Yay!!! Congratulations to you .... So happy that I've been seeing approvals... Mine is around the corner in Jesus name.

My little piece of advice . Pray , package your application well, do not leave anything out especially if you talked about it in your SOP and please read through the previous threads before asking a question that has already been answered. Or simply google a key word and type Nairaland at the end of it, some threads with same words would pop up . You can also check the first page of each thread, there’s a simpler way to search for things on the thread.Put in some effort and research online about the schools and their programs and admission policies .

Approval Alert!!!

And that is how I finally get to share my own testimony. It's been the Lord's doing and no doubt, marvelously marvelous in my sight grin

Timeline

Applied December 12 2018 after being refused October 1 last year.
Medical Request: February 7
Medicals Done: February 20
Biometric Validity: March 22
Passport Request: Just Now
School: Centennial College, Toronto
Course: Biotechnology

Reason for first Refusal: Purpose of visit

So, who says college applicants don't get approval? Of course, I have always known that the notion is far from the truth. The difficulty or ease lies on "times and chances" just like with any other application.

Should any college applicant have a query or clarification, I shall be more than willing to supply answer.

To a large extent, the school rank does play some role. Applicants going to schools that are highly ranked such as University of Toronto etc seldomly have issues securing TRV once their application is tight

Schonebaby:
For example it was after I secured a professor and have established very good contact with him. I was quite satisfied he is the kind of person I would want to work with for 4 years. 4 years no be beans grin shocked Then I applied. It was after I applied that I checked the ranking of my school -Queen's.
In retrospect, maybe it was a lack of foresight.....However I believe the program, research and funding is more important than the school (at least for Canada). My 2cents

Welldone aunty Sally

sillysassysally:
Hi Nairaland Family,
So far so good, we have the timeline of 8 people. Please if you have applied for a TRV, I would encourage you to share your timeline (which should include; the application date, application route, biometrics request date, date biometrics was done, medical request date, date medicals was done, date medicals was passed, and the current status). If you don't have all this information, you can just share the ones that you have and update the rest as you receive it.

This information would help us study or attempt to establish a pattern to how CIC operates.

We have made attempts to "calculate" processing times. (Please note that this is just an average based on the little sample we have. Your processing time may be faster or slower than the average). As we get more samples, I want to believe our calculations would be more "accurate".

Finally, If there is anything you think i should add to the data or calculate from the data, please share with me.

Also, please @Godatwork23 kingly share the date your biometrics was requested, the date it was done, and the date you did your medicals. @TheAfrikan @Oluwaseunbd and @Klem28 kindly share the date your biometrics was requested and the date you did it.

I don't know where he is now but I want him to know it's not luck. There's an Almighty God, a living God. He answers prayers. Thank you so much Frankrobben, God go do your own. And to all TRV hopefuls, God will answer everyone. There's something I used to do since I got my scholarship, any aeroplane I see, i always decree and declare that I will be in such a plane a month to my resumption . That was my method of faith for over a year now. Glory to God Almighty once more.

Exactly!!!

Would be nice if other applicants shared their timeline as well.
While CIC remains unpredictable, it would help us study or attempt to establish a pattern to how they operate.

Why not share your application timeline with us ?

Yay someone else going to Queen's.
Smith School of Business right?
I'm going for Master's of management innovation and entrepreneurship.

To be honest there's no definite timeline for applications whether online or paper.
On this thread I've seen less than a month and I've also seen 8months.
You should be good with time if you submit before the month runs out as the current processing time on CIC website has reduced since I applied, in the meantime; gather your documents and draft your Letter of Intent.

japhethGold:
I have applied for Master of Finance at Queen's and have been interviewed by the admission team on Friday. I am waiting for my admission letter which they promised to send to me this week.

I hope I can meet up with visa timing. How long does it take to process online visa application? My program starts in June 2019.

Hi Nairaland Family,

I was reading old threads and came across an old tradition that I believe would benefit all of us. If you are a 2019 TRV applicant, kindly share your profile so that we can rub minds together to establish a timeline as to how CIC operates.

This idea was initiated by jnyuwa02

Please see the template below to guide the information you’re to share

1. Sanwo-olu
Applied online- Jan 25th
Biometrics- Jan 31st
Eligibility started- Feb 24th
No medical request yet.
As of today current status still shows eligibility review and background check

2. Buhari555

Upfront medicals updated - Feb 20th
Eligibility review - March 1st

3. Rochas
Applied Online - Jan 5th

Passed medicals - March 5th
Haven’t heard back on final offer

Hoping for the best for us all!

Hi and congratulations on your offer of admission!

To answer question 2;
You will have to do your research by going to prodigy's website, they only give to some schools but you can see if McGill is on their list and if it is apply.
I wish you the very best.
sillysassysally:
Goooodddd Afternoon beautiful people!!!

I just got an offer from Mcgill University and my program starts on the 1st of June. I'm very scared that i wont have enough time to process all required documentation and make it to school early.

I have a couple of questions and would appreciate the help of members of this thread;

1. I plan on accepting the admission offer sometime next week when I have the acceptance deposit, but can I start my CAQ application even before I accept the offer?

2. Please i would like to get insights on how i can apply for a student loan through progidy finance.

Thanking you all in anticipation of your response.

Hello

Well I have applied for my visa with a loan from prodigy finance, I only did recently and still waiting
I added other source of funds to cover my living expenses though considering prodigy doesn't cover the full cost of attendance.

What University?

Jerido:
Good morning friends. I need help here on my visa application process based on sponsor. Prodigyfinance had agreed to honour me with loan but I don't know anyone who has the experience of it at Canadian embassy. Could you please help me out. Thanks.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by AAO7(f): 9:31pm On Feb 20, 2019
I can imagine. I just went through this but prevailed eventually.
I used alot of online solutions like small PDF and could only get it down to 5mb without loosing quality. I had to restart the process a few times... Pretty frustrating!

Here's my suggestion (I'm not tech savvy or anything) but scan using the lowest Dpi..I use 75dpi on my scanner
Then I compressed each document before merging (PDF merge)
Then after merging I compressed using Small PDF twice
Eventually I got to the 5mb
I tried to use pdfaid but the quality was reduced so I used docuhub and I only reduced the image quality to Bout a third; we came out just on 4mb and document quality was minimally affected.
It's hard to do a lossless compression especially when they are heavy documents.

Hello all good evening I’m currently facing problems with uploaded bank statements online on the Cic portal I’ve been battling compression of the 50pages bank statements for about 2 weeks now I’m even considering submitting via paper route can anyone proffer a solution or should I just go through the paper route

I can only answer this bit because my programme has a co-op semester as well.
If you're applying online, somewhere in the questioner you will be asked if your programme requires you to work?; Select "Yes".
You will be asked to provide proof of this (my school included it in my LOA) and it should be issued alongside your study permit at no extra cost.

Josade69:
Hello house,
Please how can one apply for the study permit and coop permit together. I'll like to do so as my master's course has a coop semester attached to it.

I would also like to find out if one can do additional work (not coop) while you are a student using your normal study permit, and how soon after arrival can you start work (the work is in the u university's health facility, so it's not a graduate assistant ship). Thanks guys for your expected responses.

That would be great and sufficient. I will advice you explain extensively in your LOE how the presented funds with your application will be spent during your first year of study in Canada and the possibility of funding for future years. By so doing, you will be able to tackle funds availability and accessibility by the applicant that might be raised by the visa officer.
It's a one year professional programme at Queen's university.
Can I write something along the lines of "15000CAD will be used solely to support me during my program. 10,000 CAD to cover living expenses for the duration of my study, 2,000 for my flight to Canada and about 3,000CAD for miscellaneous exprnses" ?
would that be considered vague?
