Webmasters › Re: Domain Name Renewal Hike by abhosts(m): 8:52pm On Jan 29, 2012
geniusng:
I am hosting my domain with one company, and because of the little increase in
the price of domain, he increase the domain renewal to $17 or N3000.

Please if you are on my shoe, what do you do?

He is hosting only one domain for me. The domain has already expired, no alert was sent to me prior to expiration.
I would have said let me transfer.

My other domains are with Web4africa and they did not increase - still $12 or N1920

What do I do? Anywhere to report if he insist that I must pay $17?

Thanks
It was increased from how much?

Politics › Re: Nigeria Consumes 33 Million Litres Of Fuel Daily: Check Out This Calculation Pls by abhosts(m): 9:58am On Jan 26, 2012
That Statistic is suspect considering the fact that very few filling stations in Nigeria get more than 2 Tanker(33,000 litres) supply in a week.

An Agnostic asking how he should respond? I think you opened this thread to add Salt upon Injury. At least you would not say you were not told when your day of reckoning comes.

Am very sure you are the very hosting company am referring to:
post you website address here lets confirm.
Tell me the work of a web host manager if I will be the one that will be during their work, see your mentality, wait until I post your website address here.

You called to apologize to me this evening and here you are defending yourself, show your identity.
So I should pay you to go sit at home abi ?
I am not your Web Hosting provider and I never wish to be. A simply look at my profile would show you that I have been registered on Nairaland for almost 6years and you surely would not find any reference to your host in any my posts.

My anger stems from the fact that you choose to denigrate all Nigerian hosts with your post, when your knowledge about the field is at best mediocre.
Webmasters › Re: Whats Wrong With Some Nigerian Web Hosting Company by abhosts(m): 5:21pm On Jan 21, 2012
No web hosting company on the planet can prevent your website from getting hacked when you are using vulnerable/outdated php scripts. How can you refer to yourself as a web developer and not know that? Besides websites worth Millions of Dollars are being hacked everyday; What gives you the impression that your cheap website, residing on a shared server should be hack-proof?

Furthermore, No Shared Web Hosting Company in the World would guaranty the safety of your files/content. Keeping Offsite backups is a must and again I am surprised a "Web Developer" does not know that.

The same old scenario would play out. Fuel price would be slightly reduced and the Labour Leaders would be hailed as Heroes. Nigerians would move on with life and Reject all Candidates that promise change and vote back PDP into power come 2015.
Business › Re: How Is Cbn Cashless Policy Going To Affect Your Business? by abhosts(m): 10:03pm On Jan 11, 2012
LeoMax:
The New Law says 150k cash withdrawal not check which I pay to someone. So what I did was Issue a check of 150k to 2 persons each and they cash it and I cash 150k myself. No limits exceeded.
Wrong!! The New rule States that all Third-Party Over-the-counter Withdrawals from your account that accumulate beyond 150k(daily) would attract the 10% charge. But there would be no charge if the Cheque is paid into a Current account.
Business › Re: How Is Cbn Cashless Policy Going To Affect Your Business? by abhosts(m): 3:01pm On Jan 11, 2012
LeoMax:
Its simple to beat the system. Lets say you wanna withdraw 450,000. Go with 2 of your friends to the bank and write them 150,000 check each. 3 of you make the withdrawal and you collect your cash, Thats simple.

And you if are paying 450,000 to someone's account, go alone to the bank you wanna make deposit. fill 3 tellers on different "Pay From" Names and amounts 150,000 each and pay to them.

As simple as ABC, if your bank dey vex, simply go with 2 friends and hand them 150k each and they pay ,

Note: Banks can never never stop how much money is received into any bank account. QED

Am not saying its bad to deposit checks if you have payments over 1m to someone, I welcome it and that's what I do from time immemorial.
Under the new rule, since the total amount Withdrawn that day is 450,000, you will pay 45,000 in bank charges.

Wrong!!
The road has been in use long before these protests began . . . according to information I have gathered on it. So, what you have there is wrong.
I Live in Lekki and I ply the alternative road regularly. I don't need to argue with you.
Politics › Re: Occupy Lekki: Lekki Toll Gate Protest-update by abhosts(m): 5:49pm On Dec 17, 2011
Kobojunkie:
Really? An Alternative route which has been in existence has been PROVIDED? Do you know what the word PROVIDED implies, especially when it comes to government? Please lets sort of say SUGGESTED but definitely the word PROVIDED does not seem to work in this case.
Yes, the alternative route to the first toll gate has been active for over 12 months now! The road connects you to VI or back to the Main Road(Privatized Road), after the toll gate.
Politics › Re: Occupy Lekki: Lekki Toll Gate Protest-update by abhosts(m): 5:39pm On Dec 17, 2011
As a Lekki Resident myself, I think folks are being too hard on Fashola. An alternative route has already been provided for the First toll gate and it only takes about 5 mins extra to ply. An alternative route is presently being mapped out for the second toll gate at Chevron and toll collection would not commence there until that road is complete.
