betterABIAstate:I have been here and its beautiful but ABSU is finer. The most impressive thing about this under reported school is their well equiped lecture halls. Other public schools need to borrow some leaves from MOUAU on standard lecture rooms. |
We have long dealt with this topic on Nairaland. Igbo speaking people from Imo, Abia, Rivers and Delta States has 80% of Nigerian onshore oil but the bigger question is the ratio of onshore to offshore. Akwa Ibom for example has no oil onshore but has an offshore that already cancels our entire onshore. Another big question is how many are capped and how many are active in contributing to oil export. Igbos are not and have never been oil dependent people. It is only in recent years that we have witnessed elements of oil community disturbances but still very minimal. One of the major weapons used to divide Igbos is the availability of oil which resulted in splitting of communities between Southeast and South-South. These include Ndoki divided into Rivers and Abia, Asa divided into Rivers and Abia, Ngor divided into Rivers and Imo, Egbema divided into Rivers and Imo among others. |
eyeview:Those who are behind BH are gradually being arrested. It could end up with Jonathan having a hand. I just pray he was not involved but the October 1 bombing was his handwork |
Naija people too dey exaggerate. Even Abuja or Lagos cannot be like Dubai not to talk of Aba. They should talk about being like Lagos 1st. They even claimed Aba has 5 to 10million people. Abia as a State is probably around 4 to 5million people with Aba being slightly above a million. |
yang:Only a fool will write this nonsense or it could be that you are jealous of the investment being in Imo State. Igboland needs investment from other Nigerians to balance ours in their land. |
AustineE1:Isn't it ironic that the man whose regime it was delayed is GEJ. Actually blaming Northerners is only untrue if we must judge from history East-West road was built by Northerners 1st Niger bridge was built by Northerners Our refineries were built by Northerners Ph/Enugu express was by Northerners Onitsha/Enugu was by Northerners Seaports by Northerners Nigeria only needs a good leader for things to work but I support equal opportunity for all to become President. |
My wish is for the youths not to allow themselves to be used by disgruntled politicians to delay this project again. |
Where is the construction? |
IsraeliAIRFORCE:For now no. Lets see what future holds. |
transit4:Sorry we are Igbo Nigerians. |
asha80:Foreign direct investment of 3.5billion US Dollars is one of the highest in recent years. Let us pray it comes into fruition now that corruption is on decline. |
Construction work is said to have begun at the $3.6 billion Shell Petroleum Development Company’s (SPDC’s) major Gas plant project at Assa North – Ohaji South in Imo State. Meanwhile, Shell Petroleum, the owner of the multi-billion dollar gas plant, and Bortir International Company Limited, a subsidiary at the Dangote group of companies have opened a partnership deal on utilization of gas from the project. On Tuesday both companies led by Walter Weilenger, project manager, Shell and Ahmed S. Yakassai of the Dangote group, inspected the project site at Ohaji Local Government Area of the state. BusinessDay checks indicate that the major gas plant is sited on 200 hectares of land provided by Imo State, which was according to a request in June 2012 by the Managing Director of Shell, Mutiu Sunmonu. Sunmonu had appealed to Governor Rochas Okorocha for the state to provide the land as part of its collaboration for the project, expected to be commissioned in 2018, beginning with the phase one. On its part, the Imo State Government has assured Shell Petroleum Development Company and Borkir International Company Limited (a subsidiary at Dangote Group), of its guarantee of security and cooperation to ensure the project took-off and functioned effectively. “As you come to Imo, we would like to partner with you. We have set up a committee to liaise with Shell on the development of Assa Gas Plant. Imo Government is solidly behind you,” Okorocha said. In his speech, Walter Weilenger, project manager of the Assa North-Ohaji South Gas Plant project, Shell Petroleum Development Company Limited, thanked the state government for a warm welcome; and assured that the project would bring a lot of benefits to the people of Imo State. In June 2012, Sunmonu, Shell MD had said the gas plant would supply domestic gas to power energy plants across the country as well as generate massive job opportunities for Nigerians, adding that the project which would be executed in two phases will be completed in 2018. While soliciting the collaboration of the state government in handling of the project, he urged the government to play its part by providing 200 hectares of land for the project, including an enabling environment for the expatriates and workers to ensure a healthy collaboration between SPDC and the host communities. Sunmonu then promised that his company would always live up to expectation in the area of its Corporate Social responsibility (CSR) in the course of executing the project. http://businessdayonline.com/2015/07/shells-3-5-billion-assa-gas-plant-in-imo-set-to-kick-off/#.VajFsTNw3EI |

UnknownT:I wonder how our education system will ever be good if children of all public office holders school in Europe and US. We need a law that prohibits that. |
brooklyn49:That is why I was one of those that fought hard for Buhari's emergence. Nigeria has always had good policies on paper but corruption and impunity destroys implementation. Take for example the East-West road Wike has reached agreement with FG to rehabilitate. During Jonathan, Amaechi was attacked and called a traitor for doing same and denied the rights to do same. |
Elslim:No ministers and things are working. I think the necessity of ministers is open for debate. |
Just like EFCC, Power, Refineries and other sectors expect the bridge to be constructed without being politicised. Also expect some people to claim it. Sai Buhari! |
Governor Obiano has urged Julius Berger plc, the firm handling the construction of the second Niger bridge to expedite action in order to meet the time schedule for the project.Governor Obiano made the statement while inspecting work on the bridge at the Onitsha industrial layout end of the site. He expressed happiness that work has actually commenced at the site contrary to speculation that nothing is happening at the site.http://www.weeklypostng.com/2015/07/photosgovernor-obiano-visits-site-of.html?m=1

Charity they say begins at home. Why patronise South African wine when it is produced right here in Imo State. Let us encourage local manufacturers. This starts from Okorocha our Governor to the boys on the streets.

Wildrage:Jonathan's years are the worst in Nigerian history. I know things will be tough for Buhari because of oil crisis but our institutions will work again. Have you seen Buhari hunting opposition State Governors like Jonathan? That alone is enough for me from Imo and Rivers States. |
Sinnzu:Of course with all the might at his disposal. However I know Buhari will never act childish like Jonathan and his wife. I still remember when they were using all sorts of low lifes to insult Okorocha even ti the extent of backing Charlie boy to snatch mic from his hand. |
