It's difficult because of the restrictions we place on ourselves. When you live outside Nigeria, try to mix with people that share your core values, not your skin color or country of origin. So many times we get stuck on wanting to marry a Nigerian or someone from our tribe that we find ourselves mingling with the type of people we wouldn't even talk to if we were still living in Nigeria. The core values are the most important, forget about stereotypes. If you're someone that believes in God, values education, professional accomplishments and family ties, then hang out with people that fit that, regardless of where they are from. From that same circle you will meet romantic partners that share the same values and date them until you find the one. If you're only attracted to black men, there are black men of all nationalities that you can meet. If you 100% cannot marry a non-Nigerian then you should get married in Nigeria before relocating. Going abroad and limiting yourself to find a husband from such a limited pool will only lead to making poor choices. The same principle stands with friendships, I stopped looking for Nigerians to be friends with and allowed myself to be friends with people in my social class that are like me and things have never been better. |

I don't know why empty heads are going on about feminists in the comments. This is solid advise based on the 4 minute clip (I can't speak for the full sermon). It addresses the needs of both parties and most marriages can benefit from what she has said. So what has feminism got to do with respect? |

PataAlhaja: You are definitely not alone.
I learnt heavily pregnant women find it hard to tamba (wash their Nyansh) after defecating because their hand no dey fit reach their anus well well. Besides, I find pregnant women and nursing, lactating mothers very nauseating. Their toto go don scatter badly. Their breasts sef go dey leak water water. E go be like say make I vomit.
By the way, I'm an antinatalist. I'm against giving birth, child-bearing and the vicissitudes that subsequently come with it. The world is over-populated enough. Let's stop giving birth. If you want a kid, you can surely adopt legally. I can't believe I have to share the internet with daft people like this |

LegendHero: There are countless Agbero in Ibo land. But as usual, their Agberos are ragtags without no iota of success.
At least MC Oluomo has kids abroad and one of them was the best valedictorian honored by the Georgia State Governor. He was given scholarship to study in Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
The Ibos only envy MC Oluomo because he is more successful than their own (wretched NURTW) guys. If their own NURTW guys were as successful as Oluomo, they would have turned that to a bragging right! As omo Oduduwa, I'm here to announce to you pe omo ale ni e. O kin se omo gidi. You want to talk about successful yorubas worth envying and you mentioned MC Oluomo? david290: You get it. I came from a family where dad and mom have been blackmailing each other for over three decades. Dad knows mom can't leave and mom knows dad can't leave due to religious leanings. Myself and siblings have settled fight tire. At different times in my life I have felt like may be if there had been a renewal or something, it would have at least kept them on their toes and they wouldn't be taking each other for granted. I'm so sorry you experienced that. Sadly this is mostly the case in Nigerian marriages. People who celebrate our low divorce statistics are failing to acknowledge that a lot of people are actually stranded in their marriages due to financial dependency, religious reasons and fear of stigma. I can count on one hand the number of older Nigerian couples that I know that have good marriages, most are hot messes with tales of abuse, infidelity, family drama, blackmail and unhappiness. On the other hand in the US we have a much higher rate of divorce but for the people that choose to stay together you can tell that the marriage is a real functioning marriage with both couples trying their best. |

She has a point. If we viewed marriage as something that can be undone it can potentially make partners work to keep each other happy. I don't think it's healthy to say marriage is forever, anything you see there just take it. We should ideally work on the relationship to the point where your partner is saying yes to you everyday, and vice versa. Don't take each other for granted because of a marriage certificate. |

The logical outcome. He tried it to make a political statement and score points in his camp but there was no way he was going to get away with it. The people that were rejoicing that all students will have to come back to Nigeria will have to find another source of joy. |
