That law only appears to US and a few other countries but not UK. By UKVI rules you have to leave before the visa expires else you would have overstayed which is a breach of the immigration rules and may affect future applications.

I have a tax card from 2013 but each expired yearly but this year own card is not ready for collection. My question.... should I print the ones that has expired(water marked) written on it or I should just include d tax cards? Or I should just ignore d 2 options since its indicated on my monthly pay slip(tax deducted)

Are you applying as an employee or a business owner? If you are an employee to a company your payslip should show that and you wont need to submit the tax card

And what's the usual timeline between the decision email and passport pick up date? 1, 2 , 3 , 4 or 5 days working or inclusive of non-working days?

Under normal circumstances, you can not get a tourist visa if you are less than one year in an employment for these two reasons:
(1) The employment is not yet sustained because in labour law, you have to be at least 1 year in a job in order to be fully protected against abrupt termination of employment.
(2) The visa officer needs (at least) a year's tax clearance in order to evaluate the job's worth.

I don't agree with you on this because the ECO's have a decision guide (appendix V: UK immigration rules for visitors and general grounds for refusal document) available on the UK government immigration website where this clause is not mentioned. In fact people without jobs/tax info do apply for entry clearance and some are found eligible

And about the number 3, some people I know got visas and were not even employed, and this firm is one that is used by the British high commission in Lagos, of which they can verify. So wouldn't a letter of introduction to them suffice with payslips, thanks in anticipation of your reply

I have presented a question similar to your number 3 question on nairaland before but almost everyone claimed that I had to be working and earning above a certain amount monthly and all. So I can't give you a concrete answer nevertheless I know corpers and even unemployed fellows who apply for UK visas and get it. What I dont know is if they applied using their parents/sponsor documents or not.

On the other hand how much do you earn monthly from all your sources of income and how much is in the account in your name? Shares are not usually placed on the same level as available cash by the ECO's as it does not translate into available liquid cash

Everybody's case is unique but proper planning may increase the odds . First of all I don't agree with this whole practice today of waiting till the end of NYSC to search for a job . I served in 2014 and started looking for job before I even went to camp . I responded to job adverts on LinkedIn, ngcareers and jobberman. A good number of these companies lost interest in me when they found out that I was a corper however one company (a Plc ) in Victoria Island told me point blank that it was against their policy to hire candidates who had not done the compulsory national service but they could take me as a corper . I accepted their offer and immediately went to my PPa and negotiated with the principal to allow me work from home since the ppa wasn't paying me . He agreed and I resumed work in the said company earning N30k monthly . Completed NYSC in mid October last year . Continued working and two weeks after pop the company made me a full time offer of 110k monthly even though it's not great I can feed and maintain my self and never had to sit at home idle . I advised many of my corper friends then but they were having fun and some were talking bout Looking for job after NYSC . I even met one or two uncles for job but they all kept saying "can't help till you complete NYSC " and all. But I believed in what I was doing and was able to get something out of it . I will advice the op to take whatever job he finds even if the pay is little because if I compare my CV a year before NYSC and my cv at the end of the NYSC , I can see remarkable improvement in skills and projects embarked on. But if I was at home I would have had just education and NYSC on my CV.

1) You would be considered ineligible for a visa as your employment history does not conform to the requirement.
2) Cash payment is unacceptable unless in certain limited circumstances.
3) A job that is less than 1 year old does not meet the requirement as its sustainability is not yet verifiable.
4) Land property that stands in isolation is not a tie.

@Vicjustice your answer number 3. What rules are you quoting here ? Never come across any rule that states that an applicant must spend one year at their place of employment

not a crime at all. you really just wanna know the time lines. when did you submit and what mails have you received thus far? you may wanna postpone the appointment with the German embassy if possible.

Submitted on Feb 1 and received an email from Sheffield on feb 3 acknowledging receipt of my application . No further message from Sheffield but will contact the German consulate as you've advised

Abnot,why don't you try and be patient till your application sails through. You keep asking the same questions over and over again forgetting that nobody works with the BHC here. For someone that has been to the UK 10 times in that last 6 years,i must say you sound very green and too anxious. Well am not anxious . Am only on a tight schedule as I have another appointment (Germany) which I'll need my passport for on tuesday that's why I asked which I don't think is a crime.

Hi. I recently applied twice for a UK visa in order to write an exam but unfortunately my applications were rejected due to the fact that (1) They don't believe I want to write the exam despite submitting a confirmation letter and the result of my previous exam. (2) they had issues with my salary being paid into an account in my own name despite submitting my bank statement and payslips. Both applications were rejected within the space of a month.
So please guys, what should I do? When next can I reapply? And what can I do to rectify these issues?

Good morning everyone, Please how long does it take the french consulate in lagos to process tourist visas (on behalf of netherlands) ? Last time I applied it took over two weeks and I had to go collect my passport without the visa to enable me travel to uk. WHen i returned from UK I took my passport back to the embassy and got a text from them three days later asking me to come collect my passport. The visa was issued but didnt need it anymore at that point in time. I ended up using the visa to travel to spain and portugal two months after. Dont even know if that will be a problem

Most application in VI go to Sheffield and max 2 weeks you should get a decision on your application while most application at Ikeja where you pay an extra fee of N18,000 go to BDHC and you MIGHT get a decision on your application in a week

I heard it takes three weeks for applications Sen to Sheffield to be treated . You know anyone who got a decision made in two weeks ?

I tried looking up the Average processing times on UKVI website however it has not been updated of recent . Would be glad if fellow recent applicants on nairaland can let me know how long theirs took as TLS doesn't seem to be updating their tracking page ... Thanks

I got my IELTS scores a few weeks ago and found out that there are no available slots for the PLAB 1 exam in Nigeria. The next time is 10 months away in November. I don't want to wait that long, so I booked for the exam in June in the UK, and got a confirmation email. I had to do that before the new fee charge(over a hundred pounds more than what I paid) came into effect.
I am now planning to apply for a visa for the exam, and I am particularly bothered about the minimum balance I should have in my account. The need for the visa is rather sudden and unplanned (as I never knew I was going to miss the March date and I don't want to wait till November). I have managed to get money into my account (I have been moving money in and out of it) for the purpose of the visa.
My questions are:
1. Will my chances be jeopardized by these apparent transfer of money within a short period of time (I intend to apply in March) ?
2. I plan to stay with my cousin during my one week stay (he is also a medical doctor working in the UK). What documents do I need to prove that? Do I need proof that he is my cousin?

Am not an ECO and can only guess based on my observations. In December I applied for a schengen visa (France) with 273k account balance and was granted. Although there was an average monthly credit of 667k into the account which I was spending anyhow thus resulting in the low balance. Thus I feel like they focused more on the credits rather than the balance.
On the other hand I've had an average monthly credit of 650k into my account since August but I spend the money anyhow and thus usually don't have more than 200k balance till like November when I decided to cool down with the spending and save a bit for my UK visa application . By end of January I had about 900k balance and submitted my application . Yet to get the application back and will let this house know how the application goes . Although I've been to the UK more than 10 times between 2010 and now nevertheless they say each application is treated on its own merit so waiting to see the outcome

Place of issue refers to the city where the passport was issued . For instance my passport was issued by at the Nigerian high commission in London so my place of issue is "London UK" . For most people who got their passport from the Lagos immigration office their place of issue will be "Ikoyo Lagos".
On the other hand type of work undertaken refers more like to the type of work you do such as accounting , product designer , human resource management , etc

I have summited my uk visa application online for tourist visa (6 months visa) put I will be staying for just 5days . I have paid online and finished the Tls form online .

After all I just realized that my passpor will soon expire is not up to 6months ,it's about 5months and so days.

I now reached online an saw the minimum requirement was to have a passport with at least 6month validity .

I have just done a new passport and collected it today .i intend to summit both old passport and the new one . Hope I will not have issues? Since I didn't state it in my application . I still have like two countries visa on my old passport.

Why don't you just make a new application and apply for a refund for the first application you've submitted online ?

They ask that for so many reasons, if you have family/friend living illegally in the UK and plan to visit them you are more likely to over stay your visa. If anything happens to you while in the UK then they have somebody to contact, if you committed a crime while in the UK then they know where to start their investigation by contacting those people listed in your application form...etc

It's 50/50 and depend on how you present yourself case. It's depends on a lot of stuff...e.g when you applied for the visa were you working? How long did you state in application that you will spending in the Uk and how much were you budget? Do you have anybody in the uk and did you mention that in your application?

Why do they usually ask if you've got friends/family in the UK? And if you do they ask for their names, address, type of visa they are on, citizenship.... If you have friends/family in UK but decide to apply as a tourist with some form of hotel reservation does it raise some form of eyebrows?

Yea submitted in VI on Feb 1 . Got an email from UKVI Sheffield on Feb 3 acknowledging receipt of my application. Was wondering why they had to send it all the way to Sheffield when they had DBHC in Lagos and BHC in Abuja

Will like to clarify the bank statement requirements for UKBA tourist visa applicants. The customer care officer at GTBAnk told me they only stamp/sign on the first page and last page of the bank statement. I was of the opinion that all the pages of the bank statement will be stamped/signed. Any idea on how it's done?
