I have personally heard two Hausa men discussing that they love the quiet life they are living in the south east compared with everyday fight in the north. On another occasion one approached me and said he wants a gateman job I told him that he already has cows then he said Oga no be my own o I am tired of walking around for another man cows. In this life PEACE has no substitute. |

etrange: Luck? You sit and wait for luck?
Brother mi, I don't have to be a brick layer nor a hawker to be hard-working. The hawker's task might be hectic but does not undermine the fact that one could be hardworking without necessarily getting physically strained. We all have our highs and lows in our various works. The hawker gets to decide the days he'd want to go hawking, he could decide to stay indoors if the weather is bad, he could sleep at night without worrying about ledger not balancing or critical inventory going out of stock at work, some make more money than you and I, etc. A programmer on the hand has an extremely crazy deadline to meet up with (I personally just came back from the office), the programmer must keep studying or he's outdated, he has all his clients' system issues on his shoulders, he's an employee and must be at work regardless of the weather, he stays up at night thinking of algorithms or he's out of business, etc. I didn't bother to mention the amount of sleepless nights he had just to master the art of coding. He might be lucky to have had the chance to go to school but he still had to work hard to make somethings out of that opportunity. Or you think Davido, wizkid, Dangote, Innoson and co do/did not work hard? Again, the point here is not to compare occupations but to emphasise that hardwork is not all about getting physically strained.
You don't sit back at home and hope for luck to visit. You make yourself available so it won't pass you by. And that's by working hard and staying prepared for opportunities. That some people were born into richies doesn't mean others can't work their way in there.
Working smart is a sugar coated expression used to call our attention to the need to adopt efficient means while working hard so as to avoid unnecessary energy and time wasting. That's all about it, don't get carried away.
Hardwork pays any time, any day! Well said Nobody is lucky that's how I see life People tend to attract what is preset in their MINDS. Success happens when OPPORTUNUTY meets PREPAREDNESS. Making oneself available is where people miss out |

igbodefender: You forgot to add that the rich often make access to capital available to themselves that the poor can't access.
Let's face it. So many that are rich are not as hardworking as so many that are poor. They just have access to easy capital.
Make access to capital available to more people and watch their dreams take on wings in a journey to reality.
If we want Nigeria to be better, the rich should not be the only people getting richer. That's the unvarnished truth we sometimes ignore.
Access to capital. Very important. Passion for success and Expertise to establish and sustain success supercede access to capital I am telling you because I myself have mismanaged alot of capital in the past out of INEXPERIENCE You lack the capital because you lack the knowledge to access it and Grow it Dangote cannot lack capital why? Capital flows naturally to people who will not mismanage it |

czarina: Previous comments have said it all. You have highly marketable skills and you should utilize them. Forget those things gracing front page every time the teeming population of individuals leaving uni by the day is way beyond what these companies can absorb. Masters is good but I believe you'd have done better for yourself if you had invested the money in a business (it may take a while to comfortably pay your bills off it but if you put your heart into it, I'm certain there would have been no regrets.) All the best Invest in a SKILL not BUSINESS Nigeria has no business environment for now We have a SKILLS environment Your Capital goes down in a business today save FOOD |
