If its a private school, parents are the one that dictate what they want to see on their kids report card.
In some instance self if you notice the kid performed below average, you need to inform the parent b4 you record it. Yes, it's that bad.
Private school is profit-oriented biz and parents change school for the lamest reasons.
Another thing, education is all about motivation, you do not discourage a learner even if you feel he is underperforming. Choose your words diplomatically. You'll convey your msg but in a professional manner.
A kid that is lazy, you can say, " He needs to be encouraged to put in more efforts."

Private schools are the proprietors’ business and no one will stand watching and allow his business to be spoilt by a silly person.

The school has principal and proprietor. If any student is rude or disrespectful, why not reporting the student to the proprietor or teacher who will find a way of reaching out to the parent?

This kinda silly comment can have a way of affecting the students’ future if one is not careful.
Which employer will see this kind of report card later in the future and employ the child having such comment by his/her class teacher?

For good measure, wisdom is the principal thing.
for example.
He is not active in class could be - "He could do with participating more in class"
She keeps gang in the school could be - "I will suggest the company she keeps is vetted" and so on.
He is a truant - " He needs to improve his attendance in class"

My point is we basically said the same thing but my choice of words were chosen carefully. I mentioned where they need to improve on rather than calling them names.

my own report card is even worst than this when i was in SS2, my class teacher wrote bad comment on my report card just because i always skip maths, agric and biology class, my father scolded me and i turn a new leaf... You dont cover student just to seek the favour of the parent. Thats nonsense.

If a student stole the teacher’s handset, the best way to let the parent be aware is through summoning the parents to the school or sending the message to the parents to get them informed. Not through the report card

If any Teacher has any resentment for a student, it is better for the teacher to make a comment on the report card solely on academic performance of the student and leave the personality alone.

My form master those days wrote "He is a very stubborn student, prone to cultism.fit to be watched closely" on ny result sheet even though i took 1st position. My Dad was alive then and wanted to confront the form master but my Mom begged him not to as that.

Best thing is to visit your ward’s school occasionally to ask about his/her comportment from the class teacher and not this nonsense on the report card

A potential employer has nothing to do with your primary or secondary school examination results and comments. All they need is your Certificate.

Parents of nowadays are the major problems why we have a alot of disrespectful kids out there.

It was the comment my class teacher made on my result while in SS2 that changed my orientation and helped reset my brain.

She wrote " He is a good Student but moves with bad friends". This comment made me to change my circle of friends in SS3 and I am forever grateful to her till this day.

There are better ways of telling parents about their child's behavior instead of writing it in the report card.

No matter how bad a child is, there is a positive side of him/her. Find that positive side and put it in the report card.

Has the teacher made any written complaints about the children to their parents and head of school?


The Head of the School should have checked the comments before the report cards were sents to the parents.

The school ought to have carefully and professionally worded templates of about 20 to 40 comments that teachers could used.

It is obvious that the school owners and head of school did not train and mentor their teachers.
