Well I'll be willing to posit it may be possible with non £/$ currencies, or what do you think?
Not sure I understood what you just wrote up here. Kindly re-explain ...

Ok thanks. But must it be monthly pay. What of if I make it weekly cos I may not have enough time to build the account adequately before the time I am supposed to apply for the visa.
You'll need to do this for six months to be able to achieve a healthy bank account . Doing this for a few weeks will most likely attract a rejection except your salary as a civil servant is good enough at a level that the total cost of your proposed trip will not exceed your two months salary

How about this, using Travelex...I know they give silly excuses about not having Pounds or Dollars, how about changing to Rands for example and when you get to the Heathrow airport, it'll be converted to Pounds?
is that possible? Cause I heard that most times these peeps claim to have run out of forex and am avoiding a situation where i'll have naira that I cant change or will be forced to change at the black market whose rates are not favorable

Hello friends. Still on the statement of account thing. Apart from money from my salary as a civil servant, the one from my wife, I also intend building my account with money from a company I jointly owned with aa friend. How do I prove the authenticity of the said sources? What are the documents I needed to provide?
You got to be paying yourself a fixed amount monthly from the company via bank transfer (not cash). On the visa form there is a clause that asks for other sources of income from friends, family, stocks, investments....In that section you write down the amount you get from your company monthly

Good morning all,

In view of the current forex scarcity, exorbitant price of foreign currencies on the streets and the suspension of PTA by banks, is it fine to travel to the UK with no cash and rely on withdrawing cash from the ATM at the airport? In 2010 I had the ECO at the airport ask how much cash I was carrying and demanding to see the cash. However, the bank rate via gtbank naira mastercard on friday (19/02/16) was 320 naira = $1 while it was 393 naira = $1 which makes it more economical to opt for the bank rate.
However am also aware of the need to show the availability of funds for the duration one's stay in the UK thus will like to seek advise from recent travellers to the UK/US/EU on nairaland.

Hello, a friend want to send me an invitation letter from london, I hope it will be able to get me a visa from the uk embassy. Please advise.

Emmanuel james
Nobody on nairaland can guarantee the issuance of a visit visa to you. Nevertheless you'll need to confirm that your friend is a legal resident in the UK and you have to prove that he is indeed a close friend thus necessitating your proposed Visit .
On the other hand you got to prove that your financial and social circumstances in Nigeria are superb to eliminate the idea of a possible recourse to public funds or overstaying

Hi justwise and everyone. Pls I want to apply for uk visitor's visa and my tax is being deducted from salary though it is evident on my pay slip. One of the requirements for the visa is tax clearance certificate and when I requested it from my employer, I was told to go submit dat there is no individual remittance by the company. Pls what do I do? Do I go to FIRS directly to request for it? Pls I await your response. Thanks.
You don't need any tax certificate to apply for the UK visit visa . I don't even know what the tax certificate thing looks like . Just try your best to submit documents that will convince the ECO that you'll come back to naija after your visit and during your visit you won't have any need to get money from the UK government to survive

Do banks disclose account bal to third party( ECO)
Banks maintain some level of confidentiality and are only able to verify the authenticity of account statements submitted to ECO. By law your account balance and other confidential details regarding your account can only be made available to institutions such as ICPC and EFCC among others.
Nevertheless, consider the ECO as a human being whose instincts could ask certain questions such as "why was this applicant's statement printed long before his appointment date?" , "could he have borrowed money just to display for purposes of obtaining an entry clearance "?... If the ECO finds it unconvincing, he/she could deny you an entry clearance . Also bear in mind that the ECO's have more powers to deny general visit visa applications than the point based applications as a result of their current laws. Will advice that you submit a recent bank statement if you have nothing to conceal from the ECO.

I printed my statement 26th last month, and submitting nxt week 22 or 23 of dis month...... hope it's not too late
Try and print a bank statement covering up to the 19th of February. For schengen countries the rule is that the statement be not older than 10 days. Am assuming the ECO will have a similar expectation

With a month gap between printing and submitting it raises doubts to the visa officer.
"Why such a time gap for something so simple?"
"Why did you have to print so early?"
"Is the money still there?"
"What other problems are you hiding?"

All of these will go through the mind of the V. O.

You can't print your statement a few days to your submission date but if you can make it not more than one week to your appointment date

I'm sincerely interested in this too.
My bank; gtbank said I can't by forex purposely for BTA (embargo on this for now), can't deposit naira in my dollar Dom acct, however, I can use my naira Master card abroad to the tune of 1,000$ (£ equivalent) per month. They charged 284.99$ last week on an online payment. Going by this, it's almost #70 lesser than Wat BDC would offer. Then pounds charges will or should be lesser than the BDC rates too. Therefore, I presumed spending on my MasterCard will be cheaper than buying pounds here in 9ja as BTA.
Otherwise, you can confirm the current exchange rate in London? Maybe travelstart can tell us the current #to£ exchange rate
The interbank rate (NGN284 to a dollar) is still too high compare to the NGN199 to the dollar official rate. Probably should search for banks that still offer PTA..
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by abnot: 5:06pm On Feb 18, 2016
On the other hand what is the best way to get pounds (PTA) or at descent rates? GTbank has stopped issuing PTA and the BDC's seem to be charging outrageous amounts (almost 500 naira to 1 pounds).

you have to include your wifes bank statement indicating the said amount was debited on the date as an evidence whiles clearly stating the purpose of such transfer into your personal account. you should however provide evidence of genuine relationship between you and your wife such as marriage cert and birthcert of any child of both bearing you name and you wife
If he does a bank transfer his wife's name will show up on his statement as the source of the funds and he wont have any issue especially if he states that at the additional information section

how was 250 pounds possibly for food and shopping and how many days was this acceptable as adequate funds for maintenance
Well that was what i put up there in my application (9 days) . Hostel fee (not hotel) £150 flight fee £600 and shopping / miscellaneous £250. I had a seperate document listing out what i plan to do while in uk and the cost of each of these activities including my eating spots. Everything summed up to £117 so you can see that the £250 pound budget was even too much.

When i was residing in uk i use to apply for schengen visas with just £500 or thereabout in my account and never got denied. In december 2014 I applied for schengen visa in lagos (france) and had 273k in my account. Visa was granted.

Thanks a bunch.

My plan for building my account include using my 3 months salary arrears that I am expecting shortly as well as my wife's salary which is the same as what I earn. Do I need to attach her statement of account too to prove the source of the money coming from her?
You can tell your wife to transfer the money to you and submit your bank statement to reduce unnecessary complexities.

Your post has given me some relief. I intend to apply for UK visa by 1st week in in March for the purpose of writing a professional exam in July. But my problem is I don't have enough cash in my account presently. I have just 250k but hope to raise it up to like 600 by march. I earn 150k as salary. Could salary alert be intterpretted as cash lodgement and what are my chances of securing the visa?
Accumulate your salary and avoid money lodgement. Even though huge sums were deposited into my account weeks before the application my account has always been recording credits from another source monthly however I spend the money as it's coming which made it hard for me to accumulate money over time . In addition make realistic travel budget as my budget was barely £1,000. Lastly I was a UK resident till January 2015 and never made recourse to public fund all through my stay there so all these may have made the ECO less stringent on my application..

Mom's got delivered yesterday. 5 working days time line from submission to return. Courier didn't even call. A neighbour collected on our behalf and the courier is supposed to be shown a collection slip which was given to her by teleperformance oh. Thankfully we live in a small gated estate so it was safe.
So, any one opting for the return courier service, ensure you give an address that would make delivery safe and secure.
Yea picked it up this afternoon. One week after getting the decision made email.

So UKVI Sheffield emailed me on Feb 10 to say "a decision has been made" and TLSContact emails me on Feb 15 to say "Your UK visa application has been received by UK Visas & Immigration and will now be processed in accordance with published timelines" . Lol
Wonder who is giving the realtime information here... Teleperformance seems to be be updating one week later than they should

Then if you aren't too far from the VAC and no update comes from Teleperformance by noon tomorrow, you might want to consider going to check. They're often having issues with updating statuses on their webpage. Just give it a try should they not have responded by then.
okay
