Politics › Re: Obaseki: Why I Am Opposed To Direct Primary by 7lives: 3:42pm On May 25, 2020
DTaj:
The daft, ungrateful Obaseki was in Lagos (as CEO of Afrinvest) when this same Oshiomhole invited him into government and made him DG of the Edo State Economic Management Team; and despite the huge resistance of his longstanding political friends and associates (and some of them abandoned Oshiomhole because of Obaseki), he did EVERYTHING to have Obaseki elected as Governor!

I have a friend in Edo State public service hierarchy who told me that Obaseki was so powerful under Oshiomhole that he practically sidestepped the Deputy Governor, Pius Odubu. Yet, this same Obaseki has insulted Oshiomhole to the heavens and back. He has also allowed nonentities like Osagie and other fools to continue to insult Oshiomhole every day.

Some people say Oshiomhole should forgive Obaseki. How? The father (Oshiomhole) had long kept quiet, yet, the son (Obaseki) mounts the podium personally and through his appointees and daft minions (such as Oyegun) to insult the father EVERYDAY! Yet, you want forgiveness! Now, he has gone, with his tails by his legs, to beg Tinubu to help him in his already failed plot. I dey laugh!

I do not care whatever caused the rift between those two; however, I dislike UNGRATEFUL PEOPLE! Obaseki should start packing his bags, as he returns to Lagos soon. He should ask Ambode for the handout on ‘political treachery and ingratitude’.

And talking about Covid-19 and APC primaries; Obaseki is just being clever by half! A direct primary will NOT involve putting 400,000 people in one location. That was a thoughtless lie! Direct primaries are done at Local Government headquarters of political parties. The Edo direct primaries can be successfully done through social distancing and wearing of face mask at each LG secretariat of APC.

Now, to even stretch Obaseki’s dumb reason further, would he ask INEC to conduct indirect election in September? Won’t Edo people still gather in their polling booths to vote amidst Covid-19huh

Obaseki, you are already gone. Start planning your retirement back to Lagos, Ikoyi precisely!
Wow.

Meaning the general election will also be indirect?
While not trying to make case for godfatherism but the lesson here is that, don't destroy the ladder that lift you up, you may need it to come down.
Simple wisdom would have enable this man to manage whatever was and is the difference between Oshiomole and himself. Fashola did it with Tinubu and was able to finish his second term, they also try stopping him from being appointed as a minister but he also managed the situation.
I am against Obaseki's approach, beside God Oshiomole was reason he is governor today. He should have a reason to be grateful and not plotting national emberrashment for his benefactor.
My long story is; Obaseki is not a wise person. Those hailing him today will stone him once he is out of power. This is Nigeria!

Exactly!!! Having 6000 plus delegate gather in one place is likely to pose more danger to the spread of the virus than having less than 200 (in some units) card carrying members gather in one place and vote.

Finally, a sensible post.
Only God knows what happened to Obaseki's brain, he thinks everyone is an idiot like him.

@7lives The way my grandpa take slaughtered Ijaws and Mahins for eyin osa at Epe, till tomorrow people still fear him in that Ibeju Lekki Epe axis.
elucidate on the above
Its true o, the Ijaws and Mahins we're coming to raid Epe water side and Epe Lagos in those days.
Sacking villages in the area, killing and capturing people as slaves, until they met their Waterloo in Balogun Agoro Iposun, who incidentally was also the Balogun to King Kosoko of Lagos.
He was with King Kosoko in Lagos, before the British colonialists forcefully exiled Kosoko to Epe.
Balogun Agoro met Epe people in pains having just lost a battle to these Marauders.
So he set up his own watch everywhere on the waters in Epe.
I don't want to sound mean, there is a place called ITEBU at eyin osa in Ibeju Lekki, this is where most of these Invaders were drowned.
The few that survived fled an never come back, some of the mountains and walls of sands used as defense shields, are still in his personal village in Epe, his presence became a reality check for the Invaders, so all of them keep off.
His relics of wars are in his palace at Oke Iposun in Epe.

despite your rumblings and forcely classifying them as yorubas, the undeniable facts still remains that they are Ijaw and that can never change even with your yorubanized mission. about names and dressing, oga don't deceive yourself. if you're closer to the Ijaws, you would know that Ijaws are not tribalistic with name-given. even in Nigeria, we are the only tribe with most foreign names. They can give any name that pleases them, it has nothing to do with being converted or that. in Rivers, we have Ijaws bearing Igboic names. that does not mean dey av been igbonized. see there is one prominent man called Barister Ajuwa in Ondo state, He's seemingly bearing a Yoruba name, but he speaks Ijaw eloquently than most ijaws in Delta state. Karinto is an Ijaw High life Musician from Ondo state, I have heard so many of his songs, and I can tell you, nothing is missing as Ijaw in them. oh as for the names, I forgot, even my Surname 'Afrifa' is not an Ijaw name but a Ghanaian name. I'm bearing it in all my documents. does that make me a ghanian? about the dressings, ask Tacha who is Ijaw but dresses like Ibo. ooh too far, ask Aunty Bisola who bears Yoruba name but Ijaw.
Cut the long story short, the Ijaws of Ondo state are migrants, they can as well relocate to Bayelsa.

Awori: Majority of Island and Mainland including parts of Badagry

Egun: Badagry

Man on this forum that tries to justified what was done to this pakana people.
Their own na to suppress, repress, subdue and subjugate.
Now you understand why the people of Ore battled them to a stand still.
The opression started even before the civil war, this was why professor Sam Aluko, who was employed by Ojukwu as a personal adviser, advised Ojukwu to win the trust of his neighbors before the declaration of Biafra or else his mission will fail.
The leaders that were later rounded up, were the same people who welcome Victor Banjo and the Biafran troops under his command, to SS.
Banjo wrote in his letters to his wife, that he and his troops captured the current land mass under SS, without firing a single bullet.
Banjo said having explained to them that these leaders shall be allowed to be in charge of their people in the new country, they co operated and joined Biafra.
This was a strategy suggested by Victor Banjo, to Ojukwu, this is the only way to make the people feel at ease and co operate with the Biafran authority, or else they will sell out if their existence is threatened.
But while at Ore, begging Obj for passage into SW, the Biafran army stationed in SS, begins to assault the people of SS.
And they cry genocide as if they were handing out soft drinks and cakes during the war.

na today we bigin see "carpet crossing" in Nigerian politics?

Anyways - looking at this from another angle ..... I see history repeating itself

Some of you guys fail to look back to the Femi Agbalajobi vs. Dapo Sarumi fight for the SDP ticket in Lagos (1991) Gubernatorial elections

Lagos was an SDP state - but when these 2 guys made the primary process so dirty - Sir Michael Otedola of the NRC became a safer choice for Lagosians. Not even the 11th hour presentation of Prince Yomi Edu could save the SDP in Lagos. My thing is Obaseki should let the system play out - Never panic - IF Osho wants to give the ticket to POI - let him do it, but have a backup plan to run on another platform - Always have a plan B so you don't disqualify yourself by not having the option to run with another party and the time to register ran out - this OPTION must be done ASAP!!!

The way Osho is running this fight with Obaseki is not even because he wants APC to win in Edo. Osho will feel vindicated and victorious IF Obaseki loses to anyone - as long as He (Obaseki) is defeated. Maybe he is planning the SARUMI vs AGBALAJOBI mayhem in Edo - so that when the primary becomes too dirty - the people will then vote for any donkey or riff raff presented by the PDP (who may be secretly sponsored by Osho too OR some invisible potential god father) THIS IS WHY OBASEKI SHOULD LET OSHO DO WHATEVER HE LIKES - IF POI WINS THE PRIMARIES- OBASEKI SHOULD IMMEDIATELY SWITCH TO ANOTHER PARTY AND LET US SEE HOW POI WILL WIN - I guess Osho has forgotten what "sympathy votes for the underdog" means in politics. WHEN PEOPLE SEE THAT YOU ARE UNFAIRLY TREATED - THEY TEND TO GRAVITATE TO YOU MORE THAN THE PERSON CHOSEN BY THE ESTABLISHMENT, (FACT) - this is why the masses gravitated to Osho in his bid to topple Annenih. This is what will destroy Osho's political future too in Edo - playing God

OSAGIE IZE IYAMU HAS ENOUGH BAGGAGE OF CORRUPTION AND ABUSE OF POWER FROM HIS INVOLVEMENT IN LUCKY IGBINEDION ADMINISTRATION TO NAIL HIM -

YOU DO NOT NEED PARTY TO WIN AN ELECTION WHEN YOU ARE POPULAR - GO ASK OGBORU IN DELTA STATE - HE COULDN'T WIN EVEN AS THE APC PARTY FLAG BEARER - OBASEKI IS POPULAR IN EDO STATE - HE HAS NAME RECOGNITION - APC NEEDS HIM MORE THAN HE NEEDS APC!!!
Why not PDP, anyway ati aja, ati ejo eran jije.

I'm asking you to go and research on the subject of tribalism in Nigeria. If you did, you'll change ur mind about awolowo starting tribalism.
Besides the regional system of govt itself was built on a recognition of tribal differences. So there was no time the colonialists thought Nigeria should be one entity. Awolowo understood that. He was not looking for Yoruba to become the supreme tribe in Nigeria but wanted us to be able to determine our destiny by ourselves. Go and research what he said about Nigeria compared to what Bello or Azikiwe said.

Its not a crime for a man to be loyal to his tribe and work for their interest. But when that man incites hatred for another tribe as a way of garnering political power that is pure evil. You can protect and work for your tribe without attacking others and creating zombies to hate others also. What makes Awo's own worse is that after saying how bad igbos were for 3 decades he wanted to enter into an alliance with them to checkmate the north. So what happened? The igbos suddenly became angels in his eyes because he finally saw the real threat? Few years later he entered an alliance with the north when it was convenient for his ambition.

Awo, Zik and Bello were not saints and had their flaws. Awo's flaw was the tribalism he created to help his political career
