Boko Haram insurgents, who pledged allegiance to the Islamic State, have reportedly claimed responsibility for the multiple suicide bomb blasts that happened in Abuja last weekend.

18 people were killed and scores left wounded. The terrorist group released a statement on Twitter on Sunday along with three photos of suicide attackers involved in Friday’s deadly blasts.

The first two attacks happened in Kuje township, where a suicide bomber attacked a police station while another bomb was detonated at a nearby market. The third device exploded in Nyanya at a bus stop. See the pics upclose after the cut.

The City of David Parish of The Redeemed Christian Church of God under its Healing Stripes Hospital commissioned its expanded dialysis centre and a brand new dental unit. It also re-launched its popular charity shop, It’s New to Me.

The dialysis centre and dental unit were commissioned by Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, Executive Governor of Lagos State, represented by Dr. Jemilade Adegoriola Longe, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health.

The Healing Stripes Hospital is a specialised health care facility where quality healthcare services are provided at subsidized rates. The Hospital was established in May 2010 as part of its Christian Social Reform. The hospital has attended to over 13, 000 patients 5, 482 patients have received care free of charge through the church welfare programme. The goal is to ensure that quality healthcare is accessible, affordable and reliable to the community.


The dialysis centre, which added 10 more machines to its operations, was opened in September 2013 to serve the needs of patients with kidney disease. Statistics show that 30 million Nigerians are suffering from kidney disease. However, only 200 machines are available to serve them, far below the requirement of 12,000 machines. The expansion of the dialysis centre makes a contribution of filling the gap.

To date, the dialysis centre has conducted 2,092 subsidized dialysis sessions and 102 free sessions. Partnering with some hospitals in India, the centre has also successfully conducted 5 kidney transplants.

The Healing Stripes Cancer Screening Centre Surulere, an offshoot of The Healing Stripes Hospital was established in June 2011 as the first faith based Cancer Screening Centre for free screening and awareness. The Centre has done free cancer screening and therapy for more than 17, 542 people in Lagos State.

“The dedication of the dialysis centre is made possible from the donation and goodwill of our partners,” said Dr. Ezinne, Chief Medical Director of The Healing Stripes Hospital. “We are delighted to commission the centre today and further impact the society through our CSRs.”

In another dimension of its Christian Social Reform, the church also reopened its Charity shop named It’s New to Me. It was initially launched on June 11, 2009 and is located at House 3, Prince Alaba Oniru Estate Victoria Island opposite Four Points Hotel. The Charity shop was relaunched by Pastor Idowu Iluyomade, the Pastor in Charge of City of David.

It’s New to Me is focused on the sales of new and high quality used clothing, household items, toys and furniture. These items are donated to the shop for sale at rock- bottom prices. Consequently, it makes available high quality items at ridiculously low prices to those who may not ordinarily be able to afford them.

The event also saw Governor Ambode commission the Arise Women’s free clinic. This initiative was established as an NGO under the leadership of Pastor Siju Iluyomade and in conjunction with The Healing Stripes Hospital. The clinic has reached out to over 26, 000 individuals in various communities through free medical care.

To conclude the event, donation of medical equipment and consumables were made to The Healing Stripes Cancer Screening Centre and National Orthopaedic Hospital Igbobi.

A suspected thief was burnt alive by an angry mob in Port Harcourt.

In the graphic video, the young man was beaten beyond repair before being set ablaze, He could be heard screaming the name of Jesus several times and begging for his life to be spared but the crowd will have none of that as they made sure he was set on fire.


It was gathered by the person who posted the video that the man was a member of a robbery gang that attacked the community but was the unlucky one to be nabbed while the others managed to escape.

Instead of handing him over to the police, the mob took the laws into their hands and meted out instant jungle justice on him.

A petrol-laden truck fell and crushed a commercial bus called 'Korope' at Asubiaro area, Osogbo. It happened close to a church. The tanker spilled its contents but thankfully no life was lost. As at 3:30 - 4:Pm, Police and Civil Defence were able to seal up the area, as the contents of the tank which was still spilling unto the ground was being transferred in black water tanks. The road in which this accident occurred is so bad and rapidly deteriorating. Please fix our roads!

Lagos is Nigeria's commercial capital and for a lot of reasons, that makes people assume that there are a tonne of millionaires roaming around there.


Well, according to a new report by AfrAsia Bank and global wealth intelligence and market research company, New World Wealth, that may not be the case as the number of dollar millionaires in Lagos may not be what you're expecting.

The study defines millionaires as people with net assets worth at least $1m (£650,000) and according to the report, there are only 9,100 millionaires in Lagos.


Lagos is ranked third on the list of African cities with the highest dollar millionaires and falls behind Johannesburg, which has 23,400 millionaires, and Egypt's Cairo which has 10,200.


The report also estimates that Africa is home to about only 163,000 millionaires, who have a combined wealth of $670bn (£440bn).


According to the 2014 New World Wealth Report, the number of dollar millionaires in Nigeria is expected to jump to 23,000 by 2017, after increasing by 44 percent over the past six years to 15,700 in 2013.

“While growing up, there were some goals I set for myself and at 35; I have accomplished most of them. Sadly, I have not accomplished the primary goals. The main one is marriage.

“Apart from marriage, one other thing I desire to have is the Grammy but that is already in the pipeline and it would be acquired soon. I didn’t know I would meet Kanye West while I was dreaming big as a child. But I dreamt that I would go places and people would hear my song all over the world. I also dreamt that Caucasians would dance to my music. I dreamt I would top music charts across the world and all that has happened. I have dreamt of performing in front of thousands of people on a global stage and I have achieved that. For all these I am grateful to God,”

Veteran Yoruba comic actor, Babatunde Omidina, popularly known as Baba Suwe, who lost his wife about six years ago, told Saturday Beats that he currently has some women in mind for marriage.

When probed further about when he intends to tie the knots and the identity of the lady he likes the most among all the women he is eyeing, the ace actor said no one should snoop into his private life.

The Oyo State Government has cancelled the 2015 annual sponsorship of Muslims to the holy lands of Mecca and Medina in Saudi Arabia, we have been told.

This came barely 24 hours after the government of Abiola Ajimobi announced the stoppage of payment of fees for West African Examinations Council (WAEC) students across the state public secondary schools. The government also re-introduced school fees in all secondary schools in the state.

‎Alhaji Abdulkarim Adeleke, the Oyo State Pilgrims Welfare Board (Muslim wing) Secretary, said on Thursday the government was not sponsoring any pilgrim for the 2015 Hajj.

Adeleke told reporters in Ibadan that the state government cancelled the sponsorship of pilgrims to the 2015 Hajj due to economic difficulties.

A married mother of four, Hadijat Adegoke has died from injuries inflicted on her by a jealous lover of hers,who doused her house in petrol and set it on fire, while she slept with another lover named, Munirudeen Lawal .


The 35-year old, Adegoke was said to have recently moved into her own house,built by one of her bricklayer lover, with contributions from other lovers. Infact, she abandoned her husband in a rented apartment to move into the said house so she can freely have sex with her young bloods.

The jealous lover had sneaked into the vicinity, only to find out Adegoke was having sex with Lawal. He got a jerrycan of fuel and while loitering within the area was even seen by Adegoke's 12-year old, Ishwat who came outside to urinate. she thought that he came to have sex with their mum like before and didnt worry about his loitering in the middle of the night. She urinated and couldnt sleep anymore. at the end, she was the only one who escaped with no scar. it has been alleged that she actually was also sleeping with the arsonist.

Hadijat and Lawal were alleged to have died at the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, where they were rushed to while the three kids are said to be responding to treatment at the Muslim Hospital, Ede, where doctors were said to be battling to safe their lives.

Lawal died on Tuesday while Hadijat Adegoke died on Wednesday and thus ends the tragic story of love gone sour.
