givedemwotowoto:
Because when they busted him, he ran back to Nigeria and was communicating on phone with them and through a lawyer. Because IRS was after their money, they focused on forfeiture of what they already had in the account because it was the fastest route. Prosecuting him will cost more money since he already escaped abroad, and prosecution for drugs means forwarding the case to the DEA after doing all the hard work. At the time, US agencies weren’t sharing information too much. It was after 9/11 that they passed laws forcing agencies to share information.
Bunch of hogwash, Tinubu was never busted for drugs, the entire premise of his case comes from his role as an accountant, he was a money washer, if you know what that means then you know his entire case with the feds was about illicit funds and money laundering. There was no need to escape abroad because it was basically a level 1 case and similar cases resulted in forfeiture not jail term at the time.

Ask yourself this simple question, why would the feds return 70% of the money they seized back to him? The charges he was facing were 1) Money laundering (18 U.S.C. § 1956); 2) Using funds from unlawful activity (18 U.S.C. § 1957); 3) Bank fraud (18 U.S.C. § 1344); 4) Failure to file tax returns (26 U.S.C. § 7203); 5) Lying to federal agents (18 U.S.C. § 1001); and 6) Conspiracy (18 U.S.C. § 371).

Does that look like a drug indictment? Go and watch the series Ozark, you would undertsand the role of a money washer better!

Old man I see you're lost in denial. People like you could have been emancipated mentally if only you took your history lessons seriously but instead you relied on the words of village drunks who can not read or write.

Read about the great Benin empire and know the exploits of the oba of Esigie and how his military garrison conquered yorubas even unto dahomey.

Then you'll know where I come from
Show me where this was written in history apart from interviews from those same village drunkards you mocked grin grin grin

Why are we still borrowing from foreign nations even after subsidy Removal ?
You thought the subsidy Removal was to better the economic situation of the nation ?
Nope!
They Removed the subsidy to enrich themselves with the funds
Youre right there needs to be transparency on what the subsidy gains is being used for. The reason we are still borrowing is because subsidy removal is a tiny piece of what is required to run the country. Did you look at last year and this year's budgets? Subsidy removal only lowers our operating costs, it does not remove it. For example the Nigerian budget is about 30 trillion Naira, subsidy savings would give about 10 to 15% of that, where the rest wan come from? Taxes, investments, etc., now look at the economy, no light, no security, does that look like a place that can generate enough funds to sustain a 30 trillion Naira budget?

Bmaster:
the reforms Tinubu and his government makes are good and the intent was good too,but they go about it in the wrong direction.
Infact, both the loan, the upgraded airports and the easiest procession of visas is for the elite class, how about the middle and lower class of citizens ?
If Tinubu wants to Rewrite his name on the good books of Nigerians, let the cost of petroleum products be reduced to #350 a liter,Let dollar rate to naira be brought to #800 or below.
Let insecurity be dealth with head-on.

The stock market you're talking about is useless to a hungry old woman in the rural villages.
The standard capital of a country you made mentioned of is equally useless to the poor people in the rural villages.
Yea just wave a magic wand and all these would be accompllished as if they are not dependent on the economy. USD to Naira cannot be 800 because our economy does not produce shin shin apart from oil. Petrol cannot be 350 because once again your country is relying on imports, even with Dangote we are still heavily reliant on importing and without subsidy, the true price becomes apparent. It costs Dangote more than 400 Naira per liter to produce what we consume, no way he would produce at a loss!

Theories are sweet and if Tinubu actually wanted to be popular, he would leave subsidy and allow the country to continue in status quo, Nigerians love blindness and as long as things are mangeable nobody gives a flip about the future but as an accountant, T-pain just couldn't let it go, he had to reason like an accountant hence the reality shock most Nigerians are experiencing now! IT'S GOING TO GET MUCH WORSE BEFORE IT GETS BETTER!

Poverty oriented mindset, go abroad and see your mate own a full house with luxury car and a job that pays over 160 million Naira per year, naturally such a woman would marry a man in similar status or better.......Na poverty dey worry some Nigerian men hence why they get intimidated by a successful woman.

T-Pain and his goons are just borrowing as if it's monopoly money, the next governemnt is going to have a huge hole to dig out from whether it's 2027 or 2031.....GBESE!

After the 2027 election some people will become poilitically dead, this ADC won't last beyond 2027 too many egos and if they lose, I anticipate 30 to 40% of the party would decamp to APC.

The interesting thing here is how similar this is to 2019, will Atiku step down? Would Obi be vice presidential candidate? Perhpas a repeat of 2023, will Atiku remain adamant and would Obi leave again to contest elsewehere? Meanwhile the ones to suffer are the Nigerian voters, opposition that can't get its shit together means the incumbent gets a free stroll to victory.....SHAME!
SportsRe: Why Do Americans Call Football 'Soccer'? by abbey621(m): 1:00am On Jul 18, 2025
FreeIgboho:
That's the question - why couldn't it have been so in the US? Because soccer doesn't require any special equipments. Ghetto kids could be playing it. It is a REAL mystery. No other sports in US is reserved for women like soccer. It is as if they don't see it as a masculine sport for some mysterious reason!
Why is the sky blue? Why is T-Pain still alive? Why is my aunty not my uncle? Dude you're asking funny questions grin. Gymnastics has more women in it than men even more skewed than soccer. US is not Nigeria, no male kid is ever thinking of soccer over basketball or American football, it's all about history and popularity. The same reason majority of 9ja kids are not thinking of tennis over soccer. It has nothing to do with masculinity.

For US kids, it's about popularity and the chance to be like their idols, when it comes to soccer in America, you can't really find any idol because the sport is still young less than 35 years since it became mainstream but in basketball, you'll hear names like Wilt, Dr.J, Bird, Jordan, Abdul-Jabar, Mikan, Naismith and even some names going back as far as 80 years.
SportsRe: Why Do Americans Call Football 'Soccer'? by abbey621(m): 10:22pm On Jul 17, 2025
FreeIgboho:
So question I asked you is, why are other non-lucrative sports NOT also women-only sports? Why is soccer not a women's sport in Nigeria?
Wetin concern USA with Nigeria? Even as a toddler in Nigeria, you're indoctrinated into soccer male or female, from watching to actual participation yet less than 20% of all females in 9ja actually plays or played soccer.

Next, can you mention the non lucrative sport that is not dominated by women in the USA? Is it gymnastic? Athletics?
SportsRe: Why Do Americans Call Football 'Soccer'? by abbey621(m): 9:09pm On Jul 17, 2025
FreeIgboho:
How does this explain it? It doesn't. I googled it as seen below
How does that contradict what I just said, even with the initial government funding it is still not a lucrative sport for Americans unlike basketball and American football. The men will never forego these sports for soccer lai lai!
SportsRe: Why Do Americans Call Football 'Soccer'? by abbey621(m): 9:01pm On Jul 17, 2025
FreeIgboho:
So WHY is it only women traditionally play soccer in US and they usually beat the whole world?
I just explained it to you, men sport has many better and lucrative options while women sport the option is very limited. Even the most popular women sport which is gymnastic, na peanuts dem dey earn.
SportsRe: Why Do Americans Call Football 'Soccer'? by abbey621(m): 6:17pm On Jul 17, 2025
FreeIgboho:
My question is, why is it that it is girls that traditionally play it in US?
Men have better sport to play, American players make more money in American football or basketball than they do in soccer. It's all about sponsors and the amount generated. In America, Messi or CR7 will never be as popular as Michael Jordan or Lebron grin

Electoral victories or Political advantage goes hand in hand with Numerical strength!

How many are Yorubas or Hausas in the SouthEast. Out of a probable population of a Total of 25 million People living in the 5 SE states,Yorubas are not up to 60,000 in the entire SE!! less than 0.01%!

How do you expect them to hope to contest elections.

Nobody is stopping them if they give it a shot!!

Now to the issue of "no man's land";

Just because a few ill-informed people...a few actually(even on Nairaland)...spoke carelessly in an attempt to remind people that Lagos, being a former FCT, is a melting pot of All Nigerians, does not mean that Trouble makers should start bandieng the lie that the entire Igbos sees Lagos as a "No man's land"

It' is the Handiwork of divisive politics....using vile propaganda...that is pushing that narrative. Many are falling for it...you inclusive.

Igbos do not see Lagos as "no man's Land" since time immemorial(That's why they don't contest for governorship post despite having the constitutional right and the numerical strength.GRV is not Igbo oo)

So when divisive politicians take advantage of a misunderstood comment by one or two non-indigenes,this is what you get.

See?
You're still not acknowledging the crucifix of the matter.....Whether it is one or 10 or even 10,000 people that repeated that line of no man's land, the group as a whole should have come out with a statement that rebukes it......You don't go to an event, your family insults the host and you expect it not to reflect on you! What would it cost Igbo leaders to debunk such statement? Rather, what we see is more fuel being added to the fire as evidenced by the last election, after winning the presidential votes in Lagos, una still use that tired line of Lagos na no man's land resulting in the overwhelming rebuff in the governship election.

Further your issue of strength in numbers is laughable, we are talking about the mere chance to contest at a primary you're talking about actually winning. Like seriously? You've got to reach the table first before you can eat, in SE non Easterners won't even be allowed to reach that table! Okay even if politics na strength in numbers like you said, what of chieftancy? What of owning land? Over 80% of Eastern land is considered off limits to Yorubas or Northerners.....Where's the sense in that?

Overall, respect is reciprocal, Lagos has been far more acccomodating to y'all than y'all have been accomodating to outsiders when it comes to political matters,
PoliticsRe: Ajeromi Ifelodun LG Renames Many Streets (Before & After) by abbey621(m): 4:35pm On Jul 17, 2025
DmonSlayer10:
What is "Respect your host"?

Does "respect" mean that Igbos and their interests should not be seen and or heard. They should not live freely in their country? They should not buy properties? They should not vote and be voted for? They should not freely associate among themselves and have a leader in their various cultural and ethnic unions?

Are you serious?

How do they "Disrespect" their hosts? How?

Instead of condemning what is wrong...as a Civilised person...you are there bringing shame to our collective humanity
Respect means don't call a place no man's land and start chest beating that all the indigenes there are tenants while you and your people are there landlords. It's never done, not in China, Turkey, Russia or majority of European countries. The disrespect only fueled the disdain and if we're being honest, charity should begin at home right? When will a Yoruba person be allowed to contest for local government chairman of an Eastern state not to talk of governor?

I mean if we're talking about living freely in the country and being seen/heard, what's good for the goose should also be alright for the gander!
