Seriously, how can someone be this stupid? As in,a whole governor? Of what economic or social importance,is this billboard to his state? So,taking a pic with Obama, has now become an achievement for a state governor,to the extent that it was used in creating a billboard ad? *sighs*
That billboard is obviously hurriedly done and mischievously too. Never is it Okorocha's handwork. Whoever did it was for some news and I suspect PDP loyalists. Let us wait and see what comes off it.

Did you see list of Jonathan officials as president , it was not in any way skewed in favour of his region compared to other administrations, the only thing he didn't do to please the north was cut his manhood and i am not even sure if he didn't even do that, his mistake was contesting in that election that he won, my brother that was his offence. Nigeria has been polarised since since independence, did you watch the video of the front line northerner that said any position that a northern could not fill they will look for a foreigner to fill it if there is no foreigner then they can consider any other region, feel free to remind me of GEJ comments or things that GEJ did that polarised Nigeria, it was polarisation that led to the civil war,it was the same polarisation that made Awolowo refer to Nigeria as an ordinary geographical expression, it is the polarisation that made it easier for pipes to be laid from the south to kaduna to build a refinery than for roads like the east West Road and other road in the south to be constructed, the same polarisation was the reason truck loads of murdered Nigerian 's was sent to their region long before the GEJ admiration. The polarisation you are referring to was a contraption of the press, yes Nigeria was polarised but Nigeria was polarised because a southerner was the president, I was in the north for sometime and the only word you will hear from the most of the northern youth right from when he took over from yaradua (rip) was Jonathan Danisca, Jonathan na banza and many more this was even before he had the chance to do anything, as far as the north was concerned the GEJ administration was dead on arrival. If we objectively look at Nigeria we will find that the leadership has always been skewed in favour of the north and wrongfully so my brother , this is my take on it.
I do not see appointment as development or favour. He appointed Igbos into many positions but ended up doing nothing for Igbos. He should have completed the East/West road or encouraged the upgrade of one seaport in South-south. Today everything has remained almost same way he met them in the South-South.

Saying that there are more Igbos outside Igboland than in Igboland is living delusion of the granduer. Lagos yes command high number of Igbo population but Igbos in Anambra are times two of Lagos Igbos.
Lagos is home to many ethnic group but the reason why Igbos seems to be dominating is because their investments and businesses are easily noticeable.
Many Igbos born in Lagos are mainly the reason but human being is not as many as people thought.

If Lagos is 20m in population where do Yorubas, Hausa, Edos, Efiks, Ijaws and other minority tribes from North and West Africa fit into.

The most densely populated areas in Lagos are the slums and shanties which Igbos rarely live in, not that Igbos don't live there but their population there are infinitesimal.

When people say Igboland won't enter Igbos I laugh, why do every christmas half the population of Igbos outside Igboland and Igbo cities move down to the villages yet makeshift structures are not made for them.
There are more empty houses in Igbo towns and villages than inhabited houses.
Even if all Igbos in Lagos, Abuja and Kano return today Anambra state will accommodate and still have more empty plots begging to be developed.

The key to everything is prudent resources management.
Yes you are right about Anambra accomodating Igbos but that is more of theory. If you read my earlier statement there is this tradition in land ownership that makes such arrangement very difficult. Maybe with ammended land use act that supercedes tradition it can work

enugu city is the trick....abia would have probably commanded the same attention but i think the neglect of aba necessisated some kind of flight of that city....as for imo i have nothing to say
I believe we should have gone past the stage of assumption and arbitrary insinuations. All parts of Igboland are having the same problem of mass migration. The most hit is Anambra followed closely by Imo. The reason is our traditional belief as well as over population. After Lagos, Anambra is the most densely populated State also followed closely by Imo but unlike Lagos, the high population is inherent and not as a result of influx of people from other places.

Enugu and Abia has high population of Imo and Anambra people but I consider such as good for Southeast as the movement is still within. The problem is that of Igbos parked in Lagos, Kano, Funtu, Kaura Namoda, Kaduna, Ibadan etc. They might be more in population than Igbos in Southeast. In fact if we are to believe Nigerian statistics, no Southeast State has as much Igbos as Lagos State.

If Jonathan had known...............wait a minute, did he not know? I will be surprised if he didn't, he had 6 years to build bridges across all the creeks of the Niger delta, not minding the consequence, he had 6 years to indirectly move the economic capital to the south south, he had six years to raise sustainable billionaires in the south south that can match billionaires from other parts of the country, he had 6 years to empower the Niger delta economically with every bias that he can muster, he had the chance to send serious minded Niger deltans to study abroad and have them come back to develop the region, but he was fooled into believing in one Nigeria, he chose to dine with his enemies at the expense of his over suppressed kinsmen only for him to come to his senses after losing election and some few days to hand over making a panic transfer of the LADOL project to bayelsa, I guess it dawned on him that he had nothing in his home to show for his escapades in the presidency.
Jonathan never believed in one Nigeria if his supporters actions is anything to go by. Nigeria was polarised by him because of 2015 ambitions. He refused to develop SS and fought Amaechi because Amaechi demanded for increased federal presence. History will prove Buhari did more for Southeast and Southsouth than Jonathan.

Jonathan actually made useless and lazy billionaires out of militants but maltreated the intellects who had something to offer the Niger Delta.

what's your take on what GMB said in US which is on record about not treating the regions that voted him equally with other REGIONS that didn't give him full political support. Bombing goes beyond physical bombs dropped in places. Implication is that development that would favour such regions would not considered or implemented. That in itself further divides the country because the last time I checked every Nigerian has a right to exercise his franchise. it's like saying because you offended your father her won't pay your school fees. It's totally uncalled for. And beleive me he will neglect such regions but I am not worried at all and do you know why: the North has ruled Nigeria that any other zone since independence yet the region remains the poorest and uneducated in the country.
Call me a wailing waiver if you like.
All I see happening in Nigeria today is the refusal of Jonathan's supporters to accept his failure and support Buhari to change Nigeria.

We need some of these back especially those domiciled in Lagos, Abuja. It's about laying the ground work to attract them, I think.
We can make our home have high disposable income by spending most of the money we earn in diaspora at home. The problem with Igbos is they spend most of their income wherever they live.

http://sunnewsonline.com/new/20-missing-100-buildings-vehicles-destroyed-as-flood-wreaks-havoc-in-anambra-community/

No fewer than 20 people have been declared missing
while more than 100 buildings and vehicles were
destroyed yesterday by flood which ravaged Oduke,
Ibollo and Owelleaja layouts in Obosi, near Onitsha,
Anambra State.
Oduke and Ibollo residents have been suffering the
devastating effect of severe flooding which they say
was caused by the wrong channelling of drainage by
a construction company that rehabilitated Ezeiweka
road, Awada Obosi in the past leading to a surge of
heavy floods into their area.
On Thursday evening, torrential rainfall that lasted for
about two hours left the entire area flooded leading to
several damages even as parents have been
searching frantically for their missing children swept
away in the flood.
When Saturday Sun visited the area yesterday, women
and children wept profusely while men engaged in
rescue operations. Some nursing mothers, whose little
babies were later rescued from the flood, were also
seen clutching the babies after receiving medical
attention from the hospital.
Angry residents of Oduke layout had earlier blocked
the busy Ezeiweka Obosi road that connects travellers
to the Onitsha- Owerri highway chanting war songs
while vehicular movements were stalled for several
hours.
The protesters said they voted massively for Chief
Willie Obiano during the last governorship election
that made him governor and called on him to visit
their area for an on-the-spot assessment of their
problems with a view to addressing them urgently be
fore they all perish.
Among the properties damaged in the flood included
two four-storey buildings still under construction at
Owelle Aja while several residential buildings, fences,
schools, churches and vehicles at Oduke and Ibollo
were either submerged completely or pulled down by
the rampaging flood.
Addresing reporters after taking them round the
submerged and damaged properties, Chairman of
Oduke Landlords Association, Nicholas Okechukwu
and his Ibollo counterpart, Chimezie Osuchukwu, in
their separate speeches, said that they have been
crying out to the Anambra State government to come
to their aid since 2013 till now but all to no avail.
They lamented that the problem of the area is man-
made disaster and tragedy foretold while they have
spent all within their resources to handle the situation
but help has not come from any outside quarter.
They lamented that that about 10 people have died
from the disaster since the problem started while they
have suffered untold hardship and economic losses
over the incident.
Putting the estimated loss of properties from the
current incident to about N2 billion, they called on the
Anambra State government to declare a state of
emergency in the layout and address the problem
holistically.
Also at the International Electronics Market, Onitsha
about 1500 shops and goods worth over N800m were
also damaged by flood.
According to the president of the market, Mr.
Izuchukwu Okoye, the flood came into the market
when the volume could not be contained by the
drainages along the Onitsha/Asaba expressway.
“Goods damaged were mainly from A and B lines and
we appeal to the state government to come to our
rescue”, Okoye stated.
Contributing, the Secretary of the market, Comrade
Damian Ogudike said: “We pay our taxes and levies to
the state government. The drainages are the problems
and the expectation is that the state government
should work on the drainages to be higher than they
are now”.
“You can see the traders insisting that the money they
paid to the government should be refunded to them
since their problems in the market are not being
solved”, the secretary revealed.

Igbos are quite diverse in everything. The Benin Igbos have a peculiar kingship structure that bares semblance to Benin except in few nomenclature found in individual communities. What of Crossriver Igbos that adopted "Ndi" prefix for settlements as against typical "Umu". It is a direct Igbo translation of "Ikot".

Why it is so hard for you to see through his pretenses blows my mind.
Silly idioit. I am Igbo and more Igbo than you. Tell me where I have instigated without provocation. Nobody has shown commitment on Igbo course like me amongst all of you. The simple thing is that I condemned Jonathan's 6 years of waste and Peter Obi's anti-Igbo stance. Jonathan is not Igbo nor did he do anything special for Igbos and does not deserve the hatred being poured on your fellow Igbo for his sake.

cjrane:
It is all about having a vision. Most of them started business just to provide 3 square meals for their families. Thus, they stopped thinking about building the business up as soon as they could eat 3 square meals from it.
Imagine if Innoson stopped at selling motorcycle parts in Nnewi simply because he could eat 3 square meals from remaining a petty motorcycle parts trader. Many Onitsha based business men are just in that category of visionlessness. They will import 20 containers of a product they can easily set up a factory at 33 or Nsugbe and manufacture for the country. Until the importation of that product is banned, then they are forced to think about setting up local manufacturing outfit
In Port Harcourt there's these brothers who run a retail chain that has been very successful. In fact up till this day, they are upgrading I have seen their branch in Owerri but heard they equakly have one in Aba. They go by the name of "Everyday Supermarket" or "Everyday Emporium". If such indigenous firm occupies that spot in the mall often occupied by Shoprite or SPAR it will be good.

AshiwajuFoward:
I will keep repeating it till it registers. You guys have already PEAKED in terms of your development in the SE, considering that there isn't much space and creativity going on there anyway. Some SW cities like Ibadan and to a lesser extent Abeokuta that you all love to hate have been urbanized with sprawling settlements since the 17th century and the buildings from those eras are still standing today. A little paint and change of roofing would make those cities look like any other old European city coz of the style of architecture they model. But inspite of these our cities are large and robust enough to accomodate the good, the bad, and the ugly and will stand shoulder to shoulder (and even best) your best ones in the SE.

Now, the SE on the other hand was prettymuch leveled during the Civil war, so you all had to REBUILD, hence the seeming 'developed' look of (some of, not all) of your cities. The whole place is littered with unplanned and ugly high-rises of a particular design (which I suspect is due to space constraints), with no sidewalks or pavements on your roads amongst other defects. And in spite of your opportunity to rebuild, your building designs are still very very ordinary (except for a few ambitious ones I've seen on the Imo state thread), even the supposedly new buildings aren't exempt from this dull and ordinary look.

But the SW has expansive land and space with emerging cities and estates that have some of the most creative and modern designs you will find anywhere in Nigeria, e.g these in a city in Ogun state:
I am one of the critiques of that particular design which I often termed Igbotic but still I can authoritatively tell you that Lagos apart those poor Southeastern buildings still beat the rest of Southwest by a wide margin. We do not have roads as a result of long term neglect but if you talk about houses, even villages like Igbere and Abiriba are more modern.

Lol. I will treat your ffvck up in bits and pieces. How can your ignorant a$$ compare Calabar and AKS to Benin for pete's sakes? ? Every other picture from there and indeed the SE are nothing but poo, which isn't surprising coz you all glory in poo. I'm gonna shyt all over your thread and I hope folks will forgive me coz you need to be shut up for good for your foolishness. Now here's what a real SKYLINE looks like, by world-class standards. Las-gidi baby cheesy:
Even though I am one of the biggest critique of Southeastern Architecture, it is out of place to bring Lagos if your intention is to compare typical Southeast and typical Southwest. The reasons are many.

That said only Akure is comparable to Southeastern cities. The rest of the cities in the Southwest have short houses with rusty roofs as far majority. The roads might be better than Southeastern cities but never the skyline, modernisation or architecture.
