I’ve written a little (sarcasm ) on this thread, but I still believe the ‘issues’ lie in a few main groupings

1. Playing staff not good enough - I believe at least 80% of goners agree with this, the biggest bone of contention remains WHY the playing staff isn’t good enough.

Is it because:

a) Wenger is cheap and refuses to spend funds given him by the board but likes French players above all else?

b) Wenger is given funds by the board but he wastes it on giving ‘youth’ exorbitant deals and buying duds?

c) Wenger simply doesn’t have the funds and makes the best use (in his view) of the funds, but makes some mistakes (just like every other manager out there)

d) The board really isn’t interested in winning so they ration out funds that keep us ‘competitive’ (i.e in the top 4) but never enough to win the trophies.

e) The players are good enough in principle, Wenger’s inability to coach them is what makes them perform so badly.

I’d like to run a poll on this and let fans vote on their opinions - you can choose a maximum of two options each.

If the moderators can oblige with a poll that would be much appreciated.

(f) he has a decent sum of money (not major), but spends it foolishly/miserly in picking up the dregs of the market, and is tactically incompetent such as to further hamper his crappy wards efforts at doing anything tangible.

because if you do not realise the import of your arguments, you are practically saying that someone like sam allardyce is actually very good but hampered by lack of funds at the clubs he has been with!!

and add one of the following lines at the very end of the file

if using an USB modem: stty -F /dev/ttyUSB0 115200

save, and exit gedit. Next time you boot everything should be alright.

ok so i finally found my first bug in unity. serious one too as far as i can tell.

i installed the proprietary drivers for my laptop (ATI card) and rebooted. all i got upon reboot was the wallpaper!!! no desktop. even worse all the keyboard shortcuts i knew for unity were not working, even alt+f2.

ctrl alt del worked to reboot, so i went into recovery option in grub, booted into the safe mode low vga desktop and enabled the login page. (usually i disable it, its just me using my pc). when i did that, i rebooted and choose the classic desktop and that worked fine.

lo and behold unity had disappeared!!

at first i thought it was the driver i installed, i disabled it, but nuthin changed. so i enabled it back. stuck. . . . . . till i figured out that terminal was staring at me!! lol. (hard to believe isnt it)

well the command to reset unity is "unity --reset"

so i ran that and it said, untiy was not installed. it was a "im so stupid moment"

so i sudo apt-get install unity, and presto unity is back, with all my settings too.


MORAL:

updates and installs can break ur unity desktop.(all u get is wallpaper)

to get it back, do Ctrl ALt T to bring up a terminal

unity --reset to restore.

if it says unity has been uninstalled, then install it back!!!

u can also just do this in the classic desktop too
