It works, set the proxy. U can do that after u enter the url link it prompts u on location etc. The place 2 input proxy is there too.

anyways, u know i decided to try KDE again this time on puppy linux (lighthouse pup) and though its limited in some ways because its a puplet, well its not so bad, funny though i preferred the 3.5 to the 4.3 though my test machine is really old so its slow on 4.3

to my problem, pls has anyone tried using unetbootin?

i got saddled with a laptop without a cd drive but with windows xp on it. the owner asked me to help by putting that my OS "am always making mouth about" on it as long does what he uses laptop to do, check mail, type docs.

now the laptop unfortunately wont boot from usb, but it was while i was exploring that option that i saw unetbootin and saw it could do frugal installs on hard drives too.



my question is, what exactly does that thing do? cos i read the documentation and it talks about removing the unetbootin after install and removing the boot entries.
so what am i left with after install? i dont understand, will the system be bootable?


iv done frugal installs with puppy linux before and grub4win installs too, but i just dont understand, is this like those ones? i would have done it straightup, but the system aint mine and i hate to have to reinstall the xp without a cd drive.

i think we should start a old hardware thread, for some of us who love the good old days, if u didnt see that laptop physically, u wouldnt know how old and archaic it is!!!! wonders of open source eh!!!

you do that by plugging in the dongle, let the usual install bala bla fail. just leave it plugged in
>> going into device manager, look for it there, u see it with the exclamation marks shizzle, rightclick on it, go to the hard ware id tab, copy watever u see there into a notepad.

>> theen open windows explorer (not internet explorer o ) just open documents or any folder, use the address box type in C:\WINDOWS\INF

it will open a system folder, look for the bth.inf file, rightclick and open it with notepad
u will see all the dongles that are plug and play with that driver in there, just create one with any name, eg i use 4llerbuntu, then scroll down and follow the examples there and create ur own device using the earlier captured device id

save and close all open windows. remove the dongle from the system, plug it back in and the system will install the plug and play drivers for it.

thats a gud dongle u have there, used to have it and used to complain until it got broken and i got anor 1, then i saw that it was actually gr8, like 70-100m range. yes its that gud, my neighbors 3 rooms away in school used to try to connect to my laptop. thats thru 2 walls!!!

there is actually a site for it that u can get the bluesoleil with its license, only prob is i cannot remember the site, and google wont easily lead you to it too. funny though when i did get the bluesoleil, i found that it also didnt have the license!!! crazy!!

what i did and whats ur best option is to hack the windows bth.inf driver for it. works plug and play like a dream onwards (ONLY ON XP O!) vista user u on ur own.

what i find to be true is

Wateva u do dont waste ur money on dtp or computer appreciation or wateva fancy name its called. Waste of money n time 2 get stm1 to teach u hw to point a mouse 4 3 months.


Decide wat u wanna do. Hardware engineering or software(usually programming) most of those fancy name courses are programming anyway but you need directions on which ones to do. Not all are lucrative and some are not in demand anymore.

i believe it only upgradesor changes the sofware in the modem, iv tried it on my modem, i saw no difference other than the change in software.

the mtn software got changed, which may not really be a great thing because now i cant check my balance on the computer anymore!! i have to put the sim in a phone.

the main reason why i tried it, which was to get the modem to work with Glo was unsuccessful, it still doesnt work and is not any faster.

bottomline, i only recommend it if the software in your modem has been corrupted

i doubt if u can update the firmware!!

BUT if the software in it is corrupted, you can update that. i used that of Huawei E160 on my Huawei E156G and it changed the mtn software to the vanilla one from huawei.

i got the software from huawei's site, the one for E156G was not there so i used that of E160. my modem works perfectly still.

i dont know about ZTE but im guessing it should be the same.
