I didn't say I was dating a Nigerian man. I'd rather not put myself in the position where I'm likely to be dating a misogynist to be fair.

99% of the Nigerian men I meet ask 'can you cook?' before they even know anything about you. They should know how to cook for themselves too.

You're only stressed because I'm speaking facts.
if you are not satisfied with wetin dey market stay single.

I wouldn't have any excuse. I will do 100% of the housework of the man earns 100% of the income, but often that its not the case.

Would you disagree?
Few times.... Its not d case!!!!

So you think its emasculating to think that a woman is smarter and has a better paid job than you?

I get that to an extent, but some men don't even bother to want to get a job or achieve more, but still expect the wife to do everything including work.

But when you see 'Nigerian women are useless' all over this forum, you'll be keke'ing along with them though, abi?
So generalizing seems like a good thing to you abi?
I want to also believe you are this overly confident when having physical interactions.
I can't live in same house with you, it's either I always walk away or we do a duel physical combat.

Must of the time it's men who lose their job and still expect the same level of authority.

Some men can be very hard headed.

You will not pay attention now and listen to him.
Men are scared of financially bouyant women regardless of their character, it's very intimidating and sometimes the man suffers inferiority.

Authority should not come by what a man provides..
It should come naturally...
There's this thing called down time in life,, could happen to anyone.... Ur respect for ur man determine on what is bought to d table??

Gosh!! you ought to be a demon.
So you mean money determines whom garners the higher authority in a home.
So this is your main reason for this thread, my sister forget marriage, you can't submit to a man.

I get that sometimes people are down sometimes, but the same must be taken into account for women.

My respect for men doesn't depend on money. It has to do a lot with their integrity however.

I have seen so many men take their wives to school, bought them cars, houses nd open business without stress all for love.....

I haven't seen reverse nd even if it happens which i haven't seen,, WITH MINUS PEACE OF MIND...

I knew it. That's all I wanted to hear. Men are scared of women who can hold their own because they have nothing else to provide. Women will always be able to find a better man, but men have to work really hard to just get the number of one woman.

No that's not what I'm saying, but quite a few people in this thread are saying, the woman can't earn more than the man because the man then won't feel superior.

It doesn't matter to me. But all I'm saying is if a woman is earning more, surely she should have more of a say what happens with the household income.

I've seen the reverse plenty of times. You can't just generalise just because what you have seen.

A Kingdom is on a famine & the King A is broke, then a neighbouring King B offers to help the Kingdom of his Ally. Then all of a sudden King B now determines what happens in Kingdom of King A because the climate hasn't been in their favour for sometime.
Tell me if this is proper?
What would do if you are King A?

I once told you to forget about Nigerian men, forget about the strong & sweet dick, stick to the Westerners that share the ideologies with you.
Women do not head a home in Africa, it's forbidden.
The major thing men value in a relationship is respect, if it can be provided easily be the women then we would see queens everywhere.

I would listen to King B, because they are the ones helping King A. How can you be accepting help from King B, but still demanding how things are done? You better take the help you can get if you say yes to accepting the help. You find very few true philanthropists.

What do you mean by nigerian men do more?

Just because a woman doesn't agree with you, it doesn't mean she's filled with hate.

Men should respect women too.

But let's be real, you don't really earn a lot.

If I want something done a certain way. I would do it myself. I wouldn't tell someone else to do it just so a can have a reason to chastise them if they do it wrong.

Also it wouldn't be must of the housework, would it? It would be the thing that you like having done a particular way.
U dont know if i earn alot so dont conclude.... Not all male nairalanders are broke..some might have done well for thermselves nd not create a thread about it.... This is d first time am having a conversation on nairaland this year cos ur topic is aaaarrrhhhh....

For me... My woman must b good in cooking cos dats d only thing i see her doing at home nd i will not say she useless nd create a thread on nairaland for it...... i would make happy in many ways possible same with many men.... So life go balance

All I see here is you seeking relevance and importance, your home shouldn't be a battlefield or a career.
Let me tell you this, In Nigeria our women are placed on high value without them fighting for it.
We spend efforts toasting them & making them feel Superfly, that's one reason when they get to the west you hear them complain about boredom & loneliness & too much stress because the Westerners don't care about these things.
An Average girl gets a minimum of 5 guys seeking her attention everyday unless she's way too old.
In Africa we do almost all the hustling for our woman.

That is true not all of them are broke. I didn't say they were.

My thread is making you think about the toxic masculinity that exists? Well I'm glad I could be of help.

I agree, balance is very necessary.

100% Nigerian. I am aware of how to question things, not just do things because 'that's the way they've always been done'.

If people have that mentality, how will we grow?

"HappyCreative" if you get married to an African/Nigerian then you would know that money isn't everything & women actually enjoy life to the fullest while doing little or nothing.

Have you heard of the Romans or Greeks changing the way things has always been done in their society, some values cannot be changed, sometimes too knowledge without wisdom isn't valuable.
