Alan Hansen is an authority in footie. I am sure you've never heard the
name before, that explains your conclusion that he is a mere footie fan huh
Alan Hansen was the man that said "you can never win anything with kids" with regards to Man Utd's youthfull squad of 95/95 season which went on to win the domestic double.

Otherwise he is a good analyst grin

BusinessRe: What Is Money and Where Does It Come From? by 4Play(m): 1:23pm On Apr 10, 2007
Seun:
Hmmm. The absolute quantity of money in a country doesn't matter. What matters is what you can buy with it. wink
The quantity of money affects what you can buy.More money often leads to more choice. The more money you have ,the more you can buy and the greater your range of choices.

On their website, it says hand in relevant pictures of the project, this implies that they rely on the public for a lot of their media
Wow!So the brains behind the project are relying on the general public to take pictures of their project for them? Can't they just take it themselves and post it on their site?

FoodRe: Is Food Scarce In Nigeria? by 4Play(m): 11:12am On Apr 10, 2007
Seun:
This is completely wrong.  Your error is known as the broken window fallacy.  In a nutshell, you're basing your decision on what can be seen but failing to account for what cannot be seen: freedomkeys.com/window.htm
BWF is more relevant when we are talking about Govt spending not private consumption. If I wasn't spending the money on wasted food I might not spend it at all.No suits, just savings.

Seun:
Yes, it is true that the food that is thrown away gives farmers some income, but if food is not thrown away, the land and fertiliser and human effort used to grow that food will be used for something more useful than food thrown away.
The land might be used for something else or as is more likely the case in Nigeria,it will lie fallow. My not spending money on food doesn't guarantee that hospitals or care centres will be built. The human effort and fertiliser might not be used for something else because there would be no demand neccesitating its use.

Seun:
The other way to look at is that the wasted food could have been exported, which boosts national income.  So throwing food away actually harms the economy.
Presuming that there is international demand for the products that will simply replace domestic demand.

Given that the Western world throws the most food away,it must be a miracle that their economy has not been severly damged .Private Consumption drives 70% of the US economy and that is because there is a lot of wasteful consumption.

To the extent that private consumption is not depleting savings and increasing household debt(hardly the case in Nigeria) ,any such consumption is welcome even if it results in wasted food.

You can make your nominations if you want, that is the whole point of the thread.Everyone makes a case for who they think should be the nominees.

If the nominees are not the people I included in the poll,we can get Seun to alter the poll

Nobody can claim that Drogba should be a nominee for Footballer Of The Year apart from biased Chelski fans.
SportsNominations For Footballer Of The Season And Muppet Of The Season by 4Play(op): 1:06am On Apr 10, 2007
The season has almost ended-especially if you are an Arsenal fan-so we might as well start a Nairaland nomination process for footballer of the season.Heck, the Premiership Player's Footballer of The Season has already been voted on as far back as February.

My nominees are-

1:Cristiano Ronaldo-He has everything-pace,shooting,technique,finishing,vision.The boy is the best thing in a Man Utd no 7 shirt since George Best.He has been awesome this season and is the 2nd highest goal scorer in the Premiership.
He did well to overcome the brouhaha over the World Cup

2:Francesco Totti-One of the best players of his generation and one of the most  underrated.Leading scorer in the best league in the World-Serie A .Has been awesome this season

3:Daniel Alves-Sevilla right back, one word describes this kid-awesome.He is the best attacking right back I have seen since Cafu.Liverpool missed the opportunity to sign him last season.

As for Muppets of the Season.I won't waste much time on this assorted collection of football miscreants-

1:Andrei Shevchenko-Is that the real Shevy at Chelski or some fake "Taiwan" version. That boy makes Jeffers(Fox in the Box) look like Di Stefano.

2:Emerson-The man has acheived what many aspire to.Retiring from football while continuing to play.He is awful.Seyi Olofinjana will do a better job in that MADRID midfield

3:Julio Baptista-Complete Asshole!

A company that used to be famed for its innovation seems to wobbling along and diversifying unsuccesfully beyond its core business

Throwing food away helps the economy. It means you are consunming more than you need.Your consumption pays the food seller who pays the farmer

You remember that feeling when your team puts the ball into the back of the net. When that net starts shaking  grin

You probably forgotten the feeling  grin

I told you guys that Fabregas' failure to chip in with a few goals is pathetic .Most of Utd's goals come from midifeld.Rooney has been playing rubbish all season.

You neeed your midfielders to score a few but they are equally as horrible except for Gilberto

If I was President:

Firstly, cut Corporation Tax to 15%.Implement full liberalisation of the power sector and sell of the remaining power utilities.

Sell off every remaining State enterprise.Lower trade tarrifs and push for West African free trade zone.Reduce the size of the civil service.Ensure that this country is one of the easiest places to start a biz.

Fight corruption rigorously and launch a campaign against HIV/AIDS.

Build more industrial estates around the country with first world facilities.Spend more money on education, not teachers salaries but in infastructure.

There is just too much to be done in this country I don't know where to start

Roma won their first away game in Serie A this season, what a time to start getting good away results? sad .

In the history of the CL,there have been 20 occasions where the home team took a 2-1 lead into the 2nd leg of the knockout stage.Of the 20,in 10 the initial home team progressed. That means historically we have a 50% chance.

NB:The last time we overturned a first leg deficit-1984 shocked

I was in hospital-gastric ulcers(had nothing to do with Utd grin)When I left, everything just imploded angry

I didn't get to see the games at Rome or Fratton Park.

I would like to rejoice in Arse's predicament, problem is,they are supposed to get some points for us off Chelski.Arse's goal scoring problems predates the injuries to Henry and RVP.I guess they feel secured for that CL's place, even Bolton failed to win and Arse has got a game in hand.

That Arsenal team will get worse and worse. You ain't seen nothing yet  grin
