Dangote cement yields billions for the Federal Government but Cement is the costliest building.material in Nigeria whereas Cement is the cheapest material in the rest of the world. The so-called common man is not smiling because of Dangote in Nigeria.Whe4e is the ₦1000cement Dangote himself announced when he got GCON from GEJ?
It’s most certainly NOT, but nonetheless...
How much do you think Nigerians would be paying for imported cement today?

Not only has the the likes of Dangote (and BUA) transformed Nigeria from reportedly the world’s second-largest IMPORTER of cement (only behind the US) to a net exporter, saving the Nigerian economy billions of scarce dollars, earning some forex for Nigeria, and creating THOUSANDS OF JOBS IN NIGERIA FOR NIGERIANS, but Dangote is the FIRST (and probably remains the only) producer of 52.5R grade cement in Africa, which is the highest grade globally, and in the process dragged foreign multinational cement producers in Nigeria (Lafarge, Holcim and Blue Circle, etc.) to modernize their facilities and upgrade their products from the 32.5R grade they had been foisting on Nigerian consumers since the 1960s to 42.5R. Blue Circle (now part of HolcimLafarge) did not bother to rehabilitate or upgrade its 1960s-era Shagamu and Ewekoro plants, until Dangote built its state-of-the-art Obajana plant.

Reference:
I just do not understand what all the noise they make is about.
There is no product on earth that does not have industry leaders.

The phone handset business is basically a duopoly between Samsung and Apple. No one complains.
The automobile industry has Toyota on top for three decades now with Hyundai displacing Volkswagen recently in second.
Entertainment has been dominated by Hollywood since the 50's.
CocaCola is the market leader globally and if you arrive an airport you either fly a Boeing or an Airbus with Bombardier in third. Who is complaining.

Only here in Nigeria government incentives to big industry and market leaders is vile. Say that to GE or General Motors or United Airlines that receive all manner of US government help in hard times to remain afloat and in the lead.

We need big players who are interested in industrialisation and have an eye to global dominance for this country to develop and be taken seriously in the comity of nations. This corner shop, rat race mentality will do us no good.

Burna boy just rose to global fame and it speaks for Nigeria in the entertainment industry. Who will question his dominance but when an industrialist does same folks begin to show poor, sentimental judgement.
Sadly, it’s the epitome of a POVERTY MENTALITY...
Many Nigerians detest the successful (from Dangote to Burna), and worship failures (usually politicians).

Another elephant in the room is of course ethnicity...
Many believe that people from Dangote’s part of Nigeria cannot be successful without cheating. SMH

98 billion naira. This man represents everything that's against good economic models. He's the Rockefeller of Nigeria that the American government feared and broke down his monopolistic tendencies.
If Dangote was operating in Europe, Asia or America. He wouldn't dear do this nonsense he's doing in Nigeria over there. He would have been long arrested over there and his assets forfeited for economic malpractices
grin grin grin
grin grin grin

Tragicomedy...

Thanks to the likes of Dangote (as well as BUA), Nigeria has transformed from reportedly the world’s second-largest IMPORTER of cement (only behind the US) to an EXPORTER, saving the Nigerian economy billions of scarce dollars, earning some forex for Nigeria, and creating THOUSANDS OF JOBS IN NIGERIA FOR NIGERIANS, in the generating wealth, livelihoods and attendant tax revenues (corporate taxes and income taxes from those jobs) for the government to invest in schools, hospitals, and other public services.

Yes! Dangote should be locked up immediately, and his assets “forfeited” to politicians who can’t run government refineries. SMH

as dangote cement is to pay this tax, other cement companies could be paying this also more revenues will be generated, but we can’t find other cement companies only dangote, which is quite expensive being the only man in the game.

That is the result of the monopoly he is enjoying so he should pay gladly.

I can't imagine a country of 400,0000,000 (million) people allowing one man to enjoy this kind of monopoly, you can't find this anywhere in the world.
Onepeople:
you need to correct yourself, I don't think u understand the meaning of monopoly, Dangote is running a monopoly business in Nigeria, which is dangerous for the economic survival of the people, I have not seen or read that any country of the world give monopoly to individuals to have exclusive rights in the supply of a particular product.
So we now have a population of 400 million?
Folks pulling “alternative facts” out their behind. grin

Cement: Lafarge (the world’s biggest producer, operating in Nigeria since the 1950s/60s); BUA Cement; Ibeto; etc.

Petrochemicals: Indorama (one of the world’s biggest multinational producers); Warri Petrochemicals; Kaduna Petrochemicals; etc.
Fertilizer: Notore (with multinational investors such as the IFC and Orascom); Kaduna Superphosphate; etc.

Well done!
That’s how you GROW an economy and country - create jobs, and tax revenue for the state to invest in schools, hospitals, etc.

But here on the Nairaland they’ll tell you that Dangote is building a $12-15 billion refinery and petrochemicals complex so that he can become a forex black marketeer? Exactly the sort of functional illiteracy that pervades Nigerian public space and commentary.

comprehension is a major problem with people who assume they understand Grammar.
I bet you read the part he said, she asked for it,will you call giving a begger 50 naira a gift? Since you can afford it? Will you not go back and get your 50 naira back when you give it to someone who claims to be blind and you find out he has a panoramic view in his eyes? Is that not obtaining by trick? 419.

Please let's stop this egocentric thing just to satisfy the opposite sex,

I purely understand the part of a gift is a gift u said.. Once uv gift someone something don't expect anything in return, but in this case the guy was expecting something in return and the girl renegade on their "contract". She breeched the agreement and he made his recovery nothing wrong
grin cheesy grin

When you find yourself in a hole, quit digging....

Of course, giving N50 to a “blind” (even one pretending to be “crippled” or the so-called “corporate” ones one sees these days) is a GIFT. Nobody has ever been imprisoned or suffered any penalty for not giving a beggar money. In fact, going by how stingy you are sounding here, I am reasonably certain that you have ignore your share of beggars on the streets. And, heck no, if the beggar suddenly starts seeing or running, I would NEVER EVER run after them for the N50 that I gifted them - because I ONLY GIVE WHAT I CAN AFFORD TO GIVE!!

Anyway, I see that you are moving into another area and making this effectively into a “contract” between a “John” (that is, a prostitute’s client) and his prostitute, but that’s entirely BASED ON ASSUMPTIONS PULLED OUT OF THE AIR, because the OP could not have been clearer that they were ALREADY “dating for close to two months”. Accordingly, the phone was NEVER a condition (or consideration, to use the language of legal contracts) for a relationship. The mugu (to use your own words) foolishly made a “gift” that HE COULDN’T AFFORD TO GIVE!

PS: Btw, pretending to make a “gift” when really expecting something in return is the real 419.

This question keeps ringing in my head after a girl am dating for close to two months stopped picking my calls and didn't reply my text even going as far as blocking my number with the phone I gave her. And the reason why I gave her the phone was because she's complaining that her exs' are still disturbing her and her phone doesn't have the block option.
Glory is her name and she is from Delta, and we never had a quarrel neither did we fought.
Well I've taken back my phone though it was a hard thing for me cos I was hoping that she will come back to her senses....

Pls has anyone experienced this, you dated a girl and got her a phone and after 2 days she stopped picking ur calls neither will she reply your text,,,,
Is that a sign of multi personal disorder?

After work today, I and few friends decided to do TGIF at the shrine(Fela Shrine), nothing really spectacular about it but we just needed somewhere/ something different from our movies, clubbing and the modern settings.

While we were having our different talks, a very pretty lady walked up to us and asked to see a colleague of mine(a guy). They went afar and when he got back, we asked to know what transpired. He actually didn't want to open up but we're all Gees (Lols).

So he told us the Lady wooed him(like seriously) and with all sincerity, he already liked her for that. I remembered walking up to a guy back then in school to tell him he was cute. But in all sincerity I don't think I have that boldness anymore.

Another (a guy) said he consider it more, preferable and he wished it was immensely more common. And my gee concluded that if the lady is serious about it, he would date her and respect her more.

Honestly, I admired the lady's courage and I think you should go for whatever makes you happy after all, .most guys ends up been turned down, so as a lady also be prepared to handle rejection too.
GOOD FOR HER!

Metrix147:
Leader of APC in Abia state, Sen. Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu in what appears to be a demonstration of his closeness to the people of the state on Friday held Aba residents spellbound when he thrilled them with the cultural Ohafia war dance to their amazement.

ABN TV reports that the Senate Chief Whip was in Aba in continuation of the ongoing campaign of APC in the upcoming Aba North/South bye-election.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0W9rhy_WeI0
Senator Kalu at the event promised that the APC will facilitate the construction of no fewer than 10 roads if the party's candidate in the election, Hon. Mascot Uzor Kalu is elected.

According to the former Abia governor, the party will replicate the success story that characterised his tenure as governor when most of the roads in Aba were constructed.

He took a swipe at the PDP government that succeeded him in the state, accusing them of failure to maintain the roads or construct new ones, attributing it to why road infrastructure is in decay in the commercial city.

He however gave them hope, assuring them that the APC leadership is poised to re-writing the wrongs of the PDP in Aba North/South federal constituency.

The APC leader urged the federal constituency to massively vote for the candidate of APC in the election, Hon. Mascot Uzor Kalu, assuring them that he will bring dividends of democracy the same way APC representatives in Abia North have converted their constituencies to construction sites.

Hon. Mascot Uzor Kalu will on March 27, 2021 square it up with the candidate of PDP, Mr. Ebisike and APGA candidate, Mr. Destiny Akara Nwagwu.

All the candidates have since commenced their campaigns.

The seat became vacant following the death of Hon. Ossy Prestige (APGA) the former Aba North/South federal constituency representative in a German hospital earlier this year.
