Gwan2: I’ve been to several countries, and trust me…the major difference between a develop society and developing or under developed society is time management. To put it clearly, the difference between Africa and the western world is time management.
If you use a digital watch, immediately you land in most first world countries, the watch automatically update to the same time with the national clock or time…no room for flimsy excuses like my watch was a bit late or slow like we have here in Africa.
I’ve ran from my home to meet a train at a train station, and missed it by just a minute beyond the departure time. I have missed a flight from Paris to Milan by just some few minutes of delay on my part. The western countries peg their salary or wages payment to time, you think they are foolish …not at all. The secret is to ensure efficiency and effectiveness. If I pay you hourly, I will ensure you are more efficient at the job I gave you because I don’t want to waste my money, not like in African that we do monthly payment, people go to work, lazy about for two weeks and put in some work or effort in the last two weeks of the month, because they will definitely be paid at the end of the month. In Western society everything understands time, people understand time, inanimate things understand time in western world.
Submission of candidates at a given time is submission at that time..no rigmarole. Why will I set a time if I know parties can fill in replaceable candidates, the aim will be defeated.
Every candidate vying for a post should have had his structure in place before buying the forms.,, change will be allowed but on exceptional grounds. That will show how serious minded people are in the change of status quo they advocate. What precedence are you setting as a political leader to time management?
This is channelled to all the political parties…Time is of essence Abegi, let’s not obsess over shadows in derogation of SUBSTANCE… Making a wrong decision in a timely manner is far WORSE than being a bit late.
Even in the US (where we largely borrowed our political structure)… NOT A SINGLE candidate has EVER had his running mate in place “before buying forms”.
For example, Obama became the Democrats’ candidate on June 3, 2008… But announced Biden as running mate over two-ands-a-half months later on August 23, 2008
The decision of a running-mate is an IMPORTANT one… Both for electoral permutations and as a potential VP (and even president).
The problem here lies with INEC… Even granted it desires lawsuits to be settled before elections, it’s schedule is RIDICULOUS!> |

Again, not true… Frankly, only those at the BOTTOM of the labor market (manual labor, bus boys, minimum wage earners) are paid by the hour. Even those professionals that BILL by the hour are not themselves paid by the hour… Without prejudice to timeliness, the greatest premium is paid to what’s between your ears. Arriving in time won’t save an inept worker. > |

The third world nations are really advancing and Lagos is nowhere to be seen. We hype about our nation with 210 million people producing only 4 thousands mega watt compared with south Africa of just partly of 50 million and Egypt, producing upto 50 thousand mega watt. The most underated state today is Akwaibom, take it or leave it. Lagos is still a huge jungle. What are you doing about it? Are you not Nigerian? okeyumez: Go to Kano and see good roads with 5 - 6 lanes on each side built with solid martials. Traveling from Lekki phase 1 to ibeju lekki is just 2 lanes. No connecting bridges. Sands have taken over many portions of the road. The roads are narrow, pot holes everywhere. From sangotedo to Ajah bridge is like passing through hell fire. Too much traffic due to bad roads and heavy trucks. Ajah is just a name. Inner roads are worse. No good water and no alternative routes to V.I These road look substandard. Lagos do not construct quality roads. The only good road in Lagos is the one constructed by Dangote from Oworonshoki to Apapa road. I do not know why the present government in Lagos find it difficult to demolish some structures and expand their roads. Akowonjo road is too narrow due to illegal structures from vulcanizer bus stop to egbeda. Ikotun and shasha road are worse than all roads in Central African Republic and Somalia. Most times i wonder what the LASG does with the money they generate through IGR > It uses the money to support the MILLIONS of Nigerians who VOTE with their feet by streaming into Lagos… Including many from Kano who leave their allegedly good roads to come and drive Okada on the supposedly bad roads of Lagos! > |

The fact that so many of the street traders in front of Tejuosho have shops inside the market itself should inform about the mentality of folks that Lagos is dealing with. > |

money121: As part of concerted efforts aimed at ensuring the general cleanliness of Lagos environs in line with global best practices, the Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) has effected the demolition and removal of illegal structures under the CMS bridge.
The Corps Marshal of the Agency, CP Gbemisola Akinpelu, (rtd), made this disclosure at the Command Headquarters, Bolade-Oshodi, noting that the exercise was in response to petitions received about the activities of street traders and miscreants around the CMS axis and under the Eko Bridge.
Akinpelu explained that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had also given a directive that the refrigerators and cold rooms constructed with illegal connections under the bridge be dismantled to avoid a repeat of the Apongbon bridge incident, adding that other illegal structures were also dismantled and carted away by the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA).
She also directed that the cleared area be sustained by operatives of the Agency stationed around the CMS axis, warning that anyone caught returning to the location for illegal trade will be dealt with in accordance with the Lagos State Environmental Management and Protection Law 2017.
While calling for voluntary compliance with the State Environmental Laws, Akinpelu charged street traders and hawkers to desist from displaying their wares for trading under bridges, pedestrian bridges, walkways, setbacks, sidewalks, road verges and medians, stressing that such untoward behaviour negatively affects the environment and impedes the free flow of human and vehicular movement across the State.
The Corps Marshal also enjoined pedestrians to be safety-conscious by using pedestrian bridges, just as she advised owners of private and public property to have a valid waste collection contract for proper waste disposal to foster cleanliness in the State.

Nobody should be breaking the law in ANY nation, and if they do they should be rightfully punished (regardless of nationality or national origin), but for the avoidance of any doubt Nigerians are the WORST law-breakers in Nigeria (as well as being the WORST offenders in treating their Nigerian workers like sh*t - from domestic help to commercial/office employees).
Instead of being CRUDE XENOPHOBES and seeking scapegoat among immigrants (a infamous culture traversing back to the days of “Ghana-Must-Go”), let’s start to fix our nation by, among other things, properly enacting, observing and enforcing laws.> |
