TOPIC: *LESSONS FROM RUTH*
*Ruth 1:16-17, Ruth 2:23*

Ruth, though a single woman and widow, took just one decision on who she would follow. In different places in the Bible, men have been called to answer this question: *Who is on the Lord’s side? (Exo. 32:26) *Who are you following? Whose counsels determine the decisions you make? That you attend the meetings of a man of God does not mean you’re following him; whosoever’s counsels give birth to your decisions determines who you are following*.

*Ruth followed the right person who became her destiny linkage*. If she had followed Orpah, she would have gone back to her father’s idols, curses and ancestral flows and nobody would have known her. She would have missed the great destiny that God had for her and a place of honour that God had created for her among the lineage of the Messiah, and we would not have known it because it would not have happened.

If you will fulfil such a peculiar and uncommon destiny as a woman, you must do these two things that Ruth did:

a. *She did uncommon followership:* She followed the right person. Some ladies follow friends and family members into failure, disaster and oblivion until they are out of God’s programme for their lives.

b. *She picked up assignment*: There was no way Boaz would have seen her if she stayed at home. Boaz didn’t marry her based on the recommendation of people because by the time he got to the field and saw her gleaning, he got attracted.

PRAYER:
Lord, I pray for an anointing for unfeigned followership with the right personalities on my road and divine leading to the assignments of my destiny in Jesus’ name. Amen!

*TOPIC: LAWS OF MARRIAGE #1: PURPOSE*
*Genesis 2:7-9; 15-18*

*The first law that God wants us to understand as far as marriage is concerned is the Law of Purpose*. The law of purpose relates to the reason God created and established marriage. Most people violate this fundamental law so much that when you go to some wedding services, when the priest is reading the charge, he usually says something like “Marriage was ordained first for pro-creation…” This is clearly not in the bible! God shows us this is Genesis 2. Marriage was not primarily ordained for pro-creation. Lack of understanding this truth is the reason a lot of men fight their wives for not having a child.

The mystery of marriage is that everybody wants to get into it. Even little children play daddy and mummy but they don’t really know why marriage exists. *If your marriage is not going fine, you should check which law you are violating. There is the law of purpose. *The day you understand why you are on the earth and the assignment God has allocated to you is the day you actually qualify to start seeking for a wife. Sadly, some people start seeking for a wife when they start having sexual pressure. No!* That’s not the time for you to get a wife. This is why some men who have not discovered their purpose on the earth get married and all they do is have sex with their wives and waste them away with no direction or purpose for the family.

*God’s first purpose for marriage was to take man to his peak of performance, beauty and fulfilment of divine purpose*. Marriage is not to give you your purpose; it is not after you get married that you now find out what you are on the earth to do. *Instead, you should only look for a partner after you have discovered why you are on the earth.*

PRAYER:
Dear Lord, help me to discover the purpose for which you’ve placed me and my spouse here on earth. Amen.

TOPIC: LAWS OF MARRIAGE #1: PURPOSE (2)
Genesis 2:7-9; 15-18

Don’t abuse your marriage! Marriage was not made for sex. Sex is only a benefit of marriage, not its sole purpose. Imagine for a minute what would happen if one of the partners in a marriage had something happen to him or her that makes it impossible to have sex anymore. Should they get divorced? Until you demystify sex, you will keep getting into trouble on the basis of sex. Some people say, “Well, the reason for marriage is to have children,” and they go on to have fifteen children. In fact, there are some men who have 50 children; such men will usually not truly know any of those children. He travelled to different countries and so he has them all over the place. The children are the ones that are introducing themselves to their father by saying, “So and so is my mother.” What a pity!

Why did God bring a man and his wife together? Why did God plan that marriage should be monogamous? When it comes to producing children in the right marriage, God is looking for a seed. A right marriage is the closest thing to produce a saint without being born-again.

Of all the laws of marriage, I believe that the law of purpose is the most pivotal. This is because before you start praying, you need to know why you are praying; you need to be clear about what you are looking for. When I was praying for a life partner like every other young man, I wanted to have a beautiful wife but when God showed His purpose for my life, it dawned on me that I needed more than a beautiful wife to handle it.

PRAYER:
Dear Lord, help me to discover the purpose for which you’ve placed me and my spouse here on earth. Amen.

TOPIC: LAWS OF MARRIAGE #2: THE LAW OF THE TRIANGLE - Psalm 112:1-3

The law of the triangle is hinged upon the word of God in Psalms 112. The triangle is made up of the man, his wife and God at the triangle’s apex.

Psalm 112:1-3
1 Praise ye the LORD. Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD, that delighteth greatly in his commandments.
2 His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed.
3 Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever.

An average Jewish woman prays daily for her husband based on three Psalms namely: Psalms 112, 127 and 128 and if you are a married woman and you’re thinking about what to pray for your husband, take Psalms 112, 127 and 128 and start from there; insert his name in the appropriate places and pray for him accordingly. These prayers are important because no woman can flourish beyond the fertility that her husband supplies. Every wife should understand that she is a planting in her husband’s life. That’s why God spends time to work upon a man. Some marriages have troubles today because the man has not discovered his purpose on the earth, hence the woman does not know what she is to help him accomplish.

It is the man’s responsibility to sit down and share things with his wife. The problem of the human race started because of the ineffective way Adam communicated God’s instruction to Eve. We blame women for not functioning effectively when in reality; it is the man that is not effectively communicating the wife’s role to her. She is here to help you. If you go to see a doctor because you have stomach upset and you tell the doctor that you have ear pain, the doctor could prescribe ear-drops when what you need is something for stomach upset. You cannot blame the doctor for not prescribing the right medication to deal with stomach upset.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, help me to properly communicate the instructions for my family to my spouse as we both draw closer to you. Amen.

*LAWS OF MARRIAGE #4: LAW OF DIFFERENCES - Genesis 2:24*

This is a very interesting and powerful law which you must never violate. God created the two of you differently and you need to understand, respect and celebrate the differences between the two of you. Men and women are not the same. We are different in creation, in roles and in function and God wants us to celebrate our differences. For instance, men report matters, whereas women share. You will do well not to listen to what a woman is saying, rather listen to what she means. If you are listening to what a woman is saying, you may miss what she is trying to tell you. Listen to what she means.

Men reason logically while women feel and reason at the same time. I have heard it explained scientifically that as children grow and develop, the right side of the brain (which controls logic) keeps growing in boys while the left side (which controls feeling, emotions and so on) stops growing. Women are lovers, while men thrive in achievements. Love means much to a woman while achievements mean more to a man. You must understand these differences and not exploit each other with it. Violating the law of differences can lead to a divorce. A woman is not always so concerned with achievements. A woman can easily say, “My dear, I love you, we have each other, and it doesn’t matter whether your shoe has holes, whether you have a tie or not, at least we have each other, we will stay together.” A man is not satisfied with that. He wants to be sure he’s achieving something. Men are achievers while women are lovers. God made us that way.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, help me to properly respect the law of differences. Help me to appreciate my spouse for who you made him/her to be. Amen.

LAWS OF MARRIAGE #4: LAW OF DIFFERENCES (2) - Genesis 2:24

How to deal with differences between you and your spouse
1.Recognise your differences.
2.Understand your differences.
3.Accept your differences.
4.Celebrate your differences. A wise man as the leader in the home will delegate around strengths and differences.
5.Accentuate the positives in your differences.
6.It is the law of differences that produces complementation in marriage.

If you are correctly married, you will find one thing that is true: you will be strong where your wife is weak and your wife will be strong where you are weak. You will fit each other and balance each other out. You will not complement each other if all you accentuate are the negatives.

Attacking each other on the basis of your differences will not produce a complementary life. Most of the problems people face in marriage centre on these differences. Most times, we have not adequately recognised the differences in the strength of men and women nor celebrated them. We should accentuate the positives more than we currently do. If two friends relate with each other, they will be different from each other and accentuate the positives of their differences and cover the negatives. Where there’s a negative, the other person will cover it. Instead of making an issue out of the fact that your spouse is too forgetful, you can understand that about him/her and cover it with your strength.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, help me to properly respect the law of differences. Help me to appreciate my spouse for who you made them to be. Amen.

LAWS OF MARRIAGE #5: ROLES AND ASSIGNMENTS - Psalm 127: 5.

In marriage, God gave headship and leadership to the husband and gave ‘helpership’ to the wife. Problems often arise in the home when a man does not know how to lead his wife or refuses to lead her. God gave the man the assignment of leading the home and meeting the needs of his wife. To the wife, He gave the responsibilities of adapting to her husband and following his lead. Women often make a mistake here by trying to change their husbands, thereby violating the law of roles and assignments.

Women should understand that only God can change a man. What you can do is to fulfil your role and leave God to change your man, but most times when a woman marries a man, she immediately starts on an assignment of changing him. If it’s a man that takes the responsibility of changing the woman, the only thing you can do is change the person to yourself and it’s not your responsibility. You must allow your wife to be a woman and allow your husband to be a man. What we need to understand are our differences from our partner and to leverage those differences for a successful home.

If I could have my way, I want my wife to be like me, and if she has her way, she wants me to be like her. You will discover that this mutual desire, at least at the beginning of marriage, is true of couples everywhere. In fact, some husbands have succeeded in turning their wives to men and they complain when they need the unique traits that a woman brings when they don’t get it. Similarly and sadly, some women have succeeded in turning their husbands to women. When a woman raises a boy on her own, you will observe that the son is acting and relating with the world like a woman would. The woman is given the assignment of creating the atmosphere of acceptance of love, but the role of reaffirming the identity of individuals in the home is the man’s responsibility.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, help me to properly respect and enforce the different roles and assignments you’ve given to me and my spouse. Amen.

TOPIC: LAWS OF MARRIAGE #5: ROLES AND ASSIGNMENTS (2) - Psalm 127: 5

Interestingly, you find parents damaging their children unwittingly because they don’t understand the differences in their children of different sexes. For instance, a man must have a competitive spirit. It is a destruction of manhood to have a man that is unwilling to compete in life. It is unmanly and symptomatic for a man to be unwilling to fight for what belongs to him; a man must be willing to face opposition in life head-on when the occasion arises. That is a key part of what it means to be a man. It’s a woman that should adapt to her man and not the other way round. A man must be able to draw a line and say, “This is how far and no further; this work belongs to me.” Then the family lines up behind him, and he says “let’s move.”

The Bible says in Ps 127:5 “Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.” Life has destroyed that competitive edge in some men. In the past I supported Arsenal football club and everyone in the house followed me except my son. He preferred Manchester United. My wife would say, “Support daddy” but he would say “No, we will beat daddy’s team.” Even though my son looked small, I didn’t take away his independence and willingness to support another team. In fact, I enjoyed that competition because that is what he will take into life. Some Christians have been told that a competitive edge is demonic and they have settled for mediocrity and compromised with far less than what God planned for them in life.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, help me to properly respect and enforce the different roles and assignments you’ve given to me and my spouse. Amen.

TOPIC:
LAWS OF MARRIAGE #6: ADAPTABILITY
1 Peter 3: 1-7

Women, don’t try to change your husbands; instead, adapt and let God do the changing as He deems fit. Cast your worries on the Lord, don’t fall to the pressure to ‘make things happen’. If you do your own part, God will do the rest.

The law of adaptability requires a woman to adapt to her husband. Remember that the Bible says in 1 Corinthians 11: 8-9 “For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man. Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.” Therefore, it is altogether appropriate that a woman who is meant to be a man’s help meet adapt to him. If you find that you cannot adapt to a man, you shouldn’t marry him in the first place.

Let me be clear, men are not perfect and their ways and preferences are not superior compared to women. Some men for instance, have developed bad habits of watching pornography. If such a man requires his wife to watch pornography with him because she needs to adapt to him, he’s out of order. Adapting in this context does not include adapting to sin. If you and your husband are born again, you need to confront your husband when he commits sin not adapt to him in such instances, but where it is a matter of a preference, a meal or a way of doing things that doesn’t amount to sin, the Bible requires that a woman adapts to her husband. If the man needs to change, God will change him.

You as a woman should not give yourself a mission to change your husband. You won’t succeed at this and there will be no peace in your home and you don’t need unnecessary quarrels. You need to decide whether you want God’s wisdom in your marriage or whether you will use yours.

PRAYER:
Dear Lord, give me the grace to adapt to the leadership of my husband instead of trying to change him. Amen.

*TOPIC: LAWS OF MARRIAGE #7: HONOUR - Psalm 144:12*

If there’s anything that will make marriage succeed, it is honour. Connect this to the law of precedence and you will get a full understanding. The word ‘honour’ in Greek means ‘to set a value on something’ or ‘to fix a value.’ You have no right to devalue your wife. Always remember that your wife takes precedence over your sister and your mother; and let that be clear to everyone.

You cannot dishonour your wife and have God bless you, and you cannot dishonour your husband and have God bless you. The law of honour will give birth to the right use of words in your marriage. When God made the woman, He brought her to Adam to see what he would call her and he said she’s Eve, the mother of all living; she’s bone of my bone.” Absence of honour or incomplete honour is responsible for the trouble in many marriages.

Sadly, there are many homes today where the man treats his wife as though she is one of his properties in the house. There are women today that don’t even have a voice in their husband’s life. This is incorrect. Your wife must have a voice in your life. You must use words and actions to honour your wife. Likewise a woman must honour her husband and follow his leadership for a healthy and prosperous marriage.

PRAYER:Dear Lord, help me to properly honour my spouse and treat him/her in the light of the office you’ve given him/her. Amen..

TOPIC: THE INSTITUTION OF MARRIAGE - GENESIS 2:21-25, AMOS 3:3

The marriage institution is an institution established by God. However, it does not mean that there will not be conflicts in marriage. Conflicts are expected in marriage because two people are coming together with a lot of differences from each other. Those conflicts must be properly resolved for peace to reign in the family and for the marriage to be a blessing. A lot of people come into marriage with so great expectation but little preparation. People prepare well for their career, business, and so on but don’t really put much preparation into marriage.

I had six years of courtship before I got married. It was not because I was afraid of marriage, but I wanted to learn well before stepping into marriage. I functioned as the best man for practically all the minister-friends at that time to the extent that the Chaplain at the Chapel told me at a time, “Man of God, the next time you are coming bring your wife.” During these period, I was learning; I learnt from brothers who would leave their wives at home and come to meet their friends, and so on.

Also note that there is no perfect marriage anywhere because there are no perfect people on the earth. Just like you cannot have a perfect church, you cannot have a perfect marriage. The day you have a perfect church, the minute you join that church, it becomes imperfect. So, I don’t really believe you can have a perfect marriage, but you can have victorious marriages. You can continually get better and improve at your marriages every day. So, don’t think that when you marry you are going into a perfect marriage from day one; you will have an improving marriage as you begin to work at your marriage and resolve conflicts through the wisdom of God.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, I receive your wisdom to make my marriage what will bring glory to God on the earth.

TOPIC: RESOLVING CONFLICTS IN MARRIAGE
AMOS 3:3

What Is Conflict Resolution?
It is the effective management of differences to achieve the best for the union and for the future. It is the inability to manage differences effectively that leads to all forms of challenges and problems in marriage. You need to first of all embrace differences in marriage. It is the beginning of failure and troubles in marriage for couples to start comparing their spouse with another person or marriage with another marriage. Every marriage has a specific purpose to fulfil under God and couples must recognize that. We will need to work on our individual differences and peculiarities for this eternal counsel and purpose of God to be fulfilled.

Don’t look for an alternative to your spouse. Many times couples always want to find an alternative to their spouse when they are having misunderstanding at home. For a man, he just becomes a workaholic and spends more time at work, tries to hang out with a few friends, and only returns home when it is late in the night. For a woman, she simply goes into a shell and begins to pile up memories of past atrocities and issues she has had with her husband. Always resolve your conflicts and differences on time as couples. When problems are not resolved on time, it grows bigger and becomes more difficult to solve.

Conflicts are inevitable in marriage. They will always come, but you need the wisdom of the Holy Spirit to resolve conflicts when they arise in marriage. Conflicts will come because both of you are coming from two different backgrounds. You haven’t known your spouse well until you know the lines you shouldn’t cross with him, what turns him on, and what turns him off. Effective conflict management in marriage helps us to develop resilience and makes us to have a life of continuous victory in marriage. It is not being a Christian alone that gives you victory in marriage, it is submission to the Holy Spirit that gives you victory in marriage. That there will be challenges is a forgone conclusion, it will happen again and again over the course of your marriage; but God wants us to resolve these conflicts as they arise in marriage.

PRAYER:
I open up myself to the wisdom of the Ancient of days to have a victorious marriage here on earth. Amen!

*SPIRIT MEAT DAILY DEVOTIONAL BY REV. OLUSOLA AND REV. OYENIKE AREOGUN*
Wednesday, 25th December 2019

*TOPIC: RESOLVING CONFLICTS IN MARRIAGE (2)*
Amos 3:3, 1 Peter 3:7

One major principle in marriage is that conflicts are inevitable. *Conflicts are inevitable but they can be taken care of. Conflicts in marriage will give you two outcomes and you will determine the outcome you want to have. The two outcomes are Outcome of Misunderstanding and Outcome of Understanding. Understanding leads to respect, submission, cleaving and unity while Misunderstanding leads to despise, hatred, opposition, separation and disunity.* Take note, I didn’t mention divorce as one of the options. Conflicts well managed will lead to understanding but when not well managed, it leads to conquest and destruction.

*Dealing with conflicts in marriage, three things must be recognized; namely the issue, the person and the relationship.* Most of the time, couples deal with and attack the person and leave the issues unattended to. *Attacking the person and not the issue will weaken your relationship.* For example, telling your wife she forgets things a lot is attacking the person, and that will weaken your relationship somewhere. Men complain that women waste time; that is dealing with the person not the issue. Women on the contrary don’t actually waste time but use time differently from men.

Deal with conflicts at issue level. *Every time conflict shows up and you go after the person, the relationship gets weaker and soon you will need an expert to keep it from tearing.* You wonder why your husband withdrew or why your wife is silent; most likely you have not been dealing with conflicts at issue level.

*Couples should not hide matters from each other. Find out what the issue is.* One of the major problem areas in marriage is sex matters. These are matters that Christians especially don’t find easy to talk about because the devil convinced us that discussing sex is ungodly or sinful. But we forget that sex was created by God, not the devil. Why should unbelievers be talking more about sex than Christians?

*PRAYER:* LORD, I receive wisdom to apply the biblical principles to my marriage for excellence, growth and improvement.

TOPIC: RESOLVING CONFLICTS IN MARRIAGE (3)
Amos 3:3, 1 Peter 3:7

I want to continue today where I stopped yesterday concerning one of the major problem areas in marriage which is SEX MATTERS. I told you most Christians want to shy away from this but that will not be the best approach. Whenever the pastor gets on the matter of sex in church, everybody wants to wear the Saint-Mary look. There was a brother when we were growing up. He was about the holiest brother that you can see; he was always saying, “Don’t talk about sex.” I said, “Bro, you are not holy.” He was surprised. Today, among all of us that got married, he has the most number of children; he has children every year and he said we shouldn’t talk about sex.

A woman raised a question years ago: “My husband wants to kiss me but his mouth smells. How do I go about this? If I tell him, he will be offended.” Many women face that problem, and it is affecting their sex life. Now, if you don’t tell him, somebody will tell him outside in a bad place; how you tell him is where wisdom comes in. In that case, you can buy him a mouth wash. You will be the first to start using it and then you invite him to join you. You can also arrange that the two of you see the dentist together for some professional touch to the mouth odour. To allow mouth odour affect your sex life without dealing with it is foolish. So, don’t gloss over sex matters. If you are not mature enough to talk about sex, you are not mature enough for marriage.

Start disciplining yourself to attack every problem at issue level and deal with it there. Separate the issue from the person. The woman with the issue of blood is different from the issue of blood. You have issues and your wife has issues, solve the issues without attacking the person. Every attack against the person weakens the relationship. The first time I said sorry to my wife was not long after we got married. It was the Holy Spirit that told me to do so. I didn’t abuse her but spoke sharply to her while having a discussion.

You may need to apologize to your spouse also on discovering that you have done damage to that relationship by the use of words and the actions you have taken because of issues that could have been addressed. God will always defend the person; God will not excuse the issue, but He will defend the person. The devil will always come after the person and give you enough justification to keep attacking the person of each other until your marriage is irreparably damaged.

PRAYER: I receive boldness to take necessary steps and adjustments to make my marriage a heaven on the earth. Amen!

*TOPIC: MARRIAGE UNION AS AN OMELETTE (2) - Matthew 19:8, Malachi 2:15*

Yesterday, I started discussing with you the marriage union. I got on an important question of WHY DID YOU MARRY EACH OTHER. Today, we will complete that and move to some other points.

I was in a Christian gathering to minister some years back, and the Lord asked me to find out from people why they married their spouses. I was surprised, but the Lord told me it is going to answer the challenges those people are having in their homes. By the time I got their responses, not a single person married for love or divine purpose in that assembly. A man said he married to continue his family name. If the wife of such person didn’t give birth to a male child, it becomes a major issue. One said he got married because he was tired of house chores. He needed someone to help him out with that. That means he actually married a house maid not a wife.

There are different reasons people go into marriage. Socio-cultural reason was why some got married. The man or the lady was getting old and needed to settle down on time. You may need to find out from your spouse why he or she married you and that may settle some things in your union forever. Original reasons will affect your journey and behaviour in marriage.

2. HOW DID YOU START? This you also need to find out. You can either start as strangers or as friends. Most Christians start their relationship as strangers. Unbelievers however have better marriages than Christians at times because they usually start as friends. Even if you started your relationship as strangers, to have a victorious marriage, you must become friends. I pray that every married couple reading this will convert to friends if you are not; friends that you just enjoy each other. As Christians, you have the foundation; God led you to each other, but you must become friends. You can sit down, talk and enjoy life together.

PRAYER: I pray for you today that you will enjoy your marriage and not endure it. Amen!

*TOPIC: GODLY COUNSELS FOR COUPLES*
Ecclesiastes 4:9

Marriage is enjoyable; but the issue with many people is that men and women enter into marriage with great expectations but very low preparation. Looking at my marriage today, we started with nothing, but God has blessed our marriage.

I don’t know anything that you will do that will make God bless you than marriage. God can come into your marriage and use it for something powerful.

I will share with you some *godly counsels to make your marriage enjoyable and powerful.*

*1. Believe the best of each other*

*2. Build on the strength of each other-* dig out the strength of each other and build on it, don’t dig out the negative of each other.

*3. Don’t go to sleep unreconciled.* A key principle to a life of continuous victory and joy in marriage.

*4. Use words constructively.* Don’t forget the principle of dealing with the issue and not the person for a stronger relationship.

*5. Handle money with Godly wisdom, avoiding debt*

*6. Be teachable, be open to understanding that can help your marriage*

*7. Solve problems immediately–* remember, time does not heal the wound, it only numbs the pain

*8. Recognize the difference between problems and weakness-* the clash of weaknesses generates problems that people deal with, so identify your weakness, face it and solve it on your own with the Holy Spirit or spiritual help outside.

*9. Deal with ancestral problems-* identify the ancestry you are coming from. If God does not come into your life you are likely to repeat the traits of your ancestors, so it is good for you to know the traits of your ancestors and build defences against its manifestation in your life and marriage.

*10. Get close to God individually-* let the decisions that come from your walk with God and love for each other produce the bulk of changes in your marriage, not accidents.

*11. After God, make your spouse priority in your marriage and not an addendum.*

*PRAYER:* LORD, help me to apply these godly counsels to my marriage and build a home that brings glory to God always. Amen!

*TOPIC: THE ANOINTED DUO*
Ecclesiastes 4:9

*The anointed duo flow experience* was a declaration of the Holy Spirit upon my marriage some years back when my wife and I were in prayer. The Holy Spirit spoke and said, “You are my anointed duo” and placed an anointing upon us to call His children into the anointed duo flow. It wasn’t a phrase that we coined. You are not supposed to be an anointed ‘separate’; *you are supposed to be an anointed duo that has become one.* It is my prayer that this grace will come upon your life and your home. *A new degree of understanding and flow will come upon you.* You still have a long way to go and many things to do for God together.

We have not encountered a problem in the ministry since we have been on this road that the two us of sitting down and talking together did not talk into the solution; we talk and talk and just share between us and then suddenly we hit a gusher in the spirit, and the solutions begin to come with practical steps to take. It has never failed. I want something to come upon your marriage, *you will not discuss into problems again, you will discuss into solutions in Jesus’ Name.*

We have not agreed on anything yet that has not been done. The only person happy with the two of you (you and your spouse) not coming together is the devil. In all the years I have counselled and ministered to people in marriage, the first thing that God shows me is His purpose for their union and I tell them, “how can you be this blind, look at what God has for the two of you, why are you fighting to throw this away?” *Every time I succeed in making couples see what God has in plan for them, they become determined to make their marriage work. Don’t fight with each other, fight for the future the devil is trying to steal.*

*PRAYER:* I pray for you that God will give you the grace of an Anointed duo to overcome problems, break yokes, and remove barriers. Amen!

TOPIC: UNLOCKING THE POWER OF DAILY CHRISTIANITY (1)
1 CORINTHIANS 15:58, GALATIANS 6:9

Welcome to the New Decade, welcome to the New Year! My goal this month is to bring to your awareness daily practices that give birth to victorious Christian living. May God baptise you with sensitivity so that you will become aware of the daily practices in your life that are dangerous and also become inflamed to do the right spiritual practices that will make you a victorious and strong Christian on earth.

How would you like God to bless you with per minute income? But will you be willing to do per minute prayers? How about per second income? It can happen if you will get into per second activities too. Have you ever thought of per second sowing? How are you going to have per second reaping if you don’t do per second sowing?

If you wish to operate in God’s glory on a consistent basis, you must move into daily practices of the right nature. The truth is, whether you are conscious of it or not, you are living life daily. And as such you are already carrying out many activities daily. Problems arise when we fail to pay attention to daily activities of the wrong nature in our lives.

Take for example, an executive who works in such a way that he resumes by 8:00am and hardly gets up from his desk till 3:00pm. Doctors will tell you that the practice of sitting like that daily will affect your health negatively. Such a person is already doing something daily that isn’t safe but it is legal and legitimate and because it is legal, the danger in the practice is not always seen.

There are also some people that have daily routines by way of their diet that will kill them if they don’t change. On the converse, there are people who eat extremely healthily and go to the gym daily. They are developing a body that the devil can kill anytime. How much more those of us who have to develop our spirit? Can you imagine if it is said of you that you have never missed feeding your spirit with the Word of God 30minutes every day for 20years? Can you imagine that you have never missed 30minutes of speaking in tongues every day for the past 20years? What do you think will happen to that spirit? That spirit will have such a shape, such an influence, such power! Tomorrow, we will look at some activities we can do daily to achieve this.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, show me the wrong daily activities in my life that are dangerous to my physical, spiritual, emotional and financial health. Help me to replace them all with the right activities. Amen.

TOPIC: UNLOCKING THE POWER OF DAILY CHRISTIANITY (2) ISAIAH 50:4, MARK 1:35

Let’s take a look at the first daily practice you must have to unlock the power of daily Christianity:

1) *Waking up early to pray*

What sustained the anointing without measure on the Lord Jesus Christ, that healed people who came and touched His clothes is in the Bible passage above: God woke Him up morning by morning to pray. Wouldn’t you like to enter into this kind of relationship with the Holy Spirit – a morning by morning relationship with Him like our Lord Jesus Christ did?

If you want to be like Jesus, you must look at what Jesus did daily and get involved in the same activities. Most people don’t understand what the anointing does to them. If you are not doing some activities to service and maintain your spirit, the anointing will wear you out.

In Mark 1:35, Jesus must have been tired but the Holy Spirit woke Him up for His daily practice of prayer and He rose. We need to learn a lesson here: you can’t pray still lying down where you slept the night before. When the Holy Spirit wakes you up to pray, you may go back to sleep because you stayed on your bed instead of rising up. Jesus rose up, left the house, and went somewhere to pray. If you wake up in the bedroom, why don’t you get up and go to the kitchen, living room or study so you can be alert to pray. You can’t wake up on the bed and continue praying there; you are likely to fall asleep again. By the time you wake up finally, it will be too late to pray and it will be time to start the other daily activities that wear out your spirit and strengthen other things in your life. Meanwhile you have not done anything to balance your life.

Every born-again person has been given the capacity to hear God but you must constantly service that capacity so it does not die off.

PRAYER:
Dear Lord, show me the wrong daily activities in my life that are dangerous to my physical, spiritual, emotional and financial health. Help me to replace them all with the right activities. Amen.

*TOPIC: DAILY CORPORATE FELLOWSHIP AND DAILY EVANGELISM*
ACTS 2:46

The next daily activity you must carry out to *unlock the power of daily Christianity is corporate fellowship and daily evangelism.*

*It becomes so easy for Christians to fall into sin, to backslide, and to change their commitment because of the absence of daily practices*. The Bible recorded that *the Church in the Acts of Apostles continued (in fellowship) daily, and that was why they had such power*. *The devil has turned this into weekly gathering in our generation and even attacks the time that we spend in God’s presence now.*

When I started ministering as a Pastor, one of the greatest attacks that the enemy first launched against the ministry was to get people to say that we spent too much time in Church. So I went to ask the Lord: “Do I change? Is it good to listen to the people?” *And God told me that He did not say the people should form the minister for Him but that the minister should form the people for Him and this is where ministers started making mistakes*.

If it was today’s Church that brought the pattern they used in the Acts of Apostles, how easy do you think it would have been to do Church daily? *We need to find out what they were doing daily, not only in the Temple but also from house to house. No wonder they worked in such awareness and sensitivity to the Holy Spirit. The devil knows that if he lets this continue from generation to generation, the Church would take over the world.*

As the Apostles were doing spiritual activities daily, the Lord was adding such as were being saved to the Church daily (Acts 2:47). That means they were doing evangelism daily also but the devil got us to start reducing our daily spiritual activities.

*PRAYER*: Dear Lord, awaken in me an understanding of the importance of daily fellowship with fellow Christians. Help me to tell others about you when and where I can. Amen.

*TOPIC: DAILY PERSONAL FELLOWSHIP WITH THE FATHER - PSALM 110:1*

The next daily activity you must carry out to unlock the power of daily Christianity is developing a personal fellowship with the Father.

It is exciting when a man of God makes a proclamation of grace upon you but after you have received it by faith, you must begin the daily practices to make it your own practically.
It is this cessation of daily practices that has reduced the Church from a family of ministers to a separation of ministers and the rest. Everybody that is saved by Jesus is a minister. It’s just that some of us have found our portfolio and are engaged in the activities of that ministry. Whether you have found your own portfolio or not, the devil wants to reduce the rate of your spiritual practices.

The rate at which most Christians find it difficult to do the right spiritual activities daily is dangerous in the spirit. In fact, the kids that are being raised in many Churches today are hardly involved in any spiritual activities at all. In another 20 years when the same kids are leading the Church, the devil could take a break because there will be no more daily activities!

I believe that one hour is the minimum unit of spiritual power as mentioned by the Lord Jesus Christ in the Bible in Mark 14:37

37 And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest not thou watch one hour?

To fellowship is to service a relationship. You cannot grow as a Christian without fellowship with other Christians as well as with God. You must service your personal relationship vertically with God and horizontally with your fellow believers. If that fellowship is reduced, the passion is reduced and the relationship begins to die.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, help me to develop my spirit through daily fellowship with you and in your word. Amen.

*TOPIC:SEEK GOD FOR WHAT HE CREATED YOU FOR AND NOT YOUR NEED - LUKE 10:38-42*

Don’t let your fellowship with God centre around what you need Him for only but let it centre on what God made you for. God made you for His pleasure but you also need Him for issues in your life. For example, as a minister of the gospel, I need God for many things I can’t get by myself. I need God for power and anointing but if my relationship with God centres around those things alone, I won’t grow and I will not develop my spirit.

There are two issues that we deal with constantly in our walk with God:
a. What we need Him for
b. What He made us for.

These two things are well illustrated in the lives of two sisters in the Bible: Mary and Martha.
Luke 10:38-42 says;
38 Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.
39 And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word.
40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.
41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:
42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

Martha was consumed with serving while Mary sat at Jesus’ feet and listened to Him. Of the two of them, neither actually did anything wrong, but Mary did something much more vital to God and the reason for her creation. The Bible says after some time Martha was distracted with much serving. Note the word “distracted” because it is key to the subject matter here. One of the things the devil uses to break your spiritual focus in developing your spirit and walking with God is distraction.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, help me to develop my spirit through daily fellowship with you and in your word. Amen.

*TOPIC: DAILY WORSHIP - JOHN 4:24*

The next daily activity you must carry out to unlock the power of daily Christianity is worship. This is very simple but very important. Worship is giving expression in words and acts to an internal revelation of God that you have.

Worship is not just singing. Songs are a vehicle to carry worship as a substance to the Father. Don’t sing for singing sake. Worship must always flow from your heart. I like a story I read a long time ago of an event where a young man was asked to recite Psalm 23. He stood up and recited Psalm 23 like an orator. He had proper diction and pronunciation and everybody stood up and gave him a standing ovation. After this, an old missionary was asked to recite Psalm 23 and with a broken voice, the old man recited Psalm 23. By the time he finished, people were on their faces crying. An elderly minister there was asked what the difference between them was; he said the young man knew Psalm 23 but the old missionary knew the Shepherd.

When you sing, don’t aim to sing the song that you know; aim to sing to the God that the song is talking about. That is what makes whatever you do ministry. You don’t read the Bible like a newspaper, you read the Bible like a letter from somebody and ask, “Holy Spirit, what are You saying here?”

You must do worship. Worship is different from praise. Praise is celebrating God for what He can do. Thanksgiving is returning back to God to appreciate Him for what He has done but worship is the highest because it is coming to God for Who He is and not what He has done or what He can do. It is not a function of whether He blesses you or not.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, help me to worship you in spirit and in truth on a daily basis as I draw closer and closer to you. Amen.

*TOPIC WORSHIP MAKES YOU THANKFUL TO GOD EVEN FOR SEEMINGLY SMALL THINGS - JOHN 4:24*

To a lot of people, God is good because good things are happening in their lives. However, God is good because He is good and worship is worshipping Him for who He is. A man that worships God consistently will not find it difficult to thank God. Many people today, including ministers tend to take a lot of divine doings for granted because they feel they haven’t seen too much of God.

The devil wants us to come to a place that we take undue privileges for granted, and this happens because we are not spending time with God. When you spend time with God on a daily basis, you will be so conscious of His activities, His presence, and His doings in your life. When you spend time with God you see things that you can thank God for.

The devil can always handle each of us on our own but he can’t handle the God in us. The devil can’t handle the glory of God in our lives but he wants to separate us from that glory by keeping us from things that service that glory. That is why we must get into worship as the highest expression of our relationship with God. When it is worship time, don’t get carried away with the songs and the lyrics; let the lyrics strike your soul and then take it into the presence of God.

In our church, people are free to come before the altar during worship. Every child of God should be free to do whatever his heart is moving him to do in the presence of his Father. The Father gave us a born-again spirit. The Bible calls Him the Father of spirits (Hebrews 12:9b). So, every time you come to the presence of the Father as a believer, your spirit wants to express itself to the Father. Strive to make thanking God for anything He does for you a habit, no matter how small or insignificant the event, it’s never too extreme to thank God for it.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, help me to worship you in spirit and in truth on a daily basis as I draw closer and closer to you. Amen.

TOPIC: SET RIGHTEOUS LAWS FOR YOURSELF
JOHN 4:24

The next daily activity you must carry out to unlock the power of daily Christianity is setting righteous laws for yourself and living by those laws.

Discipline yourself never to come to God’s presence with complains first of all. Make a habit of thanking God first before bombarding Him with complaints and requests. Going further, you must discipline yourself to have a consistent prayer schedule. There are a lot of people who wait to be ‘led by God’ before they pray. Unfortunately, such people end up not praying enough, if at all.

The Bible tells us that the law was our schoolmaster – a pedagogue. A pedagogue is the man that takes a little boy from his father’s house and leads him to the entrance of his school so that he can be trained. The law was our schoolmaster to bring us into the anointing.

You are never going to come into the anointing until you put yourself under some form of law. All the people that said you can just claim anything by faith, what did you see in their lives by faith? They are the ones that make the Bible become mystical. They ignore law and discipline and do whatever is convenient for them under the guise of ‘being led’ to do so.

There is a Bible and there is a Holy Spirit. If you don’t spend time with the Holy Spirit, you can’t know the Bible. People who don’t spend time in the word of God and in fellowship with the Holy Spirit tend to end up with all sorts of strange spirits in operation in their lives.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, help me to set the right laws for myself. Give me the strength I need to discipline myself to live by them. Amen.

*TOPIC: PERSONAL DECISIONS AND SELF-DISCIPLINE FOR DAILY SPIRITUAL PRACTICES*

JOHN 4:24

The only way to sustain and enforce any law you set for yourself is through a series of personal decisions and self-discipline to enforce it. An important thing to note is that discipline takes time to build. You won’t have perfect self-discipline overnight. You develop discipline by sticking to your decisions day in, day out.

Don’t forget that we make minor decisions everyday but occasionally we will be called to make critical decisions. Why do people fail to carry out decisions? Why do they carry out decisions occasionally and don’t continue? It is because decisions must be supported with steps for them to last. Start taking daily steps to sustain critical righteous decisions you make in the presence of God.

When you start making serious decisions with serious steps to back them up, you can be sure that’s where the devil will show up to resist you because he is not afraid of your desires but he is afraid of your decisions. You will not arise until you make a decision. The prodigal son made a decision, “I will arise” and he started moving towards his restoration. You will live in a world of dreams until you decide to do something about your decisions. It is not the decision that is the key to success, it is the effective, sustained, continuous management of decisions that brings result and that must be daily. You must ask yourself: “What are the daily steps that I am taking to sustain some decisions?”

God has always been waiting for a fellowship with us. He has great and precious things reserved for us in His presence. Get into place and receive these special divine reserves as you consistently practice the spiritual practices already mentioned daily. All things are yours!

*PRAYER:* I want to know You as I am known. Lord, take me deeper; I don’t want to stay on the shore, take me to the deeper part of the water. Lord, do something in my life that I will never recover from. Amen.

*TOPIC: MAKING JESUS YOUR LORD ON A DAILY BASIS*
ACTS 9:6, ROMANS 10:9-10

*The best decision a human being can make for himself is to make Jesus his Saviour.* When Jesus becomes your saviour, all your sins are forgiven and you are washed in His blood, but that is not where the glory lies; that is just your entrance into the process for the glory of God that was lost in the Garden of Eden to return to your life. You enter the restoration of that glory at salvation when Jesus becomes your Saviour and the majority of believers have that. *Making Jesus your Lord is not your best decision, it is your “last” decision and that must be clear to you as a believer.*

The difference between Jesus as your Saviour and Jesus as your Lord is that *Jesus as your Saviour qualifies you for heaven, but Jesus as your Lord qualifies your life to be used by God to make an impact.* You can make heaven without Jesus using you because He paid the price with His blood. As a believer, you must come to that place that you make Jesus your Lord by handing over the control of your whole life to Him. *What it means for Jesus to be your Lord is that He makes the decisions and you just carry them out.*

*The difference between a good Christian life and a great Christian life is the time difference between when you made Jesus your Saviour and when you made Him your Lord.* Paul was such an outstanding Apostle and disciple because he made both decisions the same day. When Jesus stepped into his life, he asked, _“Lord, what will you have me do (Act. 9:6)?”_ and Jesus told him.

*PRAYER:* Lord Jesus, I give up the ownership of my life and I make you Lord overall. From now on, you lead the way and I will follow in Jesus’ name. Amen!

*TOPIC: DAILY SUBMITTING YOUR WILL TO THE LORD’S WILL (1)*
ACTS 2:36, LUKE 6:46

*Making Jesus your Saviour* is like driving your car and giving Jesus a space in your car as a passenger. This means the car is yours, you are in control, and Jesus is going with you. You are the one making the decisions on where to turn and where to go.

*Making Jesus your Lord* is when you hand over the steering wheel of your car to Him and He takes charge. It entails handing your life over to Jesus to do with as He pleases.

As your Saviour, you received Jesus because He wasn’t there before *but when you make Him your Lord, He makes decisions for you. You don’t say “No” to the Lord. If He is Lord, your answer should always be, “Yes, Lord”. No other person can be your Lord. You can only have one Lord, and it is only Jesus that is qualified to be your Lord.*

There is a glory that comes and can only come into your life as a child of God when you make Jesus your Lord. If there is an issue in your life that you’ve been struggling with God about and you can’t say a convincing “Yes Lord” from the depth of your heart, He is not yet Lord in your life.

*Until He is totally Lord, there is still something divine you will not have access to. Lordship releases the fullness of God’s glory into your life.*

*PRAYER:* Father, I submit my will to your will. Not my will but yours be done in my life and my affairs in Jesus’ name. Amen!

*TOPIC: DAILY SUBMITTING YOUR WILL TO THE LORD’S WILL (2)*
MATTHEW 26:39, MATTHEW 21:1-12

The Lord Jesus Christ said in the garden of Gethsemane, “Not as I will, but as you will Lord (Mat. 26:39).” It was at that point that victory was won for the human race. The victory for the human race was not won on the cross; it was won in the garden of Gethsemane. It was a battle over who controls your will.

The two strongest forces on the earth and in your life are the will of God and the will of man. When you make Jesus your Lord, you are submitting your will to His will. Satan became the devil when he promoted his will above the will of God. What makes a man a “devil” is when he chooses his will against God’s will.

Handing your will over to the Lord will affect every area of your life – your affairs, finances, marriage, everything. The colt that Jesus rode on in Matthew 21 was useless until Jesus rode on it. You will not see a dimension of glory until you choose who will ride you. In Matthew 21, men began to lay their clothes on the floor and sing because of who was on the colt. Every believer is like that colt. You determine the level of glory you will attain by whom you choose to ride on you. When you choose to obey God and make Him Lord over your life, the glory breaks forth. But most times when people receive Jesus Christ as their Saviour, this distinction is not made.

*PRAYER:* Jesus, I make a fresh commitment today, like the colt, I say ride on my back. Have your way in my life in Jesus’ name. Amen!

TOPIC: DAILY PREPARING A WAY FOR THE GLORY OF THE LORD
LUKE 3:4, ISAIAH 40:3-5

How well can the Lord move in your life? *You are the only one that can determine how well the Lord will move in your life. And how well the Lord will move in your life will determine the degree of glory that will shine through your life*. *If it is impossible for the Lord to move in your life at all, no glory will shine through even though you belong to Him.*
God wants a way to walk and work in your home, church, marriage, business, and every other area of your life but how easy is it for the Lord to move? *There are churches where the Lord can’t move because they don’t include Him in their programme;* they are just a gathering of human beings doing their own things even though they call on the name of the Lord.
*“Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make His path straight.” What kind of path does the Lord have in your life? Is your life still a jungle, mountain, hill, or river that has no defined path for the Lord to walk through as described in Isaiah 40:3-5?*
Allow the Lord to bring low every mountain and fill every valley in your life. Allow Him to make every crooked path straight and every rough path smooth. His is the path we are making. We are commanded to make a way for Him in our lives, ministries, families, businesses. *Who is the road engineer in this context? *The road engineer is you and the Holy Spirit.*

PRAYER:
Sweet Holy Spirit, begin a quick work in my life that makes the operations of God in me easy and fast in Jesus’ name. Amen!

*TOPIC: FOUR AREAS DETERMINE THE SPEED AND EASE WITH WHICH GOD OPERATES IN YOUR LIFE (1)*
ISAIAH 40:3-5

There are four things you must deal with for your life to be a highway for the Lord as highlighted in Isaiah 40:4-5 we read earlier.

*1. THE VALLEYS:* The valleys in your life must be filled. Those *valleys are the low points in our lives – areas of secret sins, shame, and depression.* These are areas in our lives where the enemy has hiding places. A valley is a depression created between two mountains. Some valleys are wide while some are very deep but one thing that is common with valleys is that it is a place of shadow and darkness. So, *anything and any area in your life that provides a comfortable zone for the devil to function makes it difficult for the Lord to move and must be filled up.* A valley could also connote areas of mistakes in your life.

*2. THE MOUNTAINS AND THE HILLS: Mountains represent past achievements that have the tendency to keep us from moving on with God.* They represent things that are gain to us. Things that people see in your life and celebrate are mountains you must bring low. It doesn’t mean that you deny them, just make them come low and then hand them over to the Lord and move on. This is what Apostle Paul was addressing in his life in Philippians 3:7. Don’t ever come to a place in your life that you feel, “Yes, I’ve done it all.” Check what you constantly refer to in your speech. *Anything that tends to make you proud is a mountain that must be brought low otherwise, it will become a stumbling block to the Lord in your life.*

*PRAYER:* Lord, let every valley in my life be filled up and every mountain and hill be levelled up in my life in Jesus’ name!

*TOPIC: FOUR AREAS DETERMINE THE SPEED AND EASE WITH WHICH GOD OPERATES IN YOUR LIFE (2) - ISAIAH 40:3-5*

We started looking at four areas in your life that you must deal with for the operations of God in your life to happen with ease and speed. I will show you two more areas today:
3.CROOKED AREAS: A crooked thing is something that looks straight from a distance but is not in the actual sense, and it’s also not safe. Crooked areas are those areas in your life where there is a mixture of flesh and spirit; these are grey areas. There is no grey area in the spirit; it’s either black or white. So, when there is an area of confusion in your spirit, there is something crooked in your life and you as a person must be sincere with yourself and allow the Holy Spirit to show you. Remember that I mentioned earlier that the Holy Spirit together with you is the road engineer of the highway you need to make for the Lord to go through in your affairs. But the Holy Spirit will not get involved without your participation.

4.THE ROUGH WAYS: The rough ways are the things that are uncultivated and untamed in our lives. Sometimes, these are learned behaviours, natural, and ancestral tendencies that are dangerous to our future. One of the ways by which God smoothens our rough edges is by placing us in proximity with people that will sharpen and smoothen us out. Sometimes, God places you in a Church where the pastor seems hard on you. If you go to a Church where they celebrate you in the flesh, you will not have your rough edges dealt with.

PRAYER: Father, let there be a straightening of crooked areas in my life and a smoothening of rough places in Jesus’ name. Amen!

TOPIC: CHRISTIANITY REQUIRES DAILY FELLOWSHIP OF THE RIGHT KIND
JOHN 15:1-4

There are different kinds of fellowship in the spirit. Hence, you must be careful that you do not join the wrong kind of fellowship. Christianity is a fellowship because it is a relationship and not a religion. You cannot have effective Christianity without a Living Saviour that is intensely involved with His followers.
In the Amplified Classic version of the Bible, paraphrasing verse 4 says, “…remain in vital union with me”. There is a legal union that takes place when you give your life to Christ and that legal union must become a legal transaction on a daily basis. Just like marriage has a legal side and a vital side, so also does your relationship with God. The strength of a marriage does not depend on the number of people that attended the wedding but on the strength of the fellowship between the husband and his wife. It is possible to be legally married and practically divorced and be living together as two strangers in the same house.
That is the picture of the Christian life of many people – they have a relationship that is legal with Jesus, but it is not a living relationship currently. This is a dangerous position to be. You must engage in a daily fellowship of the right kind. Do not stay on the same spot spiritually for several days.
Verse 4 of the passage suggests that abiding in the Lord is our responsibility and it entails fellowship with the Master. “I in you” is a direct subset of “Abide in me”. “To abide” means “to dwell”. This is the key to being a productive and fruitful Christian.

PRAYER:
Lord, I pray for a renewed fellowship. Let there be a refreshing upon my worship altar in Jesus’ name. Amen!
