adekalumichael: That is so nice of him. Unlike some other lecturers who are ready to even fail you for disturbing the class with a baby. GREAT it worked out for dude, and that not only the lecturer but obviously his fellow students as well were understanding, but let’s be real he frankly should NOT have brought a crying (or cryable) baby to class. |

Originakalokalo: Have you seen a dead body before?
I have seen an eight month pregnant woman who died... She was hard, pale and disgusting.
She looked looked solid and the process of life in her womb stopped the moment she died.
In the grave the whole thing in her womb will burst open and everywhere will be filled with stench of bodies both of hers and the child.
We should not live by the body... It is nothing.
The only thing that makes a body shine is the breath of life that is in it.
This breath of life can be taken away anytime by God without you asking questions.
God is to be obeyed and served.
This body is nothing. By the same tortured logic, stop using/developing your brain because it was rot after you die. SMDH |

davodyguy: This is the truth.
The signs were clear in the fall of 2014, that we would be in recession. Whether it was Jonathan or Atiku that won 2015, what happened in 2016 was inevitable.
Buhari may be less educated, but the fact that he would not steal, gives some confidence that our tomorrow would be better. It's just the killings and violence that worries me, which may be instigated to bring him down.
PDP government was so corrupt that I benefitted indirectly from it and I now regret. Even if recession was inevitable, Buhari’s economic illiteracy and initial inertia WORSEN, DEEPENED AND PROLONGED Nigeria’s recession! The clumsy initial attempt at administratively controlling exchange rates (which included preventing foreign companies from buying dollars to remit their Naira earnings and dividends) resulted a stampede by foreign investors (both direct and portfolio) to exit the Nigerian market (with several relocating to Ghana) and so much reputational damage that Nigeria is yet to recover from. Meanwhile, his government keeps parroting the economic snake oil of doing more with less when it has approximately doubled Nigeria’s debt in about 3 years, resulting in the economic stupidity of a current debt service-to-revenue of almost 67% (even resulting in the absurdity of borrowing to service debts). In other words, for every Naira that the Buhari federal government takes in, it pays out almost 67 kobo (in interest, bond yields and sundry other charges) to service it debts, leaving a mere 33 kobo out of every Naira for both recurrent expenditures (including salaries and other recurring governmental obligations, apart from debt service payments) and for capital expenditures - and since capital expenditure estimates are merely about 30 of the federal budget, that means that the Buhari government allocates only about 11 kobo of every Naira that it takes in to capital investment and expenditure, which lies at the heart and core of economic development! These are some of the very basic reasons that economic recovery in Nigeria remains POOR with GDP growth at an anemic 1.9% while estimated population growth is about 3.2% (in effect, a substantive economic health recession), leading Nigeria to reportedly become the World’s Capital of Extreme Poverty under Mr. Buhari (and reportedly still worsening). PS: Btw, it is laughable to believe that anyone that has Bola Tinubu in his inner circle is earnest about fighting corruption. SMH . |
Investment › Re: Nigeria Bonds Rise After Buhari Presidential Election Win by 9jaRealist: 7:51am On Feb 28, 2019 |
Economic illiteracy abounds. Bonds are DEBT and when the coupon (or yield) on your bonds rise, it means that the cost of servicing your debt just rose higher (and that usually signifies that investors perceive you as a HIGHER risk). It’s good news for investors in the bond but BAD NEWS FOR NIGERIA! SMH |

Not to talk about those running after an anonymous moniker on an anonymous forum. And quoting laws to justify why they should be allowed to stalk. Smh Self esteem must be down the drain.

Jayson1: It's fun seeing girls play and feel relaxed, Oh yes it is....
But the sad thing is that one of them might be menstruating and the popular Ewa goyin seller might just use this same water to wash plates for loyal customers. One of biggest problems in Nigeria is elevating shadows over substance. Even if these ladies did not swim in this water or even if nobody is menstruating, your so-called “popular Ewa goyin seller” should never use rain water to wash plates which are used to serve human beings. That’s the REAL lesson that should be emphasized, not ragging on poor ladies trying to make lemonade out of the lemons of life. |

Rest abeg. With your passive aggression and your snide shade. Who is fighting with you? Why do you feel anyone is fighting
I saw where you said you shared my sentiment. Same way I saw where you acted as if me telling you what I felt about someone learning about rape past a certain age all of a sudden meant that I didn't believe that learning education is life long and i didn't believe nobody is too old to learn when I was talking about a specific case.

I only said that for basic life lessons, at a certain age. Everyone knows (in this case relating to rape) what's right and what's wrong.

theoldpretender: Yo.
I am approaching this from the perspective of someone who has, in his day job, seen both sides of the fence...raped women and in a few cases women who cry rape.(Medical field)
Girls get raped. Some get forced into doing this.
Now I have been around longer than you have...and I grew up in a university environment. Stuff like this has happened before. Young girl gets invited to a party, drink gets spiked...and before she knows what is happening the deed has been done.
And the effects last a lifetime.
I don't know your story. But I can guess you were either falsely accused, or you were turned down by some babe who hooked up with a richer guy. And your heart got crushed...and now every girl who gets raped is a liar in your eyes.
Guy...someday you are going to get married. And have kids. They may be girls. Do you want your kids growing up with a dad who hates them because of their gender? If your daughter was raped...would you call her a liar?
You should leave that bitterness behind. We all get rejected. Some of us move on. You haven't. Don't be another Eliot Rodgers. Restoring my faith in Nairaland. |
Crime › Re: I Was Gang-raped By 8 Students, Blackmailed, Unilag Student Tells Court by 9jaRealist: 8:57pm On Feb 26, 2019 |
IdreamOfUnicorn: Rape is unlike any other crime and in our failure to combat it effectively, we as a society have thoroughly let down our women. In no other crime is the perpetrator allowed to retain the weapon of the crime, then why is a rapist allowed to retain his penis when he has used it as a weapon in a crime? A man who has raped once is likely to do it again if given the chance because he has no moral or emotional barriers that stop him. The only true deterrent to rape is to take away that sense of entitlement and power that drives the rapist. Cruel and barbaric as it sounds, a truly safe environment for women can only be created when no man would dare to violate her. No doubt re-education and sensitivity are vital in this regard, but they will take a long time to take root. Punishment like castration will go a long way in de-incentivising and deterring rape. Desperate times call for desperate measures, and maybe it is time for this radical solution to be tried out to correct the physical imbalance and wipe out the tears, fears, and exploitation of the fairer sex. Preach! At the very least, there should be legal “castration” via a Sex Offenders’ Registry that brands them for as long as possible (if not for life). |
