Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki got a standing ovation today from all members of the House of Representatives when he appeared in the Green Chambers of the National Assembly to give a speech as Special Guest of Honour at the inauguration of the Standing Committees of the House.

James Faleke, vying to be a governor in Kogi state under the APC had to scale the palace fence of the Ohimege of Koto and ride on an okada in order to escape from the campaign rally where another governorship aspirant Prince Abubakar Audu was stoned.

The APC campaign train had made a stopover at Koton Karfe in continuation of its rally. The rally later turned rowdy, with several stones and pure water thrown at the APC candidate and his running mate with shouts of Ole, barawo, return our stolen N11 billion.

Reports say trouble started for the APC candidate after people were kept waiting till 5pm in the evening.

On his arrival however, the governorship candidate failed to pay the royal father the usual traditional homage, right at the campaign venue, which was at the front of the palace.

The APC candidate who had to take to his heels, had his white flowing big gown (baba riga) torn and had to be smuggled into his car.

Minister-designate and outgoing Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI), Zainab Ahmed, officially handed over the affairs of the agency to the Director of Communications of the agency, Ogbannaya Orji at a brief ceremony which held in Abuja yesterday November 3rd. Zainab was screened and confirmed by the senate last week.

This one happened early this morning around past 6am. Three guys attacked the owner of this car as she descended the bridge to enter Victoria Island (Muson Centre area) on her way to work. They broke the driver and passenger's side glasses, took her phone and her chain. Luckily for her she said she kept her bag in the booth because of similar stories she'd read online.

Top Nigerian songstress Seyi Shay has released glamorous new photos in a photo editorial called “The Corruption of Eve”. This photo editorial is directed by fast rising photographer Remi Adetiba and was shot at the Lekki conservation Centre, Lagos.

This photo editorial was recently showcased at the 2015 edition of the Lagos Photo Festival among a select iconic photographs that are of symbolic stature in Nigerian music. The Corruption of Eve reconstructs the story of the fall of man in a more modern light with Seyi Shay staring as the first woman “Eve”. There are four major scenes in this photo editorial; the first depicts Adam and Eve in the innocence of their unclothedness. Seyi Shay is dressed in a flowy, ethereal gown, whose nude tone closely matches her skin colour to give a less obvious interpretation of Eve’s nudity.

In the second scene we witness the dramatic emergence of the serpent, played by a striking male model in a full snakeskin suit, seducing Eve and tempting her with the forbidden fruit.The Final Scenes depict our Eve fleeing the garden after succumbing to the serpent’s proposal. Her innocence is lost and she can no longer remain in its purity. She is dressed in gorgeous, dramatically movement-friendly garments with leaf prints/appliques signifying her covering her unclothedness. The photo editorial ends with Eve, having fully accepted her fall from grace; she is seen in a luxury car (ostensibly in the present day), wearing a sexy snake-print dress. She and her corrupter are now one.

Samia Suluhu Hassan, 55, was announced Vice President of Tanzania in the 2015 General Elections, alongside Tanzania's ruling party candidate John Magufuli. Suluhu is married to Hafidh Ameir and they have four children. The National Electoral Commission announced on Thursday, October 29, that Magufuli won the presidential election after the opposition challenged the tallying process and demanded a recount.

Njideka Akunyili Crosby is the 2015 winner of the tenth annual Joyce Alexander Wein Artist Prize. The Studio Museum in Harlem made the announcement on Monday, October 26, revealing that it was bestowing its Wein Prize – a $50,000 award won in the past by esteemed artists like Lorna Simpson, Glenn Ligon and Trenton Doyle Hancock – to the Nigerian-born painter who has lived and worked in the United States for many years.

According to Randy Kennedy in the New York Times, the prize – established by George Wein, a founder of the Newport Jazz Festival, in honor of his wife, Joyce Alexander Wein, a trustee of the museum who died in 2005 – has been given every year since 2006 to established or emerging African-American artists.

Ms. Crosby, 32, who recently moved to Los Angeles, has become known for large-scale paintings that depict African and American domestic scenes. The scenes are visually complicated with collage elements drawn from Nigerian lifestyle magazines, her own photo albums and the Internet, works that, as Smithsonian Magazine wrote,
"explore a complex topic – the tug she feels between her adopted home in America and her native country."

Ms. Crosby’s work has recently been featured in a solo show at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles and was included in the New Museum’s 2015 Triennial. The prestigious Victoria Miro gallery in London began to represent Ms. Crosby earlier this year, and her work is now the subject of anexhibition at the gallery, organized by the critic Hilton Als.

Thelma Golden, the Studio Museum’s director, said Ms. Crosby was chosen because of her work’s “great innovation and promise” and also because she “truly represents the global nature of the Studio Museum’s mission and reach.”

Following the judgment of the Rivers State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal that nullified the election of Governor Wike of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), revelations have surfaced about a grand plot to build Nigeria’s biggest mosque in State’s capital city of Port Harcourt.

According to sources, the plan, which dates back to 2012, is to repossess a large portion of old Port Harcourt Township from the popular Aggrey Road, through Victoria to Bonny Streets and unto Creek Road and convert it to a new development to be called Great Dawatul City.




The developers of the project, which will have Nigeria’s largest Mosque, 6,000 units of 3 and 5 bedroom residential duplexes and world class business arcades as its star attractions intend to use it as a global model to showcase and redefine Islam as a progressive religion in cosmopolitan cities around the world.


Funding for the project it was said, had been secured by a billionaire mogul and industrialist who himself had negotiated some years ago to purchase the entire shoreline from the Creek Road axis which he has earmarked for world class luxury apartments and Africa’s first 7 Star hotel.

Possession of the shoreline was hindered by the Goodluck Jonathan administration’s refusal to give its nod following agitations by local inhabitants of the area claiming forced eviction. The new plan, it is reliably gathered has got the nod of the Presidency and will have residents and property owners handsomely compensated in return for their lands.

A former governor of the State who is already in talks with the promoters of the Estate development assured them of cooperation on the condition that allegations of corruption against him are ignored and the current Governor Nyesom Wike is removed from office to facilitate the smooth implementation of the project.

The developers plan to market the project as an open society which would provide jobs for the teeming unemployed and change the skyline and landscape of the Garden City.

The area earmarked for the multi billion dollar project already has the highest concentration of Northerners in the city and is expected to see an increase especially of elite class after its completion in 2023.

A former Adamawa State Commissioner for Finance and Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, John Elias, was yesterday October 22nd arraigned before Justice B.B Aliyu of Federal High Court Yola, Adamawa State over a N20 million fraud. A statement from EFCC states that Elias allegedly sold and appropriated some properties, which are under interim forfeiture to the Federal Government.

An evaluation exercise conducted by the EFCC on the forfeited properties revealed that Elias sold a landed property situated at Galadima Aminu Way, Yola to one Hamid Yusuf for N20,000,000.00( Twenty Million Naira) through his agent, Jibril Mairiga. He also allegedly gave another property on Atiku Abubakar Way, Yola, Adamawa State,to his brother, Dr. Joel Yohanna, for use as a private hospital.

The former Commissioner is also alleged to have coerced the tenants in another property to be paying their rents to Al-Akim Investment Limited without authorization by the EFCC.

One of the charges reads: “That you, Al-kim Investment Nigeria Limited and John Babani Elias (M), sometimes in February, 2011 at Jimeta-Yola, Adamawa State within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court and without due authorization by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission dealt with, having put tenants and collecting rents in and over the property known as four unit houses behind First Bank of Nigeria Plc. Jimeta, Yola and which property is a subject of an interim order of forfeiture issued on the 13th day of December, 2005 by the Federal High Court, Lagos in charge No. FHC/L/CS/1258/2005, contrary to and punishable under section 32(1) of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (Establishment) Act 2004”.

He pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to him. The presiding judge, Justice Aliyu granted Elias bail in the sum of N5million with a surety in like sum and fixed December 15, 2015 for trial.

As part of his 40th birthday celebration, legendary Nigerian singer 2Face Idibia was planning on releasing a book. A biography titled 'A Very Good Bad Guy'.



The book which was published by NET NG was initially set to hit the shelves on September 18th but has been postponed till the 20th of October 2015.



'A Very Good Bad Guy' was edited by Ayeni Adekunle Samuel, publisher of NET NG.



The launch of the book will be held at Terra Kulture to be hosted by comedians Tee A and Ali Baba, the celebrations will include a concert, a flag off party at Club Rumours, and more.


The celebration concert, which he has themed the ‘FORTYfied All-Star Tribute Concert’, is the subject of huge planning and promotion.

Patience Jonathan at the Port Harcourt residence of late Diepreye Alamieyeseigha said :

Former Lagos state Governor, Babatunde Fashola appeared before the senate this morning for screening.

Rotimi Amaechi: Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi was born May 27th, 1965 at Umuordu - Ubima, IkwerreLG of Rivers State. ‎Amaechi‬ attended St. Theresa's Primary School, Ubima & later Govt Secondary School,Okolobiri for his WASC in 1982. Amaechi studied at the University of Port Harcourt where he bagged a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English. Amaechi also got a Masters in English Literature from the same University of Port Harcourt.

Amaechi exhibited leadership potentials & was elected National President of the National Union of Rivers State Students. It was at the University that young Chibuike Amaechi got exposed to practical politics, though at a learning stage. Upon graduation, Amaechi served as the PRO of Pamo Clinics & Hospital, Port Harcourt where he met Dr. Peter Odili. Amaechi's sojourn in politics started when he joined the National Republican Convention, the NRC. Amaechi's political efforts paid off when he was appointed SA to Rivers Governor, Chief Rufus Ada-George in 1992. He was also Personal Assistant to Deputy Governor of River State, Sir Dr. Peter Odili.
