Dear all,
I have been following this thread and I must say u guys are great! Weldone and congrats to those that got their visa approved.

Please i want to make some enquiries and i need all the help I can get in terms of advice, I just received my I 20 but despite the fact that I wrote to defer my admission and got confirmation mail from the admission officer that my admission has been deferred to January, the I 20 i just received carries August 22 as my resumption date.
Should I inform the graduate office immediately or should I proceed with my visa application and then leave Nigeria in January if approved?
If I decide to go ahead with the visa application based on the I 20 i have now, will I have problem at the POE when entering the US in January?.

I will appreciate your quick response and advice.
To the best of my knowledge, I believe your I-20 was issued immediately after you were given admission into the school. The i-20 u received was issued before you deferred your admission and I believe your school will surely be issuing another one for you soon since they already accepted your application to defer.

All you need to do is just mail them and ask them when are they sendin your new i-20 that carries the Spring 2017 resumption date. You don't need to go for your visa interview now cos of that.

I hope this helps.

Please help : I'm in US on B1/B2 Visa, please can my wife join me in US to spend the vacation with me? And is it advisable if my host sends her invitation again? Thanks
If your wife can convince the VO why she is visiting the US at this time, I see no reason why she can't join you or have you violated your visa?

I haven't been able to use my Gtbank card since the announcement of the flexible exchange regime. Maybe now that out had kicked off, they might have opened it up Asian for use.
I don't think so cos most bank has not integrated the new policy into their system. You should get a mail once the card is open. Am patiently waiting for the mail too.

Hi all,

I've got a question with respect to my F1 interview scheduled for early July. The proof of financial support provided by my sponsor's bank is a one-page Balance Certificate addressed to the consulate and showing the available alone. I'll like to know if this will be acceptable? How important is the evidence of cash flow? The bank in question isn't domiciled in Nigeria and it took a week and quite a lot of money to ship the document.
To the best of my knowledge, the cash flow is much more important than whatever balance you might seem to have in the account cos anybody can have any amount as balance.

Let's talk like Nigerians please.

When you pass JAMB and get admission into a university, do you know which classes you would be taking before registration? After you get admission for masters, do you know the classes you will be taking before resumption or registration? So, it is normal if any NIGERIAN does not know which classes she will be taking in her first year; that's just how we were brought up. So, don't let us make it seem like whoever doesn't know the classes she will be taking in the first year is not serious or genuine. Most people know about this question about classes because they read this thread.

In 2010 or thereabout, the VOs ask questions about the states bordering your schools. Who would expect such question in an interview? Most NL'ers were able to answer because of the transcripts posted here.

How many schools did you apply to? Most people honestly applied to one but were denied because of that. This thread has proved that the VO wants you to say that you applied to 3 or more schools even when you know deep inside you that you applied to just one. Many of us won't know this if we didn't visit this thread.

I can go on and on but I think passing the interview depends mostly on how prepared you are and mostly by reading other people's transcripts, it goes a long way. While it is not compulsory to post your transcript after visa issuance; I feel it is immoral not to after gaining much from here. But who am I to complain, to each its own.
This is so true and I can equally relate to it when I started reading on this thread years back. I wonder if nobody posted all those transcripts then for us to read, what would have happened to most applicants that read and took one or two knowledge from here?

Even if not for visas, how about those who has always been there to help pay for Sevis. Thanks to Big Francis who helped with mine then.

2008 was the first time I packaged my school application for US but I was discouraged somehow along the line and lost interest. I never had the intention of coming to America again anytime soon cos i was balling until when I started reading this thread and somehow the interest grew as a result of reading people's transcripts and all. If no one was sharing then, probably I will still be in my shadows dreaming about America now.

I did not run to this thread because I wanted to come to America like some did and after getting it they become arrogant. I only came across it while surfing the Internet and decide to read through and as God will have it, here I am today.

My Advise: Just do what is right cos u never know who you are helping unknowingly. But if timidity is what you built ur life on, then just go to hell with your selfish mindset.

Hello guys,

I am not too happy but am sure all is well. I've been searching endlessly for schools that offer Masters Degree for HND students but all to no avail. I never realize how unfortunate HND certificate is compared to B.sc until now. I've been on this thread for a while, reading transcripts, suggestions, opinions etc. I thought i would have the same privilege to share my success stories like the rest. Its just so sad i can't visualize the dream coming true. I'm sorry am not being pessimistic, that's just how i feel right now. Congrats Ratchy, texrem etc.
Love this thread anyways....
Question for you bro.
Did u evaluate your transcript?
If not, evaluate your transcript, make enquiry to any school of your choice by sending them your transcript and ask them what courses u will need to take for pre-masters.

Or better still, after evaluating your transcript, send it to your school of choice and apply for undergraduate as transfer student after which you can apply for msc. Talking from experience, u have a better chance of getting your visa.

If you go through that line, u stand a better chance of getting employment than someone who came in only for MSc.

Hi guys, I'm Chigozie and I'm already schooling here in the US but I'm quite in a dilemma. I just finished my third year and when the Fall semester starts in August I'll be in my final year. However I'm an orphan, lost the only parent I have and it's been hard to pay my tuition. I have a scholarship that covers half of the tuition but not all so I've been trying to find options. I work during normal semester and from there I pay bills like rent, food, & all those essentials. I've spoken to the intl. office but they are really tight on funds so they can't increase my scholarship at the moment. I currently have a back bill that needs to be paid before I can enroll for Fall.

Back to the main topic, I spoke with a female friend like me who's Nigerian whom I met through my flatmate and you guys won't believe what they told me. She said I would have to escort and it pays well she even introduced me to someone who says if I want to be an adult movie model then no problem. This my friend escort as well but I'm confused right now. Should I do it please? I just want others opinion. Thanks in advance guys x
My dear, filing for Economic hardship is your best bet. Just go to the dhs website and download the form, tell them your story, go to your intl office to get a support document as requested on the form and submit accordingly. It takes less than 60 days to go though this.

After getting your work authorization and ssn, you can get a good job, apply for as many cc as possible to balance your tuition and then pay them back as time goes by. Don't lure yourself into something you will regret later. You can pm me if you are really interested in the Economic Hardship thing.

Hope this helps.
