This has to be the most stupidest statement you've ever made. Such callous generalization. Mtchew.

Furthermore, what sort of cultism is worse than one where you slam your head to the ground 5 times a day chanting to the air or worse still "praying" before taking a shite or pissing. That's deranged cultism right there
Don't mind him. People like him are hypocrites.

Everyone that visits the Islam section on Nairaland knows one must sign an oath before being allowed to post a comment on topics in the section.

Offline, Muslims treat people that leave Islam automatically as an enemy without any justification and threaten and coerce these people to rescind their decision.

This is how typical cultists behave and treat their ex-members.

No historical record is 100% accurate, even this one compiled by Africans.
Yes, that's true. But when reviewing the books of history of a particular people or place, the accounts of the natives will be more accurate most times than those of outsiders.

Emmynator:
You are playing the "if you don't agree with this history written by Africans, then you must be under mental slavery of the whites" card.
So long you worship a god, you're in a form of slavery, mostly mental.

Emmynator:
I don't think it's a waste of time to learn history, i think you overestimate the effect of learning said history.
You think historical glory will overwrite the effect of inferiority complex generated by current status?
Now it will have "some" effect, but like I said you overestimate it's effect.
I don't see how I've overestimated anything. History is one of the most crucial areas for any African to know.

A people well versed in their history can hardly be enslaved. However, lack of knowledge of history makes a people lose and dislike their native culture, language, and traditions.

A nation that loses her history has lost her soul and conscience. With time, such a language or culture will die.

These are true statements without any exaggeration. You reason like the average Nigerian Christian/Muslim who places little value on the traditional cultures but considers the holy Bible/Qur'an as the superior sources for moral codes.

But the opposite should be the case, unless of course a person is bound in chains mentally to the colonial masters' invented religion.

I read a book " mystery of earth the ancient edition " given to me by my mother .it has earths profile ,events, myths, truths, facts, galaxy studies, Bizarre events ,footsteps to the unknown. in this footsteps to the unknown I came across nostrademus the greatest predictor and 100 out of 2000 of his predictions are listed , 34 has happened then ( 2004 or something when I was little) and the remaining are yet to happen because it is in the future . one out of the 66 that are yet to happen is " That a soul will come out from heart of Africa to save Africa and the world" and that made it 35 when I saw otem and his writings and I said he is the one.
When I read that book I did ask my mum " who the person will be ? And she replied someone who shall expose liars with his truth
And I was like how can truth make this world a better place, I believe the person will come like Jesus to kill wicked people , liars aren't that bad .
And she said Axxxxx u will understand lies is worst than murder someday as for now u are little and naive !
But now I know that what otem is doing will turn Nigeria to germany even better if we listen to him and understand him, because I believe war and guns cannot save Africa but truth and he is giving us dangerous truths that can spark first revolution first time in Africa

Later I showed my mum otem's writings and she said he is the one ,

In a minute u are criticising the whiteman's account of history and in the next u are agreeing some of those things they said may actually be true.

My point is why then do u engage in a whole lot of argument all day giving the impression that the whiteman's version of history is majorly inaccurate when almost everybody knows no accoubt of history is 100% accurate?

I ordinarily wasn't going to get in u and and Havertz discussion on whether the whitemen Brough civilization/enlightenment to Africa or not, but Ur continued stand that the whiteman fed us lies as history just couldn't make me keep calm. Havertz made a good point that Africans ourselves aren't really blameless in the whole colonization/conquering of Africa by the whiteman ; or how do u explain an African selling his fellow African to the whiteman for gun, alcohol, mirror, etc?

I understand Ur African spirit, but Africans also underdeveloped Africa......I know this and I know peace
Still looking for the cogent points you're making here because so far, I've not seen any.

I told you to quote where I stated that some Africans didn't engage in barbaric acts as you claimed, but you couldn't.

Here you're with a new false claim. Quote where I told you that Africans aren't blameworthy as regards slave-trading on this continent.

I see you're not reading my posts you're quoting.

The proper thing to do is to first go through the posts you're quoting, and not quote me repeating things I already said, and you're still asking me about them when they're clearly stated in the post you quoted or the preceding ones.

Anyone that knows the history of Africa knows the current state the continent finds herself today was caused by European and Arab supremacists and many African people, especially her leaders, who either aided these foreigners or are still subjecting African citizens to new regimes of colonialism characterized with endemic corruption and poor leadership.

You have implied repeatedly that Africa would have advanced into a civilized society if colonization never happened, that claim is my issue, there is no evidence to back such assertions

Because Africans were at no point enlightened and even being outspoken against norms in the land was met with death

Most of these issues predate religion particularly in the south

So I ask again, why are you promoting African exceptionallity, when there was never anything exceptional about those barbaric neanderthals
I don't promote African exceptionalism and have never done so.

What I always advocate both online and offline is for people to learn true African history — both the good and bad parts — from books written by Africans or black people themselves.

And I also promote the good aspects of our traditional/cultural values devoid of any elements of idolatry and barbaric practices.

I don't think this post of yours needs any response from me when you called ancient African people that lived less than few thousands of years ago "barbaric neanderthals".

While I understand Teejay is angry and has issues with the way the colonial masters treated our forebearers, I don't really understand what he's trying to achieve by saying some of those things the whitemen documented about some barbaric acts done in the past really did not happen.

I mean look at the whiteman's account of the invasion of Benin kingdom; they mentioned human sacrifices being made, slaves being hung on stake to appease the gods, etc. You may want to believe these things didn't happen but was figment of the whiteman's imagination, however if u look at some communities even in this present day who still carry out human sacrifices, oro festivals that prohibits women from coming in contact with or else such woman will never be seen again, etc.....Then u should be able to deduce most of these things(if not all) did happen.

Your argument about enlightenment holds little value when in all eras of human history, religious people have always been in the majority.

And an average religionist believes he's enlightened, even though you may feel otherwise.

FYI, most, if not all, religions in the world have their bad or barbaric practices.

Everything you've been churning out here is the history of Africa as narrated by Europeans, not by African themselves.

Yes, the Europeans brought enlightenment to Africa by colonizing, enslaving, and plundering the resources of most African countries.

Lols. Read more about such enlightenment they brought to Africa below:

Only someone that knows very little about the horrors of slavery and colonialism will write those two vices in the same line with enlightenment.

Your problem is you think without Western-style education, a person isn't educated, and without understanding English, a person isn't intelligent or enlightened.

It's easy to arrive at these deductions from your posts on this subject.

If some Africans used to engage in few barbaric religious practices hundreds of years ago, does that mean the whole of Africa did the same?

All you've been saying about Africa is what the whites wrote. An informed perspective will contain aspects from both the conquerors and conquered.

And only the natives of a land can really narrate an accurate or fairly accurate history of their land, not foreigners, not their conquerors.

Can you make a reference to any traditional religion where worshippers had a concensus view about engaging in such barbaric practices?

Anyone that knows African history well enough would know African traditional worshippers have diverse religious beliefs, practices, and gods/goddesses.

If you think Africans were really savages as the European historians claim, then you should ask yourself why many Greek philosophers got educated in ancient Egypt, a country of blacks going by their writings, inscriptions on walls, statues and pictures of their gods and rulers.

You're just arguing about a subject matter you've not taken the time to research on.

Going by your comments, it's clear you know next to nothing about ancient Egyptian civilizations, Old Mali Empires, and the other empires mentioned above to think all these great people engaged in barbaric practices as some European historians might have claimed when they didn't even have a single native religion.

I said that African supposed civilization wasn't a civilization but a tragedy waiting to happen because their foundational principle was flawed and based on barbaric practices, you said that they were great, that all civilizations fall

i'm now telling you that any civilization built on rational foundations can never fall

The only reason Europeans attained enlightenment was because they explored, they traveled and learnt different cultural habits and practices

it's this premise that led to the age of enlightenment

The biggest benefactor of it is actually America

Age of enlightenment led to the French revolution, american founding fathers created a constitution modeled after French national assembly constitution created during the French revolution

Civil liberties and freedom for all its people, rational systematic procedures

Religion and government aren't aligned in America, forget all those god bless America that their politicians say, American societal and social system is very secular, there is no mention of religion in their constitution, there is a very clear separation between church and state

The people that built those pyramids were black/African, not Arabs or Europeans as the Euro-centric historians claim.

If you think savages could build those pyramids, then you're joking.

A number of books of history written by Africans and early Greek authors narrated the history of the ancient black people of Egypt, including Otem's literature and the one shared above.

But I understand you must rate those ones as inferior to the ones the white slavemasters wrote since the latter gave you enlightenment.

If I dress in a native wear, use beads and cowries for fashion and converse with people in Yoruba most times offline, people like you would say I'm not enlightened.

If I teach students in Yoruba, you'd say I'm not educated.

I don't understand the effort to rewrite history.
Who's rewriting history? Maybe you think all the info in that book is new. They're not.

A number of African historians have written on the subject many years ago, but the current effort just got more support and backing from African leaders, especially the AU.

That's the major difference.

Who's more qualified to write the history of African people?

Africans or Europeans or Arabs? You're saying the authors and contributors that wrote that book are rewriting history?

If you don't narrate and document your own history, foreigners will do so as they wish and use it to manipulate you.

No one is rewriting history, unless of course you think the whites and the Arabs have exclusive rights to write the history of Africa.

Emmynator:
Now I am not saying that account of the whites is accurate and faultless, I am saying that the disparity isn't as grand as you believe them to be.
It's a lot grander. You sound like the average Nigerian that knows the (controversial) history of fictitious Jesus offhand but doesn't know the simplest of facts about the history of their native land.

No wonder most Nigerians see "black" as something dark, shameful or evil and "white" as the opposite. That's the dominant view in the country.
Emmynator:
Now whether civilization started from Africa or not, doesn't matter, what matter is that at the point of contact between the Europeans and Africans, the Europeans had more advanced technology that made it easier to take control of Africa. They took control and devised means to maintain that control. That's what matters.
You sound so naive. Even the highlighted doesn't matter to you, it's important for archeological, pedagogical, and research purpose.

Every aspect of history is important.

You might as well tell schools to scrap the aspects of archeology and paleontology in those departments that deal with the origin of civilizations on earth.
Emmynator:
Look at the two world wars and the increase in technology that came with it, no African country could boast of that. The European living conditions made them given to innovation and invention, and that made it possible for them to dominate Africa.

If Africa was left alone, we would have developed at our own pace definitely, but at the point in history that matters, we were not as technologically advanced, and you won't blame us, we had totally different cultures and priorities. We were simply not prepared to withstand invasion.
In any war, most times the party with the most sophisticated technologies and skilled men wins. That doesn't mean the invaders were more civilized than some parts of Africa hundreds of years ago.

Military technologies aren't the alpha and omega of technological advancements or civilization. The main reason why the whites had superior technologies was they're war-mongers and expansionists.

Many great countries in today's Europe used to consider plundering the resources of richer and friendlier countries and conquering and colonizing them a key part of their strategy for growth and development.

Many Africans in the past didn't have interest in such endeavors. But that doesn't mean some of those African countries were less civilized.

Due to this reluctance to invade and colonize foreign lands, that's why you'd hardly find adherents of African traditional religions beyond Africa, except due to the trans-Atlantic slavery trades, unlike Christianity and Islam.

Or do you define civilization or greatness based on a country's successful plundering efforts, engaging in slavery, invading and colonizing other people?
Emmynator:
@ your last paragraph, that may or may not be a fact, even if it is, how does the knowledge that the world owes us civilization help our current state?
This your question is a funny one.

Most Africans see whites and Arabs as their masters and as superior races because they (Africans), due to their lack of historical knowledge, don't know the damage these people they revere did to the continent over the past years through colonialism and slavery.

They only know the bad aspects of the history of black people as taught to them by the white and Arab supremacists, but not the glorious past. Both aspects are crucial.

While one shouldn't deal with the whites and Arabs with scorn or indignation, it's not proper to treat them obsequiously as well.

Most Africans see themselves as descendants of the ancestors of Israel people (that applies to the Christians) or descendants of the ancestors of Arabs (that applies to the Muslims).

This makes the Africans feel inferior to the whites and Arabs. But this popularly held notion about the origin of mankind is utterly false without any iota of evidence, except the Bible and Qur'an respectively.

But the claim in any book — however popular it's, whether religious or otherwise — still remains a claim unless enough evidence is given to support its veracity.

According to most experts in paleontology and archeology, Africa is the cradle of humankind.

This fact was arrived at working with the data collated over several years — a growing body of evidence in form of tons of fossils and remains of early humans discovered in East Africa over the last 60 years or thereabouts.

It's important to research about this fact concerning the origin of mankind and learn the African origin of civilization. If you don't know your history (both the good and bad aspects), you'll remain in slavery forever and easily lose your identity.

You reason like the average Nigerian that thinks it's a waste of time to learn history.

You're not making any sense at all. If this assertion of yours is true, then that means no civilization has ever existed on this planet in history because looking at human history, the majority of the peoples in all parts of the world have always worshipped one god/goddess or the other, whether civilized or not.

Today, religious people are in the majority in all First World countries. Just like those religions of the so-called civilized people have their good and bad aspects, the native ones in Africa also do.

But the problem is you're focusing on the bad parts of these indigenous religions as you were taught by the white supremacists.

Thus, if you're saying that for the simple fact that being religious means a country isn't civilized, then you clearly don't know what you're talking about.

You're taking "civilization" to be the same as "enlightenment". But both are starkly different.

In all eras of human history, freethinkers have always been in the minority, and I don't see that changing in the next few hundred years.

(Though Otem says in some centuries from now, the scale will tip in favor of freethinkers. This, he claims, was revealed to him by some ancestors of Africa, the gods and goddesses worshipped in religions, who monitor (future) happenings on Earth via satellites from other planets with times much faster than ours and in some parts of the inner universe where there's no time.

It's an interesting statement, but still a claim nevertheless.)

You're a clearly a very ignorant fellow to posit it was the whites that brought enlightenment to Africa.

Were most of the white people or Arabs themselves even enlightened a few hundred years ago?

You're funny.

Before you start discussing about a subject you know very little of, first get good books of Africa's history or black race history written by African/black historians and read, not the crap you've been fed with by hegemonic European or Arab historians.

You clearly know very little about the ancient Egyptians, who called their land Kemet and were black/African people, not European or Arab as mischievously painted in history books written by whites or Arabs or by their media houses.

Related: https://en.lisapoyakama.org/the-ancient-egyptians-were-black/

Ancient Egypt used to be a superpower in the olden days, just like the US is today.

I don't even need to waste time in this sort of discussion considering the fact that even though Africa is the second largest continent in the world by both population and land mass after Asia, our continent is represented on world maps as if it's much smaller than the other continents and even countries in Europe and Asia.

It's not surprising that many white people see Africa as just a small country, not a large continent.

This simple yet highly significant misrepresentation shows how the whites have twisted many facts about Africa to Africans themselves and to the outside world.

They also did the same thing to the histories of ancient Egypt and other parts of North Africa.

Your comments here on this subject show these white supremacists did an excellent job of distorting the history of the black race.

Many leaders and historians in Africa and black nations outside the region wrote that book for people like you to educate yourself about Africa's real history and bin the trash taught to you over the years by the white and Arab supremacists.

FYI, in the oldest parts of Europe, the Americas Asia, and Australia, their indigenous people are black, even including Saudi Arabia.

FYI, the world owes Africa every aspect of the civilization achieved today, not the other way round. That's a fact.

Religion just gives those assumptions fuel to motivate you that you matter in the grand scheme of things but africans are stupid and I know that when alone they look around themselves and agree that something is wrong and it's always not them but god is coming to fix it cheesy because africans are special, the chosen race cheesy

We have been fed this false assumption of exceptionallity

there was a time we were great they like to boast but were we ever great? , those times looked great because of our population then was small.

Nigerian population 1960 was 46m
Today it's more than 200m
Go get good books of history of past civilizations and empires, you'd see there's little truth in the highlighted part of your post.

Your opinion is like that of the average Nigerian or African who hasn't taken the time to learn the history of the black people.

Civilizations and empires rise and fall. In the past, there had been great black civilizations and empires in Africa, such as those of the ancient Egyptians (not the Arabs occupying the land for some centuries now), Old Benin Kingdom, Shongai empire, Aksum empire, etc.

These great peoples were the powerful ones in the olden days, when many parts of Europe and Asia were still very undeveloped.

But everything in life occurs in cycles. Today, it's the turn of the Europeans and Asians to dominate the world, just like black people in Africa (the cradle of mankind) had done in the past.

In the future, black people will also rule the world again. For any race to be great, the people has to first know their true history.

To prevent any people from achieving greatness, one of the first things the colonizers and conquerors do is to destroy such a people's cultural heritage, history, and religious values.

Then, they'll feed them with lies and twisted historical facts that would make the subjugated people view themselves as inferior to their slave masters.

Such a people will even dislike their culture.

Thus, it's unsurprising to know that most black people hate that word "black" and see it as something "dark", "ugly", or "devilish".

It's one of the gravest effects of the distorted historical facts they've been taught in Western-centric schools and media.

And yes, every black history buff knows how a number of Africans either sold off their fellow Africans to slavery or aided the whites and Arabs in doing so for financial gains.

What do you think people like Amoto94 will do to any freethinker or atheist in their family, even if such a person is their own child, for encouraging people to learn their true history and support the good aspects of the native culture?

No be only laborious Na notorious.
There's this deadly cultist I know back then in school who hasn't renounced his membership and each time I read him on Facebook he's always claiming a Pan-Africanist who is no slave to Arabs and Europeans you're sounding like him.
Most of you guys who claim to be freethinkers, agnostics, Pan-Africanists are closest cultists.
You don't always think twice before making a fool of yourself on a public forum.

Simply because I recommended that book, entitled The Africa Factbook, whose publication was supported by a number of African presidents including those of Zimbabwe and South Africa, and others, I've become a cultist.

There's no modicum of sense in this kind of reasoning.

If you're actually smart, you'd have seen that the literature is on AU's website (since the African Union Commission also made key contributions in the work) and contains inputs from some current and past African presidents.

I know you'd know deadly cultists in school since the majority of the things in your head are Sharia, Islamic extremism, cultists and their cohorts, and other anti-human vices.

FYI, I'm not a cultist, have never been one, and don't even have such people as friends. Since I don't smoke or drink alcohol (not even palm wine), there's no way I would have got along well as a student with people like your cultist-friend in your school.

Now, even after leaving school some years back, I still maintain this life of a teetotaler.

When your brain is only useful in servitude to and worship of a god, you'd give this sort of nonsensical response to a germane issue.

The life of a slave is no life!

Check out this book of Africa's history or the history of the black race: https://au.int/sites/default/files/documents/40334-doc-africa_factbook-version-digital.pdf

Most Africans and black people around the world only know their history from the perspectives of the European and Arab colonizers and slave masters who, for the past six centuries, have twisted — and are still twisting — historical facts about Africa and her people.

To learn the true Africa's history written by Africans and black people themselves after years of laborious research, this book is highly recommended.

You are confusing yourself by ignoring my words then creating crap in your head. Please stop! It is not healthy.

If the monicker on NL were JesusChrist, would you say "Haleluya Christ has risen after being dead over two millennia"?

budaatum, who is both buda and atum (Nairaland does not allow buda atum), is not "the pagan god/ancestor of ancient Egyptians", but simply,
"a moniker on Nl" of an individual who is neither ancient nor a god nor Egyptian!
Okay

I actually don't intend charging money for that in future. This initial charge is just because I am in a difficult situation where I must raise venture capital to establish a structure to allow me offer it free of charge.

Some of the books include those I already sent you sometime ago. It's just a matter of picking one information here and there and grouping it into a specific knowledge.

Regarding the other thing, you'll hear from me when he do it.
Any update, bro?

Is atum not short for budaatum? I thought it went without saying, my bad.

Yes, A001, I have met myself, and I have carried and continue to carry out the task of asking and seeking and knocking with all my heart and soul and mind and being to boot. You yourself mentioned my reading, and that despite seeing only one or two books I've read. Or do you now disbelieve your own eyes?
This posts shows utter confusion.

How can budaatum, a moniker on Nl, be the same person as Atum, the pagan god/ancestor of ancient Egyptians?

You're very funny cheesy

So some people went to the bother to "plagiarized versions of the texts of older animistic religions (paganism)", so you consider them useless?

I'm not like you A001. As you have seen for yourself, Atum went digging for earlier versions of older animistic religions so buda can understand better. Its like you caught belief, while I went asking and knocking and seeking. That's kind of why its the tree of the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil. Some climb and see evil. Some climb and see good. Some square the circle at its roots. And some look up at the branches and claim they climbed the tree.

I'm so grateful some "merely plagiarized versions of the texts of older animistic religions (paganism)", A001. I might have been budacocacola, or budabetnja, or worse still, budabb, yuk! without it!
Have you met Atum once? And when did he carry out the highlighted task?

When a witch on the side of justice confronts d governor many witches a likely to fight back ,
Only ideology or ghosts can defeat those thieves
You didn't answer my questions in the previous post. But that's fine.

Where were all these witches and ogbanjes when the British came and defeated the best forces of the old Benin kingdom, old Oyo empire, Ijebu and other parts of the country to colonize Nigeria in the past?

If the Great Britain, the US or China wants to attack and colonize Nigeria again, will these spiritual forces be able to stop them?
