So they told you that commercial airlines had fufilled all rules regarding flights to anambra and the FG decided to stop it. Ode.

According to the news report, no airline had counters and thus were not permitted to fly. How do you even board a flight when there is no counter? You don't even know that one, but you'll jump out to cry FG all the time. Very dumb victim mentality wey some of una get here sef. Next one na to jump out now tell me say I no from Anambra grin
If I may ask when did FAAN, AVSEC, NCAA, NAMA, NIMET and FireService deploy its staff to the airport ? When did the CAT2 or CAT 3 calibration take place ? When did the security and fire drills take place ? When did the operational simulations/demonstrations take place. NCAA is one agency that is not partisan and doesn't look at anybody's face. Even the powers that be have desisted from interfering in NCAA's activities following the series of air crash that occurred in 2005.

Obiano has done a good job. He should allow his successor see through the certification process

Go and sit down. Anambra use their money build finish FAAN go manage am. FAAN only gives certification for landing operations, that's all. Management, concession of the Airport is the full rights of Anambra State..
It looks like many people see aviation business as no different from motor park business. Sentiments aside aviation is a serious business that is highly regulated by NCAA in nigeria with many other bodies (ICAO, FAA, EASA) watching over the activities of globally. Positions in an airport cannot be filled up overnight. Almost every post holder has to be licensed. Even the cabin crew of the aircraft have to hold a valid license. FAAN, NAMA, NCAA and NIMET, AVSEC officials have to be deployed to the airport. Firemen have to also be deployed and simulations/drills need to take place prior to the regulator certifying the airport as open for commercial operations. Allen Onyema has been in this aviation business as an operator for at least 7 years and he knows these things. I wonder why he advertised a commercial flight for saturday October 30 when these things have not been put in place. NCAA has approved flights to land on that airport every now and then but not commercial flights. More like charter flights. This is why I dislike Nigerian politics as its full of deceit. The governor should be comfortable with his successor seeing through the completion of the airport certification process instead of treating aviation like motor park business just to win votes in the upcoming elections

Imagine George Uriesi of ibom airway saying other airlines could not compete with them on the uyo route and ran away . Same airlines that are competing with them on other routes . They should keep the market to themselves . I trust Allen Onyema when anambra airport is complete ibom air will be frustrated out of that market which will be a bigger market .

They have two A220-300s while Airpeace has 4 E195-E2s. They have 4 crj 900s while air peace has 8 ERJ145s . In addition Airpeace has 10 Boeing 737s and 3 Boeing 777s with more E2s lined up for delivery

16billion naira is what was spent judiciously. November and December Tickets for airpeace are sold out. If you don't get the point, forget about it
Development is in stages. Kotoka airport use to be worse than it is now but they kept improving . Also May be because of my little knowledge of aviation I tend to see things a bit differently. The average traveller sees an airport from the prism of the terminal building and just that. I see airports from the infrastructure , ratings & passenger/cargo traffic point of view . Same with airlines . I see them from a company point of view (assets , financial standing , route network, annual passenger count, debt profile etc ). Many see it from a different prism .
If Nigeria upgrades murtala & nnamdi azikwe airport terminals to facilitate easy transit of passengers kotoka will lose traffic. Currently Lagos airport is processing about 15 times the number of passengers kotoka airport is processing
Just as what happened shortly after Airpeace launched it’s Johannesburg operations. Asky suspended the route citing covid as the reason .

Only one airline they have attracted? While constructing weren't they reaching out to attract airlines? This is a big failure on the marketing department. How will the airport now generate enough money for its operation?.... for maintenance?... for staff? They need to do a lot more urgently or this project will have to be heavily subsidized.... continuously or become a white elephant.
Airpeace was a stakeholder in this project and they paid for land in the airport for some projects they want to carry out. All I see here is the government granting them right of first refusal which is normal. Other airlines should go & hustle like them too . Aviation is not an easy business

Air peace only released seats for October 30. They haven’t released seats for the other days yet. That airport runway can handle a 777. Airpeace will use that to operate the route in December. I also see a bit of politics there. Airpeace will dominate the anambra airport just as ibom air dominates Uyo airport. Won’t be surprised if it’s the only airline that is allowed to operate from there or given privileges that other airlines are not given.

You and that’s imaginary individuals are the only ones with such unusual issues with ibomair..
Ibomair is still the best tho in the country .
When you say best please specify in what areas. If I can recall ibom air operates out of lagos into 4 or 5 cities (abuja, uyo, calabar, enugu and port harcourt). If i'm to compare with an airline like airpeace I'll say that air peace operates 100 or more flights daily to even remote airports like ilorin, ibadan, gombe, yola, akure, warri, calabar from both abuja and lagos. They also fly out of kano to phc, asaba, abuja and lagos. On the regional front they operate into douala, freetown, accra, dakar, banjul, johannesburg. In terms of fleet 2021 has been good for them with a new aircraft delivery every 2-3 months. These aircrafts are new generation aircrafts coming straight from embraer's factory in Brazil. More new aircrafts are expected this year and next year. They've also got firm orders for 10 boeing 737 max 8 which is also a new generation aircraft.
On the route expansion side they are aggressively trying to operate into china and india and other regional routes. On the social responsibility side they are there.

Then there is arik that has contributed immensely towards the knowledge base of the aviation sector and was only second to Nigerian airways. A good number of arik's pilots and technical staff have landed jobs in ethiopian, emirates and other european carriers

I cannot rate ibom air above these two airlines . Ibom air's selling point is on-time performance but then all airlines in nigeria had great on-time performance when they operated few routes but were unable to sustain it when they started operating into multiple airports due to the operating environment here. I also don't know thestatus of the aircrafts ibom air operates. They wet-leased A220s from egypt air. For the CRJ 900s we dont know if it was a dry lease or an outright purchase. They claim to be building a hub out of uyo but in real sense lagos is their hub

Ebonyi does not have the kind of commercial activities that warrants a big airport. Too many sycophants in Nigeria . As governor nobody wants to be in his bad books hence they praise all his ideas both the feasible ones and the unfeasible ones

Well we are in a country where people don’t like to read or research anything. They are quick to bash . I don’t see anything wrong with the airline or aircraft here. If no GPU was provided and the weather was hot this is expected as the APU may not even be bad. They probably reserved the power on the APU for starting the engines and powering other equipments while on ground.

Nawao a whole Arik, then something is wrong somewhere.
It’s not about arik. Some months ago it was an Airpeace aircraft and many people bashed the airline. Last week it was Dana air with people accusing them of using old planes. Today it is arik air. This is enough to tell that’s its not an airline thing but an industry wide issue.
Now from the little I know in aviation most airports in Nigeria have no ground power unit (GPU) to power ACs while the aircraft is on ground. Even Abuja airport probably has just 2 or 3. The aviation regulation makes it impossible for an airline to buy/operate these ground handling equipments. The ground handling companies in Nigeria (sahcol & nahcol) don’t offer the quality to service expected of them probably because they earn very little revenue from the airlines. NCAA regulates these charges and for some time they have been complaining that there counterparts in ECOWAs charge airlines a lot more than they do which makes it difficult for them to upgrade their equipments. These are sector wide issues that need to be sorted out.
Airpeace has GPUs for its Boeing 777s and I don’t know how they were able to get around it with the present regulation

In 2019 a lady was removed from an Airpeace flight for something similar. She and her husband resorted to a social media campaign against the airline/pilot and a lawsuit later on. Hopefully the court will interpret the laws better as it seems many liken passenger-pilot mode of operation to the usual passenger-driver relationship while pilots guided by the different aviation acts have the power to throw out unruly passengers from their aircraft.

RomanceRe: Men! How Do You Want Your Future Wife? by abnot: 9:37am On Sep 16, 2021
I believe every individual wil have their own requirements and factors that influence what they look out for.

For me when I was growing up I had middle class parents (happily married) but also had a very wealthy uncle. I consistently saw members of my family go to his house for one demand or the other . Some of these family members were married (aunties and cousins) but spent a great amount of time and energy serving my uncle’s wife and running errands for her in exchange for material gifts and being part of the entourage. I kept asking myself why a married woman will leave her husband/family to go and serve another married woman just for material gains (some money, shopping Financed by either my uncle or his wife , to be seen as part of the entourage of another woman). From then on I decided that I’d never get married to a woman that is overly materialistic to the point going all over the place for material things.

Secondly I believe I’ll always have needs or goals that will require some sort of sacrifice . Thus I’ve always believed I saving , investment and consuming some. Any woman who believes in consuming all and further looking for how to consume unearned income/dividends is a no no for me.

Thirdly I enjoy knowledge and can go to any length to seek new knowledge/information. I’d like to be able to discuss these things with my partner and have her also eager to learn to enrich our knowledge base. A woman who only knows about africa magic with little or no knowledge of most things will bore me.

My partner must be my friend . We need to share a number of common interests and enjoy each other’s company.

Fair enough. However, leaving applicants in the dark is an extremely unfair thing to do. If they wouldn't be resuming FSW, appropriate information should be relayed to applicants in that regard and vice versa. If no draw would be conducted throughout this year or the program would be closed, or they would even be going on a break, applicants need to know rather than keep them waiting with no way forward. It's honestly a cruel thing to do. Playing games with people's hope is terribly a wicked act. No one would object if they decide not to continue with the program.
My little cents is to live your life and chase your dreams while here in Nigeria . If along the line you get the PR you can also move and chase your dreams there. Don’t keep anything on hold. I felt bad for people who pulled their children out of school and sold their belongings all for a Canadian residence visa. Many of them have been made to believe that the system is near perfect while the Nigerian system was few weeks away from a disaster but they ended up giving up on Nigeria and also not being able to move to Canada at the time they wanted to.

HealthRe: Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu Bags WHO Appointment As Assistant DG by abnot: 7:50pm On Sep 02, 2021
I don't know how this good news turned into a tribal debate but from the little I know I'll say this. The position of a NCDC DG or head of infectious disease department or public health is traditionally not given to a person on the basis of politics. Chikwe is a great guy who has done well for himself and used the opportunity to serve as DG of NCDC as an opportunity to serve Nigeria. The environment was strange to him as he had not worked in Nigeria for a very long time and the people at NCDC did not really accept him because for them NCDC was just any other government agency. He had great work experiences in public health at public health institutions in South Africa, Germany and UK.

Prior to Chikwe the founding DG /CEO of NCDC (abdulsalami nasidi) was also very cerebral with great work experiences in Russia, Germany , USA and Nigeria public service. He rose to the position of Director public health at nigeria's health ministry and was once the country's chief epidemiologist , Chair of Global fund CCM , chair Task force on Avian influencza, DG West African Health Organization, along with many other appointments in and outside Nigeria. He established NCDC with very limited funding. But his people (northern people) also saw the position as one where they could come and make money. As a result his name got tainted in one corruption accusation or the other and he didn't leave the position till he was relieved.

In Nigerian you can find highly qualified and cerebral human capital in almost every region. The biggest problem is the culture and system. Culture where appointments are seen as an avenue to practice nepotism towards one tribe. As cerebral as Chikwe was NCDC was beginning to become a place for his kinsmen to meet to take over. No fault of his as the system/culture is rotten. If buhari appoints a cerebral yoruba man there tomorrow it will be the same. As a people Nigerians are not ready to build a country

Aero Contractors had better organisation and had experienced aviation experts yet it went bankrupt. Air Peace with allegedly looted niger delta amnesty money should focus on not ending up like Aero and Arik.

As for the runway it remains to be seen just what quality it is. After all Asaba airport runway built with the same speed by another unknown crony contractor had to be rebuilt by setraco. My classmate landed planes on that runway and that of Enugu and talked about the sub standard nature of both. Lets see how umueri fares when planes other than air peace land there.
Aero contractors was and is a successful company that is up to 40 years old. It changed its business model coupled with cecilia ibru's involvement and poor government policies that has killed almost all airlines. Allen Onyema's airpeace has a lot to learn from the over 30 airlines that went under. Financial prudence and discipline is one of the few ways to survive the ruthless aviation sector in Africa. That is one of the things that has kept ethiopian airlines strong and growing. Kenya airways was financially reckless.
