It also involves reforming processes, combating insecurity, and creating an environment for economic dev., etc.

If age is the issue, they should check his primary school certificate, his classmates can still speak out.
But, other issues will still arise, the boy may still say he was not he was going to donate kidney.

Even if the Ekweremadus escape some of the serious charges, they did a shady arrangement. There hands are not totally clean. At 21 in Nigerian, honestly most are not really free adults, either you are still in school processes or learning a trade. Either way you are most probably under parents or guardians.
So I ask -
1, Did Ekweremadu inform the boy's parents or guardians?
2, Did they inform any of the guy's relative?
3, Or did they just got the boy through a connect and did all in secrecy.
4, If it is such a risk free venture, why did they not persuade any of the remaining children to donate the kidney?

His age is IRRELEVANT…

Age minority may be an aggravating factor (in sentencing)…
But it is substantively IRRELEVANT to the offense being charged.

Rather, it is the UK GOVT (the State) making criminal “claims” against the Ekweremadus.

Further, the Prosecution is NOT making the case “on his behalf” but on behalf of the UK government…
The “claims” of the State does not necessarily depend on the dude, but more likely on DOCUMENTARY evidence!

The Ekweremadus are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

Did he know about the reason for the journey before hand? And even if he knew, what measures did the senator take to make sure that the boy wasn’t agreeing based on duress?

I know it’s possible he wanted to use the opportunity to escape the country and then turn around to claim underage. But the senator being the bigger person here should have done due diligence.

Duress or family involvement is irrelevant….

Also, why has immigration quickly confirmed the boy's age but may take eternity to confirm the authenticity of the passport used by the boy?

The issue is that the boys information predating the international passport such as his BVN links and national identity info shows he is 22. So Ekweremadu's legal team only need to produce or subpoena his records to show that even before he met Ekweremadu, he had already stated his accurate age which I 22 years.
