In the midst of pandemic in Nigeria, the Minister of Health Osagie Ehanire has hinted that 4 novel cases have been discovered today, 2nd of April, 2020 while the statistics of those discharged remains stagnant. On the number of the prospective Covid-19 patient to be discharge, the minster says that 10 prospective-to-be-confirmed case has been undergoing thorough treatment as they would, tentatively, be discharged soon. Speaking on the accreditation of isolation centers in the country, Ehanire says that thorough investigation is going on in suggested centers to be sure that they are capable of treating the pandemic, Corona virus. In the same vein, professionals, who are of international standard and have undergone appropriate training, have been designated to different centers. The minister has assured every Nigerian that the pandemic would be combated appropriately as there are lots of empowerment to take care of unforeseen cases. In making his statement of regret, the minister lament on the probability of having increased number of infected people because of numerous contact. By his professional statistics and judgment, there is a possibility that the number of cases in Nigeria might rise to 6,000. Though myopic and tentative, the minister says this based on the novel cases that have been confirmed today. With these cases, there are better chances that the people would have moved by and large in the country that is tantamount to them having contacts with good number of people. On looking for a way to curb this spread, the minister in his statement of update has assured Nigerians that there are agencies around the country that would be on the lookout for the people that might have had contact with people infected with corona virus patients. This is not to scare anyone but rather to be able to contain this deadly mayhem ravaging humanity. With Nigeria not an exception of the increase in the number of cases, the minister has urged people to submit themselves to treatment and never to hide any form of suspected cases. With increase in the number of people to be discharged, the minister is of the opinion that adequate treatment would be administered. As such, being early to treatment guarantees assurance of being healed of the pandemic virus. On the “stay at home” warning, he says that the people that are on business trip, vacation, or moving to their houses are permitted to travel. He says that it isn’t a total lockdown for people in this category. However, people should make sure they stay at home and observe the rules given to them. He says that when people are moving around, they would have contact which would increase the proclivity of contracting the virus. Optimistically, the minster says that the pandemic would come to an end very soon only that the containment would need to take a while. Besides, people infected would be given appropriate treatment. Thus, more people would be discovered but they would be treated accordingly. Stay home. Stay safe. Source https://insidenaija.com.ng/2020/04/02/covid-19/ |

In other to curtail the spread of the novel coronavirus disease in Nigeria, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, of Lagos, has urged residents to comply with the Federal and State government Lucknow order. This was released in a press statement delivered by the governor, on Tuesday, March 31, 2020, being the first day of the stay-at-home order by President Mohammadu Buhari, and commended Lavosians for their compliance. He said:" I would like to note the high level of our people’s compliance with this presidential directive. It has shown that we realise the enormity of the challenge that we are facing and the choice that we have made – fighting to stave off a massive attack of COVID-19 and staying alive to reclaim our life that has been disrupted by this unseen enemy. “The restriction, I would like to remind us, is to contain the community spreading of this disease by enlisting everybody in the fight and ensuring that many more do not contract it. “It is on this note that I would like to warn those who may wish to breach the restriction that their action is against the Public Health interest of all Lagosians. “On the medical front, I have been informed that all our COVID-19 patients are stable. Five of them were discharged on Monday and – by the grace of the Almighty – more will soon be out of hospital. “Our medical staff – exceptional men and women all – are doing their all to ensure that the patients do well, regain their health and return home to their families. We will be doing a lot to encourage them and lighten their burden by staying indoors. Only those rendering essential services, who must be well identified; are allowed to go out when necessary. “Our welfare package remains on course. As I have often said, those at the bottom of the economic ladder, the underprivileged and the most vulnerable among us, will not be left to fend for themselves at this difficult time, our relief package, which is to reach about 200,000 households in the first instance, has continued.” “Parts of the following local governments are being covered: Amuwo Odofin, Epe, Ikeja, Badagry, Ibeju – Lekki, Agege,Oshodi-Isolo, Apapa and Lagos Mainland. Others will soon be reached. “May I seize this opportunity to thank those worthy Lagosians, who have demonstrated the true spirit of ‘A Greater Lagos’ by coming forward to help at this time. “I salute our law enforcement agents who have been working tirelessly to ensure that the presidential directive is enforced. I enjoin them to continue in that spirit. They should be firm but courteous in discharging their responsibilities. “Again, I have no doubt that if we continue to fight in unity, COVID-19 will be defeated and we will come out victorious as we always do.” Source https://insidenaija.com.ng/2020/04/01/luckdown-sanwo-olu-seeks-cooperation-to-defeat-covid19/ |
