Religion / Re: Why Do We Go To Church!? by Aarondan(m): 9:47am On May 19, 2019
veeshine:
People come to church and have no clue why. They sing few songs, listen to a sermon, and go back to their lives without any change.
The problem is that they have no understanding as to why they are doing what they are doing.

If the common church attender comes to “worship” on Sunday but does not know why, then we have a problem. Why, then, should you go to church? To be more theologically accurate, why should you gather with the church — since the church is not the building down the street, but the group of believers?

SO WHY DO WE GATHER AS THE CHURCH?

We “church” to glorify God. We gather around God. Romans 12:1 commands us to present our bodies as living sacrifices to God. This lifestyle propels communal witnessing (1 Peter 2:9), repenting (Acts 2:38), worshipping (Psalm 150; Ephesians 5:19) and teaching (Colossians 3:16). We gather because we are one body, drawn together by God to be a people of God who live for God. We testify to God’s greatness. We disciple others through life together. We serve, teach and encourage, not just one another, but the world at large.

We do not ultimately come together for Sunday worship service to experience an emotional response that brings joy to us as consumers, though many Westerners gather for this very reason. Rather, we gather because God has united us.

We gather because we live life together in being effective witnesses to our local communities.

We gather because the diversity of the local church should mirror heaven to a dying, lost and sinful world. Christians are made to gather.

THE CHURCH AND THE DECEPTION OF THE MEDIA- IGNORANT VOICES FROM HELL!
By Leke Beecroft

And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Matthew 16:18

If you are a believer and you are puzzled by the continuing attack against the Church, then you need to learn a few things. However if you are unfazed by it, then you probably have an understanding of the times. Let me make it categorically clear that the Church will NOT lose this battle. Ask Pharaoh... ask Sanballat and Tobias...ask Judas Iscariot...ask Saul (St Paul)...ask the adversaries of Martin Luther...ask those who mocked Seymour....ask those who called Idahosa 'Mushroom Pastor'...ask those who coined the proverb "as poor as a Church rat" ...ask Jim Obazee...and many others.

Please join me on this trip...We are obviously in the last days, a time so well spoken about in scriptures. A time for the Rising or Falling of many depending on whichever side of the divide you belong.

Jesus referring to this period prophesied:

"And because WICKEDNESS shall abound, the love of many will FREEZE (Wax Cold)

But he that shall ENDURE unto the END, the same shall be saved.

Matthew 24:12-13.

We are seeing these today before our very eyes. Where ignorant voices from hell want to hear everything evil happen to the Church and do not wish anything good for the Church. Truly, this desire can NOT be the Gospel. I went back in my thoughts over the years while verifying with facts where memory seemed to fail me and I have brought this list for all to ponder.

Let us look at the issues considered good for news and bad for news concerning the Church over the years.

The ones considered bad for news are hardly heard while the ones considered good for news almost always go viral.

1. For many years, Deeper Life Bible Church (DLBC) has been feeding the poor for free especially during her Retreats - Bad for news.

2. Deeper Life builds a #3 Billion Naira Church facility to cater for her teeming multitudes-(The Church comes under attack for not giving the money to the poor by people who probably have never cared for others) Good for news!

3. Redeemed Christian Church of God develops a forest into a sprawling city (Redemption Camp) at no cost to the government helping to decongest Lagos-(No one is interested) - Bad for news

4. Christ Embassy inspires and sponsors hundreds of youths talented in the music ministry-Bad for news.

5. Churches establish universities ensuring that many otherwise jobless academics are gainfully employed - Bad for news.

6. Covenant, JABU, BIU and Landmark Universities are among the 10 cheapest private universities - Bad for news.

7. David Oyedepo Foundation now gives about N500 million annually in her 24 year old scholarship scheme to indigent students-Bad for the news.

8. Covenant University in less than 20 years ranks amongst the top universities in Africa ahead of many much older Nigerian Universities-Bad for news.

9. Pastor Adeboye and wife build rehabilitation centre in Epe for youths overtaken by drug addiction - Bad for news.

10. Adeboye and Oyedepo clock 50 and 35 years in marriage respectively-Bad for the news.

11. Pastor Chris gets divorced - news goes viral.

12. Sinach, Eben, Frank Edwards, Buchi, Samsung, Joe Praize all inspired by Pastor Chris-Bad for the news.

13. Daystar equips 20,000 kids as they return to school-Bad for the news.

14. Bishop Oyedepo subsidises transport fare in hometown to #20-#50 per trip-Bad for the news.

15. RCCG builds 80km road connecting Ikorodu with Redemption Camp/Lagos-Ibadan Expressway-Bad for the news.

16. Oyedepo builds #100 million Townhall in Omu Aran-Bad for the news.

17. Ayo Oritsejafor gives cars, money, Keke, sewing machines, grinding machines to the poor-Bad for the news.

18. Oritsejafor receives jet gift-(He must sell and give the poor)-News goes viral

What in the world are you talking about? When a man does good, he will be commended for it and no one hating on Oyedepo and his contribution to the community but just make it AFFORDABLE TO THE AVERAGE MEMBERS SO MAJORITY CAN ATTEND PLUS AND STILL GIVE OUT SCHOLARSHIPS TO THOSE WHO NEED IT BECAUSE U CAN WALK AND CHEW GUM AT THE SAME TIME.

And you don't have to be ashamed of me because I don't carry shame neither do I say or do shameful things, you just can't deal with truth because you made Oyedepo your god that can't be touched or spoken against.

#1: The Bible
The Bible, from the word biblia, meaning "the book" in Latin, is a collection of vastly different texts from different times, places, styles, and often contradictory sources, especially when you get into the weeds of the Old versus New Testament.

The Old Testament has some of the most violent and lustful stories ever told, starring the bearded badass Moses, while the New Testament's heartthrob Jesus taught us all that we need to love and perhaps punishments, depending on who you ask.

Yep, but it's true. Sorry, J.K. Rowling, but the Bible is the bestselling book series of all time, providing bedrock principles for 2.2 billion people worldwide. And honestly, don't be offended if I didn't mention your specific religious text, like the Quran or the Flying Spaghetti Monster Manual, because they all teach us something.

I'm happy that demonic novel, Quran is not there

You are not addressing the main issue. Church as it's practiced in Nigeria by Oyedepo and his like is much like anti christ. They only promote the interest of the elites in every of their establishments. Be it church, schools, canan city, access to them etc.

Those are not the hallmark of what christ admonished them to do. They are rather required to reach out to the needy with what they have and not to provide more and more to the rich. when you build these institutions from the sweat of all and sundry and turned back to fix the rewards and access to those things such that many of those who contributed to it and those who mostly need them cannot afford it, and even make yourself accessible only by the rich, I rather would see you as being anti christ.
How do you know the institution was built from the sweat of the sundry or you're just saying out of being bais?
Bro I pay my tithe and my offering as base on the commandments of God not to any any pastor, therefore, how it's been expended is not my concern.

Good evening. Please I need help, I have being coughing for up to four years now and it isn't giving any sign that it will go any time some.

I have done all tests that could reveal what the problem is but till date, I haven't gotten any solution. The cough started January 4, 2015 and till now, it hasn't gone. I have also done HIV test inclusive of the tests I carried out and it's negative.

I have used all drugs including traditional drugs. All recommended drugs I have used but no cure. My doctors are tired of me because 80% of my visit to the hospital is because of cough. I have being embarrassed severally due to this cough.

The only funny thing about this cough is that when I sleep at night, I will never cough throughout the night until I wake up in the morning. This has been the case for the past 4 years. Sometimes, after coughing for so long and I get tired, I just go to sleep and I will be fine. But once I wake up, it starts again.

Please anyone with valuable information on how I can get cure for this cough. I'm fed-up coughing for 4 years and still ongoing.

Please mod, help me push this to the front page. This is getting out of hand for me.
Good afternoon bro! I want to show something taken for granted but is working. At this point, I expect you to know that not every case can be cure medically, ask doctor
You need a physician who has never refer any case, his name is Jesus. I have this singular privilege to invite to Come to Shiloh at living Faith a.k.a winners chapel, it annual convention, tagged DOMINION and take your deliverance supernaturally against all forms of affliction via the words of God through his servent, Dr. Bishop David Oyedepo. Come and meet with this great physician who has refer any case, as the scripture says, he cure them all that was afflicted. If it cannot be cure by God then can never be cure by any mortal amidst the educational qualification Good bless you as you heed to these instructions. See you as the next testifier
