i do not for the life of me see why u have wireless issues. the network stack is exactly the same as it was in 10.10.

what u may do is check synaptic for any additional network manager/wifi plugins and install them.

and maybe, just maybe you have settings wrong, check the settings well, expose the passwords, the protocols etc. u just may have an error somewhere

i was having issues with dongles till i checked and saw something was kooky by default.


is it a general thing for all wireless connections u tried, or for just that particular network. and that creating wireless network thingy, u ever done it successfully? i never did

what i do know is iv seen numerous tuts on a win/mac dualboot hackintosh.

also i know that the partition/drive has to be formatted into GUID table structure. (thank God for gparted). else u would need to use a mac install to format the partition/drive first, before u can install it, seeing that it does not do live cd

anyways, bottomline, i dont think so, but till i try it, i cant be categorical.


anyway, do u have any ideas on how to manage a 7.4. gb .iso? are there dvds commercially available big enuf for that? i dont have a usb large enuf. and frankly, a 7 gb iso is a pain t download via torrents.

i meant that when u try to switch display managers and your DE does not come up again after uninstalling KDE (if u want to after installing it alongside Gnome)

i find that usually, attempts to uninstall KDE usually makes you lose a few packages that will affect gnome and u have to download them back. therefore u need internet and when u cannot even get your desktop up, u are stuck in prompt.

u then need internet via Ethernet or wireless thats on always on. except of course you can use wvdial entirely from terminal for your dial up.



anyway, for unity, quite a few tools are beginning to show up to help functionality, and tweaking.

one of them is an app called confity.

naaah, weaver i beg to differ.

its better to download the iso and create a new partition.

downloading KDE libraries gives u a whole lot of duplicated utility apps, mixed elements, unneccesary space usage, and even worse ur updates become a chore as whenever it updates u get updates for both the gnome apps and KDE apps

its really not ideal for a person who is not too versed in using these things.

and to make matters worse, if u decide to remove one desktop, its a bother o. u have to hunt down a script to do it, and usually u end up with a broken system. (etc he display manager choice)

they are small irritances for an experienced user maybe, but if u dont like hassle, do not install KDE along gnome.

iv done it a couple of times, ended up frustrated and formatting.

y'all need to google worlds fastest internet speeds and be wowed at what some folks get commercially. matter of fact, 1Gbps internet is already in trial by google in america. so?

the scam in nigeria is not merely the prices, its the total package itself, Qos especially.

when you say u pay 24 dollars or pounds for broadband abroad, u need to realise 95% internet users in nigeris have never seen broadband speed in their lives yet they pay more than u do.
i stand to be corrected but the highest speed in nigeria is 3g which is just being introduced by a few like swift. hitherto we have peeps like mtn with 384 kbps SHARED. thus when a naija guy creams his pants over speed he probably just clocked 150 kbps for ten secs.

add this to 50 percent downtime, you begin to get the picture. so wen we complain about the prices etc, PLS STOP DEMONSTRATING UR MUMU BY TRYING TO JUSTIFY IT.

there is no excuse for selling people third rate internet at first rate prices.

oh and i forgot, data caps, time limits. like that fellow proudly advertising his starcomms 6500, he forgot to add he has just 100 hrs usage. thats about 4 days 24/7 usage. so u can be sure he rations his time in the net.
and the 16k glo plan is limited to 18gb of data, u dare not stream.

anyway, believe it or not, internet is still regarded as a luxury hereabouts. pity
