Modern Commercial Trains Travel at about 300km/h. That means a Trip from Ibadan to Lagos should take less than 30 minutes. Looks like a Strategy to decongest Lagos, since it would make it possible for people to live in Ibadan and Conveniently work in Lagos.
Politics › Re: Israel Begins Mass Deportation Of Nigerians. by abhosts(m): 11:47am On Sep 08, 2012
Israel is not Western Europe or The United States. They do not have the capacity to absolve too many immigrants. The clampdown on illegals is in their own best interest.
Politics › Re: Lagosians Tapping Electricity Direct From Pole!! by abhosts(m): 10:49pm On Aug 16, 2012
As someone that understands the Nigerian Psyche well, I knew that the prepaid meter Introduction was not a good idea, as it would lead to a lot of revenue loss for PHCN.

Even neighboring countries like Benin and Togo are very discipline when it comes to electricity consumption. But Nigerians would prefer to cheat so they can freely use their 4000 watts 1970s Air Conditioners and Electric Hotplates.

Webmasters › Re: Voguepay is Processing!!! by abhosts(m): 12:26pm On Aug 15, 2012
Dual Core: I don't think everyone understands this problem. This is NOT a Voguepay issue. This is a switching problem. Dealing directly with Interswitch does not solve any switching issues.
We are learning everyday. Please could you explain why Direct Interswitch Merchants that use Webpay on their sites did not experience the same during that period?

My Rational is simple:

Aggregate Gateway >>> GTpay >>> Interswitch can not be the same as hooking up to Interswitch Directly. Please note that I am in no way criticizing the Aggregate guys that are making online payment more accessible to smaller sites. I think they are doing a good job.
Webmasters › Re: Voguepay is Processing!!! by abhosts(m): 10:34am On Aug 15, 2012
Dual Core: This solves nothing. When you go to Interswitch directly, you meet this problem directly.

...and I don't think Interswitch speaks English, they speak error codes.
That is so untrue. Dealing in Interswitch Directly, saves you a lot of stress.
Car Talk › Re: Is Having A Car A Sign Of Prosperity? by abhosts(m): 10:13am On Aug 15, 2012
It depends on the type of car and the Payment Method used in purchasing it. If someone shells out 15m Naira in cash for a car, that person is surely prosperous.

I find it quite Ironic that Nigeria's best ever sports spell took place during the Regime of a Dictator. Our democratic leaders need to start taking sports seriously.

Nations Cup Triumph 1994.

First World Cup 1994.

Best Olympic Performance 1996.

Properties › Re: Annoying attitudes of Housing Agents by abhosts(m): 12:45pm On Jun 13, 2012
I was one of those that use to have the mindset that there are still a few " Decent Agents", but not anymore. A fellow I thought was a decent agent thought me the lesson of my life.
Here are the lessons I have learned:

1. Never trust a Nigerian property agent, even if he is your twin brother.

2. Never part with their agency fee until you have sealed the deal with the landlord. Because if things go wrong and the Landlord refunds you, most agents would simply go missing after collecting there fees.

3. Never pay an agent for a building that is still under construction, no matter how lovely the property looks. After completion, you would discover that the guy was never the primary agent as he earlier claimed.

4. Most agents do not have taste. They use the term "Tastefully Finished" Recklessly.

5. Pay and collect your keys and receipt on the spot to avoid your apartment being rented out to multiple people at the same time.

Most of the protesting Students are not really concerned about the Unilag Brand that GEJ has deleted. They just think the new name sounds Razz. They would probably have been fine with an Oyinbo sounding name like Anderson Kent University.

Any 5 year old that has seen a James Bond Movie should know that "My Name is" is correct, but Nigerians really have a funny way of coming up with their own English. Even Lawmakers make this blunder frequently on TV.

Business › Re: How Safe Is Internet Banking In Nigeria And Which Bank(s) Will You Recommend? by abhosts(m): 4:06pm On May 08, 2012
If you are not an Internet Savvy person, here is a tip for you:

Open both a Savings Account and a Current Account with the same Bank.

Leave most of your Cash in your Current Account with no Internet Banking or ATM Facility.

Activate Internet Banking on Your Savings and only fund it with Cash just enough for your Online Transactions.

God Bless
