Good day my fellow educators. I teach in a private school and recently a female student of mine told me she has been having vaginal discharge and itches. She wasn't abused, I guess it's an irritation or something. So I advised her to confide in her mother so they can take her to run text, after informing the mom, she said her mom didn't take her serious and just discarded the issue. I really feel bad for her situation, and I'm worried that if I interfere by taking her to run test, her parents may not be happy when they find out. Please I need sincere advise on how to help her because she is in serious discomfort. Thanks |

Keeky08: Lol. It's possible she took after someone in your family. But if she's meant to be dark, there's nothing you can do about it. Personally I don't believe creams can change babies skin colour (with the exception of those who bleach their babies skin). My first daughter was light skinned as a baby but she started getting dark when she started school. I had a friend whose baby was much fairer than my daughter when she was born but today, her skin colour is same with my daughters colour. Don't worry yourself too much |

Goldie50: So sorry about your sore nipples. Don't really know the remedy for sore nipples but I know it gets better with time, my nipples were really sore few days after delivery that I even dreaded giving my daughter the left breast to suck. I noticed that the pain is less when she latches well , so always ensure your baby's mouth covers the areolas and not just the tip of the nipple. 3 Likes |

IamGreen1: When is her due date exactly. Though I normally go with the one given to me by my doctor using LMP. If her due date has passed with few days, she can wait for one week, as long as there's no issue with the scan, I think it's better she waits and fall into labour Naturally 3 Likes 1 Share |

Health / Re: How Do I Handle This Doctor That's Playing With My Health by AbbynHummy(f): 1:19am On Jul 24, 2021 |
Oralissue10: Most Nigerian Doctors are like that, they allow you to waste your money and not that the money is going into their personal pocket (federal government teaching hospital). I remember one time I went to the hospital for some complaint, I met a female doctor, she was so nice and even considered my economic status when I told her I was job searching, she just told me to run few tests first so that she can see the results before she proceeds as a result I didn't spend much money. But some will tell you to carry out uneccesary test. Few weeks back I took my baby girl to the hospital, she was having discharge from her left ear, she wasn't running temperature and she was fine just the discharge from the ear. I went to the hospital in the morning (UBTH) and finally met the doctor around 1pm, this doctor (I guess he was a student doctor) used more than one hour to ask me questions not even related to why I was at the hospital. After everything, he didn't even examine my child's ear, he just said my daughter has an ear infection and she will be admitted. I told him right away that my child won't be admitted because she is not sick, had it been she's running temperature or she isn't feeding well maybe I would have agreed, I can't admit my newborn baby who isn't sick (people even go to the hospital healthy and come back home sick, because of the unhygienic environment) I remember when I gave birth to my second child (in a private hospital) the day we were discharged, I noticed a mosquito bite on my baby's face, few days after we got home she became sick, took her back , and test revealed she had malaria 2++, I told the doctor that it was at the hospital mosquito bit my child, the doctor was arguing with me that it isn't true. Back to the story! So the doctor later ordered some test, after he has gone round to ask his colleagues what to do, he took a swab of the ear and later came to collect blood sample, I ended up carrying out 3 tests and they were expensive, the least was #1500, my mind told me the test weren't necessary but I just didn't want to take any chances. The doctor prescribed an antibiotic too. We started the antibiotics and went back for the test result three days later, can you believe that one of the test result that I used my hard earned money to carryout was missing, I was told at the lab that a certain doctor came to collect all the test for that day and my child own was among, I almost cried because I went alone to the hospital with my baby who was just two weeks, the stress was just too much,I was running around from the children's clinic to the lab and from the lab to the clinic. I went to the lab twice and even almost caused a scene there, until they brought out their record, they even wrote the name of the doctor who collected the test result. I went back to the clinic, the result was no where to be found, the funniest thing was that the doctors were not even bothered. The test was full blood count, I told them that I didn't pluck the money I used in running the test from tree, so they must provide the result, I would have caused a scene there oh if not that my husband called and told me to just forget about it, now the ear swap showed a bacteria infection and the doctor told me to continue with the antibiotics that was prescribed before by the student doctor, and the test result indicates that the antibiotic is resistant to the bacteria been treated, the doctor even told me that if the infection doesn't clear up they'll refer me to ENT. And yes, the infection didn't clear up, I had to go back last week Saturday for a referal to ENT, I was like they should have just referred me to ENT initially if they know they don't have the equipment to check the ear to see what the inside was like, they allowed me to spend my money on uneccesary test and even allowed me to waste 7days giving strong antibiotics that was resistant to the infection to my daughter who was just two weeks old. Well, I took the referral to ENT and the doctor prescribed antibiotics eardrop, I'm praying this works. |

Rockstar07: She shouldn't be scared. Let her try the injection first, every woman's body is not the same, the fact that Mrs A reacted to it doesn't mean that Mrs B will react to it. I have used the two months injection and I didn't experience any negative side effect. Withdrawal method and condom is not reliable for married couples. 3 Likes |

Niyoda: FP all the way. I have heard so many negative things about FP but I am going for it because I can't take chances. I have used the Billings method, though it works for me because my flow is very regular and I use an app to track my ovulation, but sometimes you can't be too careful as a result I have gotten pregnant twice with this method, last one (my baby girl)was even on my main ovulation day. In 2017 I used two months injectables for like 8months, and there was no side effect. Next week I'm going for implant (the one that they insert in the arm). Withdrawal method doesn't work for us because DH is not use to it, and CD is just weird for us 3 Likes |

senoraaquila: Same here oh. It's not easy to raise a girl child. I sometimes check my 4years old daughter vagina when I bath her. What I noticed in my daughter is quiet different, when she was a baby her vagina hole was not showing at all, it was as if it was covered by the hymen and I feel it's normal, but when she was like 2years, I noticed the hole started showing, I was bothered oh and scared because I use to think that the hole shouldn't be obvious until the person loses her virginity. |
