PoliticsBuhari To Strengthen Amnesty Programme by abagoro(op): 5:20pm On Jul 14, 2015
ABUJA – President Mohammadu Buhari on Monday said that his government will not totally discard the amnesty programme for Niger-Delta region but will build on the good aspects of the Programme. This is even as he assured both foreign and local investors of his readiness to implement far-reaching reforms which he said will boost accountability and transparency in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry. Buhari spoke at a meeting with senior officials of Chevron led by the company’s President for Africa and Latin America, Mr. Ali Moshiri at the presidential villa, Abuja. The president also promised to effectively address the myriad of challenges in the sector. “We understand the situation in the industry and we will do our best to address the challenges affecting exploration, production and distribution of oil products in the country,’’ the President told the delegation. A statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu stated that president Buhari acknowledged that the Amnesty Programme was initiated by President Umar Yar’Adua to reduce violence in the Niger Delta region. The statement added that “his administration will also implement other measures to enhance security in the Niger Delta and optimize investments in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.” Speaking earlier, chevron president, Moshori urged President Buhari to restore the confidence of international investors in the industry even as he “identified improved security in the Niger Delta as key to increased investment in the oil and gas sector in Nigeria.” According to him, “Chevron which has 36.7 percent interest in the West African Gas Pipeline Company Limited, was keen to support Nigeria’s gas sector and bring more electricity to Nigerian consumers.”

PoliticsI Won’t Use APC FG To Unleash Impunity On My People —okorocha by abagoro(op): 5:14pm On Jul 14, 2015
Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has said that the
Imo state government will not use the All Progressives Congress,
APC, Federal Government with President Mohammadu Buhari in
charge to unleash impunity on the people of the state.
The governor, who spoke when the traditional rulers and political
leaders from Mbaise, where the governorship candidate of the
PDP, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha comes from, paid him solidarity visit at
the Government House, also said that the election petition tribunal
sitting in Owerri, handling his case with the PDP candidate, should
also be allowed and encouraged to do their work to the best of
their ability.
He dismissed claims in some quarters that he asked the
traditional rulers from Mbaise to tell their son, Hon. Ihedioha to
withdraw his petition, saying such never happened.
He told the monarchs that his government has set up a committee
to look into the case of the 40 traditional rulers, who dragged him
to court and swore fake affidavit over an action he never took.
He therefore, asked the traditional rulers involved not to allow
themselves again to be deceived by the old style of the PDP where
they used the PDP government at the centre to do some annoying
things in the state.
He added that such ugly development had come and gone since it
is the APC that is in power at the federal level at the moment.
His words: “Traditional rulers still operating on the wrong
impression created by the PDP in the state would have themselves
to blame. The Ezes, who have continued to fight the government
will have themselves to blame.
“Those, who believed that they had relationship with the president
of the PDP extraction, are no more in power today.
“But I cannot do what they did because I want to show leadership.
I am proud of traditional rulers from Mbaise.
He assured the traditional rulers that the University of Agriculture
in their area will become realistic, and that Mbaise people have
benefited much from the free education policy of his government
and other projects judging from their large population.
He said that in his first tenure, the Mbaise clan alone had three key
commissioners, including that of finance, and had the chairman of
APC in the state.
The governor accepted to attend the 2015 Iriji Mbaise (New Yam
Festival) because, according to him, his love for “Mbaise people is
unconditional,” adding that Mbaise people have made tremendous
contributions to the development and leadership of the state.
He assured that he would continue to respect and regard the
traditional rulers in the state.
The traditional rulers had said earlier through the leader of the
delegation, and deputy chairman of the state Council of Ndi-Eze,
HRM Eze Chidume Okoro that they were solidly behind the
governor and his Rescue Mission Government in the state and that
the governor should not allow the action of few politicians from
the area to make him feel that he is not loved by Mbaise people.

Sorry guys, but I've seen that the way Nigeria is currently set up, nothing good structurally can really come out of it, all you'd be doing is patch-patch work. For example, your $200 million crowd funded airport will not have money to run on, and it will eventually deteriorate like MMA. The best thing would be to create 'manageable' structures until the environment lets up. Look at Tinapa, bad planning and a gang up of the politicians in the north killed that off so easily. All the Julius Berger construction and Dangote cement produces shoddy third rate work.
Sometimes I get amazed at the way some Igbos blame Northerners for everything. Tinapa's problem is accessibility as a result of bad road connecting Calabar and the rest of Nigeria. The South has ruled from 1999 to 2015 and Tinapa was completed around 2006. When I was complaining that Jonathan should help us in road infrastructure like Enugu/Onitsha highway or Nnewi to Okigwe whuch transverses through Igbo hinterland or even the 2nd Niger bridge most Igbos were unconcerned.

Jonathan is from South south but was busy fighting his people who demanded for the needed attention. Under Buhari a lot of things will work in Nigeria and especially in the Southeast. It is just unfortunate he came in when the last Government has lavished oil boom proceeds.

Ask yourselves who built the 1st Niger bridge, the 1st East-West road, The 4 refineries and the seaports and how many years it took.

PoliticsMy Dad Taught Me How To Steal Anambra Teen 25/06/2015 by abagoro(op): 1:11am On Jun 28, 2015
A suspected 15-year-old teenage armed robber, Kosi Ebosie,
who was arrested in Umuchu town in Aguata local government
area of Anambra state, has confessed to the crime, saying he
inherited the gem from his father who was also a notorious
criminal in the area.
Ebosie
told
reporters that his family members were not surprised of his
taken to crime as they used to tell him that he was the carbon-
copy of his father adding his dad was a known criminal.
The suspect was apprehended along with his two gang
member, Chima David, 17 and Onyedika Ikesinachi, 16, on
Tuesday, June 23, 2015.
The teen robbers were arrested after they robbed St. Andres
Anglican Church, at Umuchu. They reportedly robbed the
church with arms during the early morning mass.
According to PM News, the trio ran out of luck vigilantes and
youths, who have been keeping vigil in the community
following an incident where markets in the community was
raided, caught the teen robbers.
Ebosie said he dropped out of school to take to robbery which
he described as being a lucrative business. He disclosed that
he do not see himself leaving robbing because it as becomes
part of his life.
He further stated that he discovered at a very tender age that
the urge for stealing is strong in him adding that his father had
to sent him out of the house because of his insatiable quest for
stealing, which eventually led him to joining the gang.
One of Ebosie accomplices, David said that his entry into
robbing started when he was stealing people’s fowls in the
community where he lived. Confessing that he normally eat
four fowls per week until the trap he used in catching the
fowls mistakenly caught a dog.
Following the incident that exposed him, he had no choice but
to run away from home adding that he found a safe haven in
the gang.
The suspects were, however, said to be cooling their feet at
Umuch police station. The divisional police officer of the
station was not available to comment on the incident.
However, a police source decried the growing number of
teenagers in the state who have taken to crime.

Sometimes I ponder at how low Igbos have stooped and the cause but I am yet to comprehend. Jonathan actually has a hand in the bombings and will be exposed. For awhile now I have been engrossed with this thought of Governor Amaechi's signature project for his 8 years rule as a governor in Rivers state. Signature project are landmark project executed for the benefit of the people or the ruling class. For Mr. Akapio of Akwa-ibom, it was world class roads, stadia, hospital and hotel. For Governor Mimiko, it is the famous mother and child hospital, world class mega primary schools etc. For Fashola it was the road he built and many infrastructure too numerous to mention. For Jona Jang of Pleateau state, it was a 15 billion naira governor's office. Abeg na wetin be Amaechi's signature project in Rivers?
Amaechi built much more solid roads than Akpabio as well as much more solid schools numbering over 500. These are not hidden as they are everywhere. Reduced unemployment in Rivers as well as the biggest real scholarship scheme for Rivers indigenes abroad. You cannot see a Rivers man anywhere working as househelp or gateman. He stopped youth restiveness and "marching ground" which accelerated the growth of Port Harcourt as a city for non-native investors.

Eight months strike: Anambra to recruit doctors from abroad

http://www.nigeriancompass.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=6671%3Aeight-months-strike-anambra-to-recruit-doctors-from-abroad&catid=54%3Anigeria-today&Itemid=594

Following its inability to persuade doctors working in state
hospitals who have been on strike for eight months to return
to work, the Anambra State Government has decided to
recruit doctors from South Africa, Ghana and India to fill the
vacuum created by the striking doctors. Sources said that the
decision was taken during a joint meeting between the
government and senior officials of the Ministry of Health.
Only last week, some officials told journalists that the
government had exhausted all avenues for negotiations with
the striking doctors and had resolved that recruiting doctors
from foreign countries was the only option left to government.
The officials felt that recruitment of foreign doctors into the
health sector would stem the tide of high rate of infant deaths
in the state, with over 80 infants losing their ives since the
doctors strike began in February, this year.
An unconfirmed source disclosed that the state government
also plans to pay off all arears of the doctors' emoluments
before embarking on the recruitment exercise, as a way of
dispensing with the services of the striking doctors.
Contacted, an executive member of the Nigerian Medical
Association (NMA), Dr. Anyaso, said the decision of the state
government to recruit foreign doctors had been
communicated to them some two months ago, saying they
were not disturbed with the news.
He added: “We remain resolute on our stand. We are waiting
to see them act on their resolution. Do you know how much it
would cost them to pay the wage bills of those foreign
doctors, which we understand, would be in hard currency? We
are waiting for them. Our plan B action would soon be
announced.
“If the state government pays us half of what they will pay
the foreign doctors in hard currency there will be no cause to
go on strike.”
Doctors working in government hospitals in the state are still
on strike since February, this year, over the non-
implementation of consolidated salary structure, which other
state governments.

I wonder why all the successive governors in SE decided to shun Mbakwe's doctrine.
I was still very small when Mbakwe was the governor of old Imo State (present day Abia, Imo and some parts of Ebonyi states) and all his programs were very productive and impacted directly to the people, but i wonder why these SE governors that were already adults when Mbakwe's was running Imo State couldnt find single leave to borrow from the genius. Its very unfortunate i must tell you, its very very unfortunate the present crop of Igbo leaders are worst than being traitors. They are myopic and also move with blind political groupies and cheerleaders while barricading the innovative, intelligent and enlightened ones among us.

As a kids i used to hear my dad grumble over Zik's political protege Jim Nwobodo of ( Nigerian Peoples Party) fighting then Vice President Alex Ekwueme (National Party of Nigeria) while Mbakwe (National Party of Nigeria) was busy developing Imo State.

Am beating my chest to this that we Igbo NLers can handle our various states better than our present crop of useless and myopic governors.
check most of us here and the type of policies we are formulating for our states and check the directions those running our states are taking us to.
Most of us here are in their late 20s and early 30s yet we all sound as if Mbakwe mentored us despite being nothing more than toddlers and sucklings when Mbakwe was holding sway.
Go to Twiiter and follow Onye Nkuzi, the dude could be in his mid 30s but he a baby Okpara and Mbakwe combine,

What could be the problem, how do we break this handicap and make serious inroad toward the governance of our dear Igbolandhuh
The Mbakwe formula failed just like everything that involved Government doing business. The only surviving legacy was Concorde Hotel at the expense of successive Governments. The best option remains wooing investors and giving them support. There are a lot of Igbos outside who can fund profitable business ventures and all they need do is to make Igboland their headquarters while still maintaining branches elsewhere.

We need to invest home. Thats all.

So you allow people to decide your ethnicity? Lol! Other Igbos are not treating us fine, so we are no longer Igbos. Gowon made Ikwerre an ethnic group recognised by the Nigerian constitution, so we are now Ikwerre ethnic nationality.

People push you around, and you fall over wherever they push you, you have no sheer will of your own. You couldn't compete amongst the Igbos, so you chose to establish your own ethnic group, where you will face no competition? Lol!

No group of Igbos were more neglected than Ebonyians, yet they knew who they were, the easier option would have been to deny their Igbo identity or blame their slow start on other dominant Igbo groups. But they didn't, slowly they are picking themselves up, and forcing the rest of the Igbo nation to give them the respect they have earned. That's what it means to be Igbo, and that's what you lots lack. It's the competition that forces everyone and group to be the best of what ever they are,the weak gets marched on by the strong, weakness is not tolerated, and by striving to be better/ best, the whole community is edified, no weaklinks.

Btw, you are no longer boasting about Ikwerres being better of than Ndiigbo?

*grins*
Inside Igboland there exists a deeper Igbo that unites against smaller units. That is the major reason why sometimes question of the true Igbo identity often comes to play. Take a look at Abia State where these deeper Igbos ganged up to deny Ngwa, Ndoki or Asa from producing Governor. The same people have been ruling and when eventually it was concluded to produce Ngwa, an Aro man was brought forth to replace him. Ngwas held meeting with other Igbos to reach a compromise on candidature but they claimed no Ngwa man is worthy to be Governor.

Ikwerres did well to gain separate identity to protect themselves from the deeper Igbo gang up. A situation where they outnumber you in your land and then want to determine your King and how you live. That is very unfair.

Still boils down to what I've always said.

1) Oga Jonathan please develop Niger Delta with your remaining 2 years and stop wasting all the money on retaining power.

2) Grant the States economic autonomy so that dependence on oil will reduce as States will fend for themselves. The offshore goes to FG so your share remains.

3) Invest more on Agriculture and Agricultural/biotechnology courses in our higher institutions. Make Agriculture the most attractive employment for youths.

4) Allow our refineries function so that we can use the oil ourselves if they refuse to buy.

5) Encourage the Aba shoes and allied products because that could be our next highest foreign exchange earner. Rebuild the city and create a condusive industrial area with access to standard machinery.

6) The "Kano Pyramids" and Western Cocoa can be revived if my point 3 (give priority to Agriculture) is well applied. Its possible if Obasanjo could do it with cassava.
That was my advice from 2013 which Jonathan could not get hold of because he was surrounded by liars. Buhari has already done number 4 but I have my own suggestion for Buhari which is different from Jonathan. The most important is for him not to seek 2nd term but focus on giving Nigeria his best 4 years. We shall be grateful. Just like Jonathan, Buhari's downfall will start from the day he tries to appease people to remain in power 2019.

That is the question I expect answers to.
Which State has done what you wrote? Only God knows why you guys hate Imo State and our Governor but the truth is that all of Nigeria has the problem above and it has to do with Federal Government of Nigeria. Under Jonathans admin everything was war including investments in opposition States.

Like I wrote earlier, now Buhari is in charge we shall see what real development is. Aba already has power generation capacity instituted by Obasanjo which could not come into fruition owing to same petty politics of Jonathan era. Under Buhari all the power plants will work and all the refineries will work. It will help accelerate industrial growth in Nigeria.

As for development Imo is a fairly developed State by Nigerian standard but has a long way to go. It however is far more developed than Enugu State and hence should never be discussed like it is retrogressive when compared with Anambra or Enugu where people live in hell.
