try to get someone with a similar laptop anduse ur charger on that laptop, also use the person's charger on your laptop.

alternatively, just take the charger to a tech person, and ask the person to check it if its still working.

when we find out that the issue is not with the power source, then we move to the laptop.

i have been using ubuntu for close to two years, neva saw need for one. we are not too important for virus makers to write viruses for na!!!!

you need to run the no-cd crack, check on the cd u used for it, if its not there, then check online, maybe in torrent sites like piratebay

you ned to use the norton antivirus removal tool, its a sofware for uninstalling norton properly. google it, its free to download. install and run it.

did u install and apply the no-cd crack? the game is meant to be run with a cd, if u dont have the cd, u have to crack the game, then also apply the no-cd crack. consult the source where u got the game for the crack, or else, mount the cd image via daemon tools and run like that.

do u have the drivers for your wireless card installed, if you dont google for your laptop make and model no drivers, download as appropriate and install.

for the games, you should solve that one yourself, what went wrong, that you cannot save the games? are the games already installed but u cant save the games you play?

you most definitely have a virus, get a good antivirus, update it then scan and disinfect your system.
2, go into add and delete and uninstall all the plenty junk softwares that came with the system, they are bloatware, ahve no purpose except slow down your pc and provide more vulnerable targets for viral attacks.

3. after all that, uninstall the mozilla, delete the folder in program files folder, re install.

4. get a small free software called cc cleaner, install it and run at least once a week.

you are supposed to get the pc suite software for the n70 fone, install it and it will also install the fones drivers, then plug in your fone and configure as apprpriate. if you already have the pc suite installed, and it gives you the error, check if your connecting cable is still ok, else the usb port is bad.

" v3 welcome to the way of the penguin.

1 first thing is you update the system, on mint there are like three ways to do that, the padlock like icon at ur bottom right is a link to the mint update tool, rightclick and choose refresh AFTER CONNECTING ONLINE O!

second way is going into preferences and choosing synaptic package manager, there you also refresh

or much faster open a terminal, and do 'sudo apt-get update', then authenticate with your password.


for eyecandy you have compiz fusion already installed in mint, what you need to do is to get your vga card driver if needed. go into preferences and chhose the hardware thingy, it will download the driver for you. after that you can use the simple compiz-config tool to select the effizzy you want. there are a lot of crazy effizy there o!!!

you can also just right click your desktop and choose change wallpaper to go to the walpaper/themes/icons settings ish, change to whichever. NOTE just set ur own wallpaper from any picture u have, just like windows.

you can also download more themes using the link in the ish. as for the green, you can change it but like me, i also dislike all the greenery. but its better than all brown or orange in mainstream ubuntu .

well for the online ish, you can set a proxy for the entire system in the network proxy tab in preferences too!!!

for tools, well mint also comes with java, so u can always fire up ur YF, download the ware for linux, unzip it into a folder on say desktop
open the folder, right click on empty space init and choose terminal here
when the terminal open do:

'sudo java -jar freedom.jar'
you know the rest.

you can then set network proxy as appropriate, and then update the system and also download tortoise, jap, ETC ETC, ETC.

note check the sofware manager thing for so many softwares. they all free, VLC etc etc

@ v3. nope that one is a bit advanced for u o! not really but that doesnt concern you as it is.
you dont need anor hard drive, all u need is to partition your current drive and install ubuntu in the free partition. you dont even need to do anything other than click your mouse 5 times, the thing is intelligent enough to do all the necessary for you incl the dual boot config.

@ weaver, so it seems. i did think of that but i was wary of sumtin screwing up. what i did was to remove the xp drive and put in the new one, installed mint on it., booted it and it worked fine.

so i then removed the drive back, put in the xp as slave and the mint drive as master. but the useless thing first beeped and complained abt disk controller, then stopped even going beyond the bios screen.
i was sleepy so i left it. will look into it later, but it should work the way i wanted to do it anyway.

nb. the mint drive is partitioned as ext4 and it doesnt come up in windows at all though the drive letter is missing (as in jumped ie. c, d, f g)

i was sleepy anyways so i will look into it today, if it doesnt work will use grub 4 dos. its already there anyway for puppy.

@ earlier post, you can scratch that cos i found that it was the way i envisioned it to be, I.E you change the jumper on the drives and make ubuntu drive master and xp drive slave, then it boots ubuntu naturally, then edit grub to include xp on drive two with map cmd.



funny thing is since i swapped the jumper switches, the pc refused to pass the bios screen stage returning it has also not helped.
will look into that later though, but it seems to be a hardware issue.


SUMMARY:
if u wanna add a new hard drive with ubuntu on installed on it already to a pc with a windows drive
(essentially one os per hard drive instead of two os on one drive)

1. you switch off and open the pc

2. you change the jumper switches on the hard drives thereby making the ubuntu harddrive to be the primary drive (master) and the windows drive secondary (slave)

3. you hook the pc up back and put it on, it will boot the ubuntu os.

4. you open terminal and edit the grub to add an entry for windows (adding map if the windows drive is partitioned)

5. you reboot and can now see entries for the two os and can boot into either.

But hold on, what about this. If i have a pc with xp on a sole drive. Then i have ubuntu on an entirely different pc also sole boot.
Now i want to remove the ubuntu drive and put it in the machine with xp as a slave drive. How do i boot it? The xp still boots per usual not seeing the new drive when booting, grub2 is installed on ubuntu mbr, repair grub will put grub where on xp(master) drive?



Thinking of doing above, wanna ask b4 cooking the pc.
