What do you do in Cyprus?
Are you a permanent resident in Cyprus or have any legal status that authorized your living/schooling/work?
Who is sponsoring you?
Why are you just going for bachelors at 24?
Do you have any degree?

ghettonews:
Pls friends and family who is going for bachelor's in the united state, is there any age limit for bachelors in USA?
I am 24 and I live in the Eu cyprus and I planned to apply for my students visa in us embassy Cyprus which will make it more easier for me .

I will answer your questions randomly.
I am 28years old
Yeah. I have a degree in Political Science Bayero University Kano
My relationships with this woman;we started chatting last year, she came to Nigeria in May, we saw though(but she didn't come because of me Sha). As the day goes by, our friendship was taking deep roots. We no dea date, just normal friendship. Fast forward to this college stuff.
My story:My name is Jonathan, the last of five, a Pol sci degree holder with a special interest on International politics and how it affects our daily lives. After my graduation and mandatory one year service, I ventured into fashion and designing, as we all know fashion is a global phenomenon and African fashion also staking claims in it. As a student of international politics, it will give you a wholesome perspective on how globalization has helped in shaped and changing the way people see fashion in the world.
Bro, is the kind of story you're talking about about? Please correct me(if I'm wrong)
Thank you.

For clarification, Community College is the same thing as going to Polytechnic for OND!

My Advise, since you already have a BSc, why not look for masters program that suits you and look for ways you can get scholarships/funding. If Philly is your choice, there are couple Universities in there you can check out to see if they have opportunities for scholarship. Then take your time to find ways to qualify for the scholarship (Refer to my earlier post about getting scholarship), that way your financial burden is cut down by a huge percentage. All you need to achieve this is determination and dedication. If you can dedicate time to it, you can achieve it. Dedicate your time to making research and looking for ways (it is always worth it)

The problem for most people is they dont want to put in work, they just want wuruwuru to the answer which does not work for everybody. Put in work and whenever you are in doubt or have questions, ask and people will answer.

Hello, I discovered that most US schools have started waving GRE, TOEFL and other exams as a requirement towards Fall 2020 admission. However, after securing admission, is it possible to seek for funding without these exams considering the competition involved in seeking for fund? I need advise.

Thanks.

The best way to get funding is to:
Take a look into the department you are trying to study from in any school and see the kind of projects or programs the Professors in that department have going on and reach out to the one that you have interest in.
Let the professor know that you are interested in his work and how you can contribute.
Let him understand your background, what you have done in the past, your undergraduate project and how it aligns with what he/she is doing (even if you have to lie but not advisable if you cannot structure it well enough to convince yourself)
Ask to know if there is any allocated funding available to sponsor grad students for the program
Let him/her give you the requirements and what you need to do in order to secure a spot
Look for viable person(s) in your undergrad school to write recommendation letter(s) for you
And follow the school/department procedure as well.

You never know, you might just be lucky that way!!!!

Please how did you get the funded offer??

Everyone's story is different and so is everyone's luck (if there is anything like that). I will advise you take some time to read through this thread and get an understanding of how different people go through their individual processes. That way you will obtain all the knowledge you need to also get a fully funded admission. If you now have any difficulty understanding anything, ask specific questions and folks with experience will definitely come to your aid and help out.

Hey guys. I got a fully funded offer to a top school, and I'm really excited. Now the last hurdle for me is the whole VISA issue. For now the site says they're not booking appointments, and my I-20 form isn't even ready yet. I wanted to ask how other people with offers are preparing. If ther s anything you think I could do while this pandemic rages on to ensure I get through this stage.

There is no cause for alarm here.... Every organization in the world knows what is going on. The school is also motioning the situation of things and if at all they see it will not be possible for you to join during the semester you applied for, they will advice you to defer to the next semester. Also there is no indication from anywhere that the US would be allowing anyone from risky countries to come into the US anytime soon (especially with the low testing rate currently going on in Naija). Your best bet is to cross your harms till the embassy announce it is opening back for operation.

For others who are still pursuing admissions, keep it going and follow all the necessary instructions laid out by your prospective schools.

Thank you plenty Bro, let me throw more light.
The said woman is married with four children,we had plans of coming over through a non-immigrant visa, but the ban on Nigeria and other countries on entering the United States through that means changed our plans.
So we had to route another means, but she slightly gave conditions that the school should be based in Philadelphia (because that's where she lives). After making enquiries on universities in Philadelphia, I told her of the choices I made, she said university will be quite expensive for her, she was the one that brought up the idea of college. After applying, I told her and sent the application form...
I am tabling the whole thing because I don't know "Shingbain" concerning traveling and traveling related issue(s).
I know this will be long, but I just have to table it.
I have some questions bothering me. See them:
1.What is the rate of visa approval for college students in Nigeria?
2.Even if the woman agrees (and even goes to okija shrine to swear) that she will sponsor me, will VO hold it for me considering the fact that I and woman are in no way related?
3. Do I have any other thing to be scared of?
Abeg if you get contributions wey no relate to questions wey I ask, it is also welcomed..
Kind regards my people..

If you dont mind me asking, what is your story?

How old are you (estimate)
Have you attended any university in Nigeria?
What is your relationship with this Philadelphia Woman?

Please House, I need help!

I just submitted an application for my Parent and my sister for vacation in the UK and they have an appointment by the end of the month.
-I will be the sole sponsor of everything
-I live and work in the US, I also have a business in Nigeria that I run from the US.
-Last year I sponsored my parents to the US and my sister to Dubai cos she was refused a US vis.
-Now I want them to go and celebrate my Dads birthday in the UK and also my parents wedding anniversary.

-I have paid their visa fee and all. But I need an advise on what are the appropriate documents I need to put together so their application can be approved.

FYI
- I am using my Nigerian personal account for my business. But the flow is very funny (if 50m enter there today, I will transfer it out within 1weeek because I have to convert it to dollar to be able to use in the US for my business), so I dont know if this will be a red flag!

-Also I earn 6figures in the US which is evidence with my paycheck and account statement (Is this sufficient to prove or I should add my Naija Acct? The point is everytime money leaves my Nigerian account, it can be evidenced in my US account)

So please, what does the right documentation looks like for me. What should my cover letter look like? Please I need help.

Thanks Gurus

Please my people is there a specific age requirements for students who wants to do an undergraduate programme in USA. My cousin is 24 years old and he wants to go for an undergraduate programme in USA, he graduated from high school 2010. Hope his age is not a problem

Actually there is no age limit to anything, but the lower your age the better your chances. If i may ask, what has your cousin been doing since 2010 that he graduated.

Uncle it is best to jejely go take another 2*2 passport and fill another ds160, then login into your application page and edit your ds160. Don't go to the embassy with that ds160 with no picture ooo... Or else you might suffer a heart break and/lose about 5k to those embassy touts.

The bold is absolutely not true.. It depends on the school, some still put sponsors name on the I-20 while some just put Family Fund. So it varies depending on the school.

Uncle, Read up, its been addressed. And use your dictionary to check "absolute" cos part of your statement still agrees with mine. Thanks

My 4th transcript may 2017.
For undergraduate admission I can't really recollect the questions but I remember question like

Vo- gud am
Me- gud am
Vo- which school
Me- told her.
Vo- wat year did u graduate high school
Me- 2008
Vo- wat av u being do?
Me- work at ...... As *******.
Vo- are u married
Me- No
Vo- any kid.
Me- No as at last year may.
Den u gave me the blue paper.

8th May 2018 .
My transcript for masters in safety science
Vo- gud am
Me- I replied.
Vo- wen did you graduate( straight questions)
Me- I was thinking he ask where did graduate, so i mention my sch , that I had Hnd from Yct. Later her said when when den I replied 2015. Den I pause.
Vo- What did you study and ur qualification.
Me- mechanical engineering and bachelor degree.
Vo- How many schools do I apply to.
Me- 3 and I mentioned but missed the names up here small.
Vo- where do you work andbwen avbu being working?
Me- I work with %%%%%% as mechanical maintenance technician since last year Feb.
Vo- why safety science now.
Me- I needed this course because of my profession , as a technician I need to know more about safety to keep me safe on my job.
Vo- How many kid do you have.
Me- one.
Vo- who is paying
Me- my Daddy is my major sponsor who will pay my tuition and I will support with my savings to settle books and others .also I got $4,000 scholarship
Vo- your scholarship was not state here on ur i20
Me- yea, I got the scholarship after my i20has been sent to me.
She type for some minutes and later give me the blue paper again.

Pls help me oooo.

From these transcript, my instinct is you are not really prepared. These your responses seem muffled to me and am not convince i will approve your visa either if i am a VO.

My Advise
Suspend going for interview at the moment
Email your school to see if they can hold your admission till Spring 2019
If yes, ask them to include your $4000 funding in your new I-20 whenever they issue another one.
Take your time to study and and write atleast one standardized test if you have never done any before
Try to read through at least 2 parts of these USA education thread
Read through peoples transcripts, both approvals and deniers
Come back and ask questions on anything that seems unclear to you here and am sure folks will help you out.

All these seems too much and probably not of interest to you, but they can work for you if you give it a try.

your i-20 will carry your mom's maiden name as you said, so if any follow up statements carry your last name, it's better to have a backup document that shows she's the same person. You'll most likely not get to that, but if you do, it's not a big deal.

Seek other opinions/advice, please.

To the best of my knowledge, I-20 does not carry any name, it will just show funded by family member or something like that.

Yes I still think that is possible, but your visa will not be approved without paying the SEVIS fee. Also i will advise you pay your sevis fee at least 5days before your interview for it to reflect on the embassy's system.

She also asked me what school I'm going to transfer to after my ore nursing. I said that I didn't have anyone in mind. Plus the man she interviewed before me got on her nerves. Should I go to abuja for another interview or should I go back to Lagos?

Dear Aunty or Uncle, I dont think you need to go to any Abuja or Lagos for now. What i think you should do is, stay back at home, think about what you really want and research how to go about it. I understand we are all trying to run away from the shit hole country according to Donald Trump but we need to be smart about it.

How about you just dont rush anything for now and stop wasting money, Just start afresh and ask the right questions.....

Hello Everybody
Please my intervies is near and i really need to ask this. During the time of application my MUM was not around so i could not get her statement of account. So i used my uncle's account( since they just wanted proof) and on my I-20 its FAMILY FUND thats written there. I have my mums statement of account, and i filled her as my sponsor in my DS160, i just want to ask if there is going to be any issue?

Is it possible that the school uploaded my financial proof to a particular website that the embassy can access. So i'll just go for the interview with my uncle's statement. Or i can go ahead with my MUMs own.. Thanks.

There is no problem with that. You can as well go with both SOA and explain that both of them will be sponsoring you.
