i askd the only thing they told me is to use PDNET and its nt available on LINUX
I'll tell you for free that PDANET doesn't do what you want too.

There's apps that you can use to tether the hotspot on a phone after starting a VPN.
Normally, if you use a VPN you can't use the hotspot, but those apps let you do it

So look for VPN tethering apps.

Like I said before, this issue had nothing to do with Linux. Best go ask in phone section

PhonesRe: The Xiaomi Thread. by 4llerbuntu(m): 2:00pm On Jun 19, 2017
a major reason for these camera arguments is that you don't know how to take photos and know next to nothing about camera settings.

with a little knowledge, you'd take shots that are very decent with these cameras that you keep complaining about.

pro-tip, use an app like OpenCamera or Bacon Camera instead of the stock MIUI camera app.

i recommend Open Camera, its free too

learn a bit about exposure and timing and that alone will make a world of difference.. Open Camera allows you lock exposure too so you can have your photos have a consistent exposure setting in one particular place. between that, and HDR you will have great photos without even knowing how to use manual controls
ComputersRe: Ubuntu Linux by 4llerbuntu(m): 6:07am On Jun 19, 2017
The tethering is done on the device where you installed your VPN app, not on Linux or Windows.

Your search should be how to tether your phones vpn connection.

Congratulations!!

No pictures of your conquest? Who eventually got the cash price?
nobody got the prize. i did it myself

i did give out some money upfront as 'proof' that i'd pay, but i didn't get any ROM from that.

all i got was some directions that ultimately didn't prove to be very useful so.........

I'll post shots later. i'm busy doing other experiments, seeing that I've solved the main issue
PhonesRe: Bounty: 10k For A Cyanogenmod Port For Tecno Droipad 8h by 4llerbuntu(op): 12:22pm On Jun 16, 2017
UPDATE!!

Successfully ported a fully functional AOSP rom

so now i have a working recovery and working custom rom, hopefully the first of many.

Tried all the porting guides, even had some advice from Madjnr, which ultimately got me a ROM with no Audio no matter how hard i tried to follow all those guides and how-to's online and from folks

Left it for a while, then decided to be drastic about it. Didn't have anything to lose in my view.

I thought what really changes in port roms is the UI. its not like you can add any hardware capability that your device didn't have before e.g if your device doesn't have NFC, you can't magically add it by porting a ROM. You just change the UI by which you interact with that hardware.
SO why not just use *ONLY* those things that have to do with UI from the port rom

So i did this:

in the port ROM /system folder i deleted the folders leaving just
FRAMEWORK,
APP,
ADDON.D
PRIV-APP

folders

the ones i deleted i replaced with their equivalent from the stock rom

then replaced the boot.img with the stock ROM and zipped it all up

flashed it and it booted and everything works fine. cheesy cheesy cheesy

so there's that. I'm sharing so that someday someone might be in this position and decide to try this.

Cheers

Hian.

Me Ntel troll? This is very unfair, and i wee not take eeet. Everyone here knows that i'm Ntel's biggest fan and stan(minus ley08) *coughs*

Even Ntel staff here will testify to how i'm their bestest customer of the year.

Anyways, the scam of the outdoor GSM antenna has been upon us since the days of Methuselah. having tried several, including those sold by Swift, Spectranet and some random brands from the market, i verily saith unto thee that they simply do not work.

Just install LTE Discovery or any other similar app that can enable you see the signal level on your android phone with NTEL sim in it (some custom roms allow you to switch the signal bar to dBm text too) and walk round your house looking at the signal level.

the place with the lowest dBm is where the signal is strongest, put your desktop modem there. Daz all

and if in your place you are unable to get anything lower than 90dBm, the signal level is too weak to be of any reasonable use to you tbh.

That's how it is.

If you want to see data symbol without data or credit peg your network to 2G or 3G.

Although I'm not quite sure what use the symbol is to you if you don't have data or credit.....

it has improved

i changed my mifi from 2.4g to 5g

now getting the default 1.3mb/s
thats nice.

but i'm not sure what your local wlan network has to do with their speeds.

can you try returning to the 2.4Ghz wlan to see if the speeds still crawl

we use their router and the LAN is shit, i've tried the 5Ghz band for wireless, its still shit

My opinion, buying a mi band two now is not worth it,why not wait for mi band 3 cos am sure xiaomi dey cook sumtin sweet,i am tempted ro buy the band 2 as well, but i suspect dey wud release d 3 soon
I'm ok with this one. It does exactly what I need it for. Other than a bigger screen and accurate heart rate monitor i don't see what the improvements will be. The battery life is already 3 weeks on this one

Some times these things aren't so clear cut. For instance, these Note 4x they are selling isn't better than Note 3 SE. Design and new colors maybe, but real improvement isn't there.

The note 3 I'm using is perfectly serviceable. Unless I just feel like buying a new device.

Yeah. If you love Xiaomi Themes you must port to Chinese ROM. Though there was a time somebody ported the theme from Chinese ROM to global ROM.

But since am not using global I didn't bother to check it out then
Or just use Xiaomi.eu ROMs which are based on the Chinese Dev roms

Meanwhile, yesterday their oga was at one function advocating for increase in prices of data.

I had to go and look at their prices again to be sure I wasn't mistaken. They have what's arguably the most expensive data plans in the country, bar this 'limited unlimited' plan and you are still asking for prices to go up.

I laugh in Swahili.

One day you people will buy 100mb at 2k in this country by the time these people have their wy
PhonesRe: Subscriber Options for UNLIMITED Internet - WORTH IT? by 4llerbuntu(m): 11:50am On Jun 03, 2017
Lol. Please.

Throttling is very much in effect.

What has changed is that they improved it to around 90kbps max, usually 30kbps and the reset time is arbitrary.

The line I use in my office gets reset around 3-4pm daily these days.

When it's reset, speeds improve to about 1mbps and once 3gb is used, it reverts.

This is the same for 2 other lines around me that I can verify. Each one has different reset times.

If you are really not experiencing throttling like u claim, your plan isn't the 12k one

But then, there's no harm in giving them 12k for a month to test if true.
Like I always say, a trial will convict you
