The reason we are still borrowing is because subsidy removal is a tiny piece of what is required to run the country. Did you look at last year and this year's budgets? Subsidy removal only lowers our operating costs, it does not remove it. For example the Nigerian budget is about 30 trillion Naira, subsidy savings would give about 10 to 15% of that, where the rest wan come from? Taxes, investments, etc., now look at the economy, no light, no security, does that look like a place that can generate enough funds to sustain a 30 trillion Naira budget?
