obynzo: In saner climes in Africa they build bridges with no noise. Lagos should be in the mould of Nairobi, Casablanca, Kigali and Johannesburg. It is the worst form of disservice to Lagos to compare with other states because Lagos enjoyed heavy investment when it was the Capital of Nigeria. That being said even with all this mumbo jamboree for an ordinary 500m bridge Lagos is still far behind the likes of Abidjan and Dakar, it is an insult to the likes of Casablanca and Nairobi to be compared with Lagos. Politicians EVERYWHERE (not just in Africa) flag off projects… Unless you think that “flagging off” and “commissioning” are Yoruba or Nigerian terms! Meanwhile, Lagos will certainly LOOK (it is) better than Kigali, Joburg, Abidjan, etc…. If not for the millions of Nigerian (and foreign) IMMIGRANTS who VOTE with their feet for Lagos! *Left out Nairobi from your litany… As it houses the Africa’s largest slum (Kibera)! EKO O NI BAJE! Lagos leads, others struggle to follow!> |

Treasure17: Be there linking bridges upandan. Why the tinubu hashtag though? Na him won link the bridge? Tinubu is CHIEF CONCIEVER… Seems he actually built little or NOTHING himself*
Apparently his job was to CONCEIVE things… And then it takes 20+ years for others to build them.
Fourth Mainland Bridge and Lekki Airport are next… He CONCEIVED them 23 year ago, and not a brick laid yet.
So if we elect Tinubu president in 2023… Our children will start to see the benefits in 2045! > *To be fair, Tinubu spent N25b in 1999 naira… To rebuild the roads in the Lagos Island CBD! > |

The central bank in a developing country is a developmental institution… It shouldn’t act like the Fed or Bank of England, limiting itself only to setting rates and broad monetary policy.
We can disagree with the efficacy of particular CBN policies… But not with the general concept of it as a developmental institution.> PS: Of course this doesn’t mean that the CBN Gov should be acting as part of the administration, which Emefiele often does. > |
