Lagos will not come close to Akwa Ibom and other Niger Delta state if we practice fiscal federalism.Lagos wasn't made by Lagosians alone but by Nigeria and Nigerians

If we practice fiscal federalism, do you know how much Lagos would be making from Port, Custom, VAT, other taxes and duties, etc?

It is difficult to think any state can easily surpass Lagos which is the 5th largest Economy in Africa. Just behind Nigeria, South Africa, Egypt and Algeria.

It is possible but sounds too ambitious.

In 5 years time anambra will dwarf lagos in all levels of development
It is inevitable whether you like it or not

My brother, please stop saying what can never happen.

The problem is, many of you use emotion to decide or determine what you say.

How can Anambra that is a drop in an ocean surpass Lagos?

Almost half of Nigeria's economy is run in Lagos. From the banking to Maritime, from trading to manufacturing, from insurance to entertainment, etc. How can Anambra that does not even have N2b IGR in a month compare to a state that makes N30b a month?

That is called wishful thinking or day-dream

The foreign investments coming into anambra state are in billions of dollars not naira
Gov obiano has attracted a foreign investment of over 4 billion dollars leading to an industrial explosion in my own words
More foreign investors are coming
When these industries and other commercial ventures come on stream more investors will come
The industries you see in Lagos and other parts of the country will either relocate to anambra or open another plant in anambra
Are you aware that anambra entered into an mou to build three three independent power plants
Can you imagine the massive growth anambra will record once the ipps become operational

Lol. Those 'investments' are all in the form of MOUs guy, nothing concrete on ground yet. Osun's Aregbesola signed more MOUs running into billions of dollars than Obiano can ever dream of but only a handful of them ever even kicked off -- most them won't see the light of day under Willie Obiano's tenure #Fact. Until those MOUs translate into real projects, Obiano is just doing what most other governors have been doing since imo river -- signing MOUs to make it look as if he's 'working'. cheesy cheesy

Probably another state with the population of Lagos and which is closer to the sea and preferably with a port. Ogun may be that state, Other key players are Anambra and Cross river. With great planning and policy Kaduna or even Borno are also key players. Especially if mining and oil drilling kick off fully.

Vision can do it. Even Lagos has not articulated vision. It is just a product of accidental fortune. Nigeria as a whole lack vision for development.

If I may ask, what is Lagos vision for the next 10 year with realistic goals.

Really?.....let me help u, the mega city idea was accidental to u. Or LASG woke up suddenly and started laying rail track or the BRT was a stumbled vision. When u see tinubu fashola Ambode alongside alhaji Lateef jakande of different eras, launching project together. What is that, stumbled across vision to u? U need hot slap.

Lagos has the development because it was a capital city .

But to answer your question, I see Akwa ibom and Cross River in the not-too-distant future!

none of you will ever beat lagos..

you are too tribalistic and this religion blalas..

lagos dont have all this problem...

you are even a danger to lagos...

I get your point, but do you know that in 1990 Dubai was not even close to a town, talkless of city... Now between 1996 - 2016, Dubai is the number one destination when it comes to Tourism, fashion etc.... In fact they even grow apple and export to countries around that region... Dubai can now compare with Cities like Paris, Milan, New York, London, Beigin, Tokyo, Sydney etc..So my dear, any state can beat Lagos if only they have visionary leaders which we know we lack.

None.

With or without oil money, Lagos will continue to be a pacesetter among Nigerian states.

Asides having well-intentioned and knowledgeable people at the helm of her affairs, Lagos is strategically located. This means that she will continue to be a reference place for most, a land of opportunity.

Besides, government doesn't build self-sustaining cities; individuals do. The presence of moneybags and businesses means that Lagos will continually dwarf the rest. Because they are always outdoing each other when it comes to building the biggest and finest edifice in town, the biggest and finest estates, businesses keep growing, the working class keeps growing, and people keep on trooping in from other states.

For Lagos, it can only get better. Other states can only benefit from her spillover effect.

Lagos was fortunate to be One time capital of Nigeria.
With its location, its population mainly non indigenes.

Lagos is a no mans land. Its wealth is mainly from its commercial activities(thanks to non indigenes) and taxes.

Lagos state gat no natural resource.

You can't compare Lagos with other states which are just developing

If Anambra government can make the state attractive and welcoming to university graduates in terms of making policies that will encourage investors to build companies and therefore employ people, Anambrarians, most especially the graduates would stay more at home and will top Lagos in just a matter of years. lagos isn't that much ahead of Anambra.

sometimes I wonder why you guys reason with your Anus, who made Lagos is it not Nigeria Almost all the companies in Nigeria have their headquarters situated in Lagos so why won't Lagos generate as much revenue it is. The question your likes should ask yourself is where are all the money generated from Lagos channeled to, what's to show for it? Most inner roads in Lagos are bad, no electricity especially in the mainland, no decent cost of living and etc.. Address this issues first before criticizing successful people

Akwa ibom
and Cross Rivers too, Sorore. Just imagine if Akpabio had made self sacrifice to the end by helping himself to a lil of the bread n leaving d rest for his initiated projects?
Even now the state renewal plan is awesome. Last Dec when I visited Uyo at night , I fell in love instantly. It was at Waniba at a politician aunt's place that I saw the masterplan of the different wonderful jobs going on then in Akwa Ibom.
Donald Duke should be Nigerian's president but was unlucky to have been in the same party with visionless politicians who had sabotaged some of his far reaching dev projects like the Free trade zone. But if the two coastal states can be lucky to have decent leadership for just a decade more, they can begin to try to compare with Lagos. Peace profound and seasons greetings .

Projects like Eko Atlantic, Lekki free trade zone, Badagry port, 4th mainland bridge, Lekki sea. Port and the light rain project from Badagry to the Island should give you a clear picture of the future of the state.

Any where FG put money like Lagos state will compete with it. The cost of third mainland bridge alone is more than
every penny the FG has invested in Ekiti, Osun, Ebonyi and Imo put together.

FG built 2 airports, 3 seaports, Ikoyi, Ikeja GRA, Victoria Island, flyovers, schools, hospitals, all embassies, many estates, stadiums, all govt agency HQs, all ministry HQs, thousands of kilometers of roads, hotels, national theater etc. Any state with a quarter of such investment will compete easily with lagos.
