@Afam

No cretin,u don't have to read up a book but if u are going to question the validity of the the opinion expressed by International Law Professors as cited in the wikipedia link,u might as well read up to verify that the wikipedia author did not misquote them.

It is up to you to explain precisely why u think u know better than the experts.

Yes wikipedia is a free and open journal,but any books cited therein can be verified

The author was not just expressing his own opinion,he was citing a variety of other sources.

You being the deluded nitwit you are ,have provided no evidence to contradict the opinion expressed in the link

@Afam

We are having debate as to whether the Security Council Resolutions passed on the Arab/ISREALI conflict create binding International Law given that they are passed under CAP VI

Tell me what does a list of Security Council Resolutions ,as contained in your link,tell us as to their legal status?

My link contains excerpts from International text books which u can verify by looking them up

Last time u accussed me of modifying a post now u suggesting that the wikipedia author may have modified his post when u can verify what he wrote by checking up the books he cited

Being the complete and utter cretin u are,u prefer to run around in circles castigating the validity of any info u don't like

Except that your UN link has nothing relevant to say on our debate but you are immensely too ignorant to realise that
Foreign AffairsRe: Tehran- A Fresh Call For Isreal To Be Wiped Out Of The Map! by 4Play(m): 2:04pm On Dec 28, 2006
I t is interesting that those who invoke International law against Isreal have a minimal understanding of International Law .

People still question the legitimacy of Isreal when it is a member of the UN.How on the planet can u get admission into the UN if there are questions as to your legitimacy?

@Afam

It is typical of someone who has lost an argument to try to divert attention from what is being discused .

You have nothing to offer on the subject of Isreal's failure to comply with International law except your much touted UN link.

@Afam

Can u pls tell us which foreign policy decision of the US u agree with?

Your posts are always a cocktail of inane and obtuse knee jerk anti-american rants

Personally, I think the US should restrict their policy in Somalia to that of mediation and supply of humanitarian aid

While Ethiopia has made recent progress against the ICU,ultimately the dispute will have to resolved by dialogue in which the modalities of a power sharing agreement can be worked ut btw the ICU and the transitional govt

@4Play,

I agree you overestimated my powers of comprehension, coming from you it's a compliment, nothing I should lose sleep ove.

My reasoning or lack of it may be worthy of membership of the flat earth society, it does not matter but dancing around words and attempting to make simple things complex seems a weakness rather than a strenght.

I have delibrately not bothered to reply you sly remarks in kind because you are providing ample content to show what you stand for and what you want to push through even in the face of clarity.
No where in this forum have u stated why u think that Cap 6 Resolutions are binding despite the provisions of the UN Charter to the contrary and the opinion of legal experts.

U are incredibly ignorant of the topic u post on but self pride will not let u admit that u may be wrong

Easyy:
I do not believe America has an obligation to intervene in any other Nation's affairs and I'm sure Americans don't see it that way too. I would have expected you to understand that my point is that America is being hypocritical about it's so called unsolicited 'beneficial intervention' in the affairs of other Nations.

America is trying to give itself the responsibilty. No one did!!! No one is critical of American power. I am critical of the current American government's bullying of Islamic Nations and the wasting of human (Islamic) lives as though they were sub human. I also sense a that the development will shift to the persecution of non-whites as well. George Bush's government has a hatred of anyone who is different and it wont be long till they come after people who have different colour of skin(if he is able to complete is attempted decimation of Islamic people and all different cultures)
This is hysterical mumbo jumbo.

If the US is trying to decimate the muslim people,that must explain why they were at the forefront of providing humanitarian relief in the aftermath of the earthquake in Pakistan and the tsunami in Indonesia hence saving thousands of muslims lives,for we all know that the best way to decimate a people, is to help them in the time of need.

It must also explain why the US spends a lot of money in development aid to muslim countries

Since u don't consider that the US has any obligations to help in somalia,that should put to rest any questions as to what the US is doing to help in Somalia

I await with interest ,to see the results of the efforts of the rest of the international community to put an end to the crisis in SOMALIA.We have already seen the lilly livered efforts of the AU monitoring team in Darfur.I wonder why the people of Darfur keep calling for US intervention

@Afam

Perhaps I overestimated your powers of comprehension

What relevance is the UN website link of UN Security Resolutions,such as the one u posted,when the bone of contention between us is the Legal status of those resolutions?

To refresh your memory,the question between us is,whether any such Security Council resolutions create binding international law
Afam:
1. ^ "Additionally it may be noted that the Security Council cannot adopt binding decisions under Chapter VI of the Charter" (De Hoogh, Andre. Obligations Erga Omnes and International Crimes, Martinus Nijhoff Publishers, Jan 1, 1996, p. 371).

5. ^ "Under Chapter VI, the Security Council may only make recommendations but not binding decisions on United Nations members". (Wallace-Bruce, Nii Lante. The Settlement of International Disputes, Martinus Nijhoff Publishers, Jan 1, 1998, pp. 47-4 ).
The above quotes are relevant to our debate.U can easily find them in the pages of the textbooks mentioned above to satisfy you that they were not added by the author of the wikipedia post.

i told u earlier that resolutions on the Isreali/Arab conflict were almost exclusively under Cap 6 (including Resolution 478 which began the wikipedia post) and as such they were not binding, u said that was contrary to "established facts".

The question is not whether there exists SECURITY Council Resolutions on the conflict, the question is are they binding given the fact that they are made under Cap 6 of the UN Charter?

Your reasoning or the lack of it is worthy of membership of the flat earth society
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by 4Play(m): 2:55pm On Dec 27, 2006
It is not my fault that Arsenal had to depend on lasagne poisoining to qualify for the Champions League

At the moment u cannot talk of Arsenal in the same breadth with man Utd,we are title contenders,u are 4th place contenders
Foreign AffairsRe: Tehran- A Fresh Call For Isreal To Be Wiped Out Of The Map! by 4Play(m): 2:42pm On Dec 27, 2006
@Afam

Since i posted the link ,u are the only person still foolhardedly claiming that Cap 6 Resolutions are binding

U remind me of the members of the flat earth society,no matter the evidence presented before them,they still insist the earth is flat

Perhaps u should read the Cap VI and VII of the UN Charter for yourself,knowing u however,u will read it,shake your head and proclaim that u disagree with it

UN Charter stipulates that only non binding recommendations can be made under Cap 6,but hey what authority does the UN Charter have compared to your authority to dismiss decades of legal principles .

Perhaps people should stop looking at the UN Charter for guidance on International Law and start reading your posts on Nairaland

@loverbuoy

I think u will find that the US is the single largest donor to Somalia-25
percent of humanitarian aid to Somalia comes from the US

Get real,America is the dominant power in NATO,and and went into kosovo and Bosnia of their own accord.The Americans even had to cajole some other reluctant NATO members like France for the Kosovo campaign .US spending on these campaigns ran into the tens of billion dollars.

the idea that the US went in simply because they were part of NATO is preposterous

The question still remains ,what are other countries doing to end the Somalian problem-Taking in refugees and talking about the it will not solve the problem.It remains to be seen what the rest of humanity canl do to end this conflict without US help

Foreign AffairsRe: War Is Not A Solution For Terrorism by 4Play(m): 10:31pm On Dec 26, 2006
When a group of people,in the name of religion , embark on a mission to use terror to actualise their aims,it is inevitable they will be met with a military response.Is the US supposed to negotiate with Al Qaeda and their ilk?

Since Bin laden launched his 9 11 attacks , purpotedly to strike against US policies in the Middle East,it has led to greater US troop prescence in the Middle east and the muslim world in general.
