what jsut usually happens is, if its not working out of the box, u have to find out the hardware id of the modem, (its a modem too anyway), then modprobe it and add it to the list of drivers that autmatically load on bootup.

then u use GPPP, or wvdial to start it.
it'l probably work without any hassle though

^^^ well first thing is, that claim for 2.4 mbps etc is A BLATANT LIE. believe u me if one could achieve that on starcomms izap, mtn would be out of data bizness.
the most u wil get is maybe 250 kBps download and thats pushing it. no phone co can give u speed like that in nigeria.

for the compatibility, hey lookfor the model name and no of the data card they sell for izap and google it and ubuntu (izap 2213 ubuntu) kinda. u will definitely get results that will indicate to u wats up. if it works or if it wors with workrounds etc.

but then i frequent ubuntu forums and i rarely see pple with data card issues, seems the crads are not much different across board except in terms of speed. anyway cheers

aww, it was in computer village, the mabtech building, one of the shops on the ground floor not the ones with everthing stackd to the road, like one of the first five shops in that bulidng ground floor if u are walking down from that popular phone shop(forgotten the name right now)

hmmmnnnn. well as far as i know the blackberry comes with its own pc suite called blackberry manager and i guess thats one of the things its supposed to do.

secondly if he is subscribed to a black berry service (BBS) or (BBI) its a peach to set up on windows!

thirdly if in case his blackberry is not subscribed to a service and as such does not have the internet icons and such, it can be hacked easily with the same blackberry manager. if he does not have the BBM he can download it its free online.


MORE IMPORTANTLY, he can and should register ASAP at blackberry forums. there are a lot of them and as a matter of fact windows users have it easy than mac or linux users which is why i stumbled onto those things anyway. i dont own or use a black berry.
