Namnam: The atheists of Nigeria are 900 thousand people currently and growing especially as more Nigerians move to the cities and as public security starts cracking down more and more on jihadism and fundamentalist Islam as time passes means Nigeria is gonna become increasingly secular as time passes. Thoughts on this trend? That's good news. With more advances recorded in science, religion will continue to lose its value in this country, and more and more Nigerians will embrace irreligion. In the near future, I envision many churches and mosques will be converted to research institutes and hospitals as many Nigerians realize that the Bible and Qur'an are nothing but plagiarized books of African religious practices and concepts. They're simply books of lies and great deception. |

musicwriter: So you think everything will be over once you get rid of her and make her take the blame?
Look, the way the algorithm of nature works is that once you successfully get rid of her, nature would think you love that type of thing (of course, you've proved you love it) and nature would lead you to (not one) but many people who'll do same or similar thing to you. And it's not because nature is doing it to punish you, rather it's just giving you what you prefer, just like watching one YouTube video would suggest more similar videos to you. This is where ignorant religions got their "reap what you sow " and God nonsense but which is just the law nature at work. Every living thing is subject to this law including your God if it exists. LordReed: It is like how legends build up around people who were real but due to the influence on their community take on a larger than life persona. Jesus was one of a number of apocalyptic preachers of his day, he was not unique as an itinerant preacher. What may have set him apart was his teachings which was focused on a proclamation of the unseen kingdom of Yahweh unlike the others who were proclaiming that god would literally come and uproot the Romans. That could have been what triggered his differentiation and eventual legendary status. Okay. I've not seen any evidence to show Jesus Christ was a real person. Based on my research over the years, my findings show that Yeshua was the real person that existed and was a black man (homo erectus or giant) from ancient Africa, and his history was distorted and twisted by the whites to invent Jesus Christ as a fictitious character. That's my own position. It's all for politics and to control the sheep |

LordReed: I agree with you on most of what you said but there are some ways we disagree.
First I don't think Jesus is a fictional character however I do think accounts of him are fictionalized. Please, clarify what you mean here. LordReed: Secondly I think that the practice of religion is different from the beliefs of religion. For instance there are atheists who practice Christianity and there are those who practice paganism. It might seem like a contradiction but only if you are unable to see the difference between practice and belief.
The second is the primary reason why I can be against the bad ideas of religion and not be against the practice of religion. That's understandable. |
Education › Re: Built On The Bodies Of Slaves: How Africa Was Erased from Modern World History by A001(op): 7:14am On Nov 21, 2021 |
TEACHING MOMENT: You may have seen this photo before. It is one of my favorites. I am standing in Xalapa, Mexico slightly in front of and next to the colossal Olmec head called El Rey. In English El Rey means "The King." I love it. Looks almost like a post card. The head is about three-thousand years old. The Olmec civilization is universally regarded as the parent civilization of the Americas and the most outstanding and visible feature about the Olmec civilization are twenty massive stone heads with African features. From 2014 to 2018 I took five tour groups to Mexico to see these heads. And the conclusion that I came to is that not only has there been a pervasive and influential African presence in Mexico from the most ancient times, but that at the height of the Olmec civilization in ancient Mexico there reigned a dynasty of African kings. Yes, I realize the magnitude and implications of what I am saying. I know that it goes beyond the parameters of what we are led to believe about African people in the Americas. I know that it goes beyond the realm of slavery. But the evidence is indisputable that African people were well established in the Americas, particularly Mexico, both before Columbus and long before the Trans-Atlantic slave trade. I don't state such things lightly. I worked under and had a close relationship with Dr. Ivan Van Sertima--the world's leading authority on the African presence in early America--from 1981 until his death in May 2009. I have studied African history for more than forty-five years. In the last twenty years I have traveled to more than a 120 countries, colonies and overseas territories in search of the African presence, have taken tens of thousands of photos and engaged in relentless research. I was staggered by what I saw in Mexico and so my real question is why is this information not well known and why it had not penetrated the popular imagination? Indeed, with the great divide that exists between the Mexican-American and African-American communities in the United States such information about the African presence in Mexican history can even be healing. For it tells us that we have a long history of interactions. Olmec civilization began about 1500 BCE and lasted until near the beginning of the Christian era. It profoundly influenced all of the Meso-American civilizations the followed, including the Maya, the Totonac, the Zapotec and the Aztec. It is the parent civilization of the Americas. To state that African people played a prominent role in American history from the very beginning is not an attempt to seize Native American and Mexican history and civilization. It is simply a clear and unapologetic attempt to set the record straight, and that record states that African people have a history second to none, including a remarkable history in pre-Columbian America--and it is a history that deserves to be shouted to the world. This is not new information. The first was these heads was identified in 1862 by Mexican scholar Jose Melgar, who described it as "Ethiopian." By Ethiopian he simply meant African. It is important to know that African people did not begin their history in the Americas as enslaved people. They arrived as masters of their own fate and the arbiters of their own destinies. And, more than anyone else, Ivan Van Sertima showed to the world this basic fact—a fact that no rational and unbiased person would attempt to refute. LordReed: Example? I would focus on the two popular Abrahamic religions here, Christianity and Muslim, because these are the ones I mainly have issues with. The foundation of these two religions was built on lies, distorted historical and scientific facts, pure superstition, existence of paradise and hell, and aversion toward research and skepticism. For instance, Christianity requires adherents to believe in Jesus Christ, which hasn't been proven to exist, as their saviour. It's irrational for any sane person to believe in something without solid evidence. But then, Christians must believe in and have (blind) faith in Jesus and are not allowed to question this creed. If someone introduces something to you, discourages you not to scrutinize it, and threatens you that if you question it, a misfortune will befall to you, then it's obvious that person is hiding some key information about that thing from you. This is the modus operandi of Christian theologians, right from their early days to modern times. When atheists on and off Nairaland criticize Jesus for being a fictitious character (which is what he's in reality), their criticism is directed toward the very foundation of Christianity itself. As a Christian or a Muslim, you can't freely question all aspects of either religion. It's a very bad idea to prohibit people from questioning some things in a religion which they'd spend a substantial part of their lifetime practicing. This idea (prohibition to ask some questions) lies at the core of Christianity and Islam. Another core idea that's bad in both religions is the problem of destiny and the existence of hell. If God creates all things, knows all things, can do all things, and has destined some people for hell-fire even before they were born, why then does he punish disbelievers for acting based on his instructions, which are coded in their DNA as decreed by God (using the logic of Christians and Muslims). All these ideas are not just bad but look childishly ridiculous and highly unreasonable. There are many other examples, especially in Islam (the five pillars of Islam and the six cardinals of faith). But let me stop here for now. When you're against these key ideas, you're against that religion. You can't say you're not against Christianity as a religion and still criticize core beliefs in the religion. Without these core beliefs, there'd be nothing called Christianity. The same thing applies to Islam as well. |

Christianity Etc › Re: One Science That proves that The Noah’s Flood Is A Big Joke. by A001: 7:18am On Nov 20, 2021 |
Workch: With basic thermodynamics of liquid, it’s easy to see the ridiculousness of the Noah’s ark myth. The Bible claims that there was rainfall for 40days that covered the peak of Mount Everest, let’s even assume that the earth contains that much amount of water molecules to reach the height of 8848 meters. What about the latent heat of vaporization of the huge amount of water? What effect will that have on the ecosystem? This can be even experimented in the most archaic of all scientific labs
What is latent heat of vaporization? Latent heat of vaporization is the latent heat, energy absorbed or released by a liquid during a change in its physical state into gaseous form that occurs without changing its temperature. For example, when a pot of water is kept boiling, the temperature remains at 100 °C (212 °F) until the last drop evaporates, because all the heat being added to the liquid is absorbed as latent heat of vaporization and carried away by the escaping vapour molecules.
By calculation using the formula to calculate latent heat of vaporization, the amount of energy required from the sun to vaporize such amount of water that covered the peak of Mount Everest within a period of less than 1year will produce a latent heat of more than 5000 °C. This temperature will totally sterilize the biosphere, (part of the earth where living organisms thrive), even the so called thermophiles (organisms that live in extreme temperatures) will not survive this temperature. So it makes no scientific sense that such an event can occur, it’s demonstrable in the lab that’s a ridiculous concept. Unless of cause you decide to inject miracles into it, however this doesn’t make it any more scientific. It doesn’t just make any scientific sense.
We just have to laugh over it because the story was written by Bronze Age nomads who didn’t even know that the earth is spheroid. If you believe that story then you are even more ridiculous than they were. Spot on |
