazu, Musa’s wife, gave birth to a bouncing baby girl.

The excitement on Musa’s face was infectious when Daily Trust correspondent visited him at his family house in Anguwan Tukurwa inside the ancient walls of Zaria. He said:

"I give Allah all the glory. He was the one that saw me through the trauma of losing my manhood. As you can see, here is my 8-day-old baby. I have to also express my appreciation to the emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Shehu Idris, because he was the one that sponsored my treatment. I also wish to thank Alhaji Isiyaka who also contributed greatly to my treatment. I named my daughter Amatul-azeez."


Malama Salamatu said patience and believe in the powers of Allah were the factors that kept the family together during their trying time.

"I am happy to say that my husband is back to life and this baby is the testimony. Praise is due to Allah." she added

A female fraudster was on Monday, March 20, 2017, convicted and sentenced to 14 years imprisonment at the State High Court sitting in Mararaba, Nasarawa State. Hanna Abraham was sentenced on a 3-count charge of obtaining by false pretence and issuance of a dud cheque to the sum of N7million preferred against her by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.


According to reports, the convict was said to have, under false pretence, obtained the said sum as a loan to supply 22 trucks of diesel to News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, and diverted it to other purposes other than what it was meant for. The offence contravenes Section 1 (1) a, Section 1 (b) (i) and Section 1 (b) (i) of the Advance Fee Fraud Act, 2006 and Dishonoured Cheque Offences. Despite pleading not guilty to the counts when she was arraigned. Justice Aboki found Abraham guilty on all three counts.

Delivering the judgment, he sentenced her to 10years imprisonment on count one and two years each on counts two and three without an option of fine. While the sentence is to run concurrently, the convict is to refund all the money she collected from the complainant.

Pastor Olugbenga Oladejo of the Complete In Christ Church, UK, has advised married people against several sex positions.

In a video posted online, Oladejo said, “The Lord has made the man the head, not the woman.

“So, those men who enjoy their wives coming on top of them on their matrimonial bed, the Lord says they are not coming to heaven at all!

“Because they practise immorality on their bed. They change the ordinances of God on their bed. The Lord said He made man the head, and so shall it be. You cannot change that ordinance.”

The Tenancy Bill is to Establish a Relationship between the Landlord and the Tenant.



This Tenancy Bill shall apply to all Premises within the FCT including business and residential premises unless otherwise specified.



The resolution reads as follow:



It shall be unlawful for a landlord or his agent to demand from a sitting tenant rent in advance of six months from a monthly tenant and one year from a yearly tenant in respect of any premises without prejudice.

It shall not be unlawful for a sitting tenant to offer or pay rent in excess of a year for a yearly tenant and 6months for a monthly tenant.



It shall be unlawful for a landlord or his agent to demand from a new or would be tenant rent in excess of a year in respect of any premises; It shall not be unlawful for a new or would be tenant to offer or pay rent in excess of a year in respect of any premises.



Any person who demands rent in access of what is prescribed in this Section shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine of #100,000 or to three months imprisonment.

Mild drama on Wednesday at the federal Executive Council Meeting ask President Muhammadu Buhari asked the whereabouts of the Minister of Information an Culture, Alhaji lai Mohammed.

The president called on the Ministers of Transportation and Information, Rotimi Amechi and respectively, said the opening prayers

The drama ensued before asking the information minister to say the prayer when Mr. Buhari said: "I haven't seen Lai".

The minister responded: "I am here sir."



This is the first council meeting Buhari is presiding over since he returned to the country last Friday from his medical vacation in the United Kingdom.

The last FEC meeting President Buhari presided over was on January 11 before he departed for London on January 19.

The Minister of Budget and Planning, Udoma Udo Udoma, on Wednesday announced that things are being put in place to ensure that the country is out of recession by the end of the year.

Speaking after the FEC meeting in Abuja, he said:

“Yes, we are determined to get the economy out of the recession before the end of this year. And the 2017 budget is structured to do just that.

“So that is why we are anxious to get the budget passed so that we can begin the implementation and begin to take all the steps we need to get the economy out of recession.”

“With regards to the NBS report, as you are aware, the fourth quarter of the economy contracted by 1.3 per cent, which is lower level of contraction than the previous year and which indicates that we are already turning and we are beginning to recover even though we are still in recession.

“And the overall result was better than what many people projected. The IMF report had thought the GDP for 2016 was going to be -1.8 per cent and it turned out -1.5, so that’s better than expected but we are not out of the woods.

“It is encouraging but we have to do and continue to do more to make sure that we get the economy out of the recession this year.

Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Diaspora Affairs, has explained why the President is yet to comment on the recent xenophobia attack against Nigerians residing in South Africa.


Speaking during an interview with Osasu Igbinedion of TOS TV Network, Dabiri-Erewa said, “Mr. President did not speak on the recent xenophobia attack because the presidency is working even in his absence.
